    OMG, so I'm not the only one who does multiple takes in rapid succession! I swear, I burn through 50GB of raw data for a single 10 minute video because of how many take I repeat! Excellent work as always Nick!

      I feel 50gb is pro numbers 😂😂 cuz i just created almost 78gb of raw data and started having serious questions if I'm doing things the right way that I had to Google search it. Now that I see I'm not the only one I'm kinda relieved 😂

    This video is EXACTLY what I needed!! I know I'm echoing everyone in the comments when I say this, but thank you SO MUCH for uploading this. It is perfect in its imperfections, and I'm glad to know I'm not alone. In those moments when I'm rewriting my script for the 5th time, filming take 10, or making thumbnail version 30 (all accurate numbers)... I'll remember that all the best TH-camrs do it too! Heck, I'm even drafting this comment in my Notes app because I want to properly convey how much this content means to new creators like myself who are obsessed with improving, growing, and providing value to others! Once again, thank you Nick!!

    • @NickNimmin
      @NickNimmin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Taking the extra efforts you’re taking shows your commitment. Most people won’t make more than one thumbnail, you’re light years ahead of most creators in that sense.

    Dude, sincerely, this was so helpful! So often I feel like I'm a lousy Creator because I have to say things over and over again and then piece them together for it to come off the way I want, knowing that that's actually relatively normal, you have no idea how encouraging that is for a person like me! You rock my friend! Thanks again for being willing to be vulnerable and transparent!

  • @IAMNICKCRUZ
    @IAMNICKCRUZ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What I enjoyed most about this video is that it was Raw, and shows that we can take multiple clips and piece them together to make the perfect video. Always thought we had to get the perfect video in one take. Now I understand, piece the good clips together and make sure they are smooth for you and the listener and person watching the videos.
    This made me understand that trying to record the video in one shot, break the video in pieces and put them together!
    Thanks Nick!

    I really glad u showed that it takes time and patience to record. And many times there are many takes involved. I'm trying to do 'vlog'o-ween' so I'm recording a lot this month. Last night it took me about 8 times re-recording the intro. And thats not getting it 'perfect' thats just making it comprehensive. Real life.

    Thanks for showing your recording process! It really shows how much work is involved when it comes to recording and producing a video. I've actually started recording in a similar way (minus the webcam or facecam for the time being). I will record in parts, and I have a ton of outtakes! Yet, that's the beauty of the recording process. It's never perfect on the first take.
    Also, silencing the phone is definitely a must as you've mentioned. Great, helpful video as always!

  • @PamelaRuddyUKart
    @PamelaRuddyUKart 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really appreciate this. It is easy to assume that continuing to take loads of takes is a sign that we are just not cut out for this, or that we are doing it wrong or that the goal is to be able to do it almost fluently.
    Seeing someone like yourself who has an enormous number of videos and livestreams behind you still doing the same things we are doing with repeated false starts and going again and again to get it right (as well as your tips for keeping organised and efficient with multiple takes) is really reassuring.
    It's the process required to get a good result, not evidence of not being good enough.
    It's tough when you compare all your own miss takes with everyone else's final edits!

    Man, I'm about to start with content creation and REALLY dread the whole thing. I tried like a few takes, and gave up because it felt so off. Watching this video helped me change my mindset about the process and just hammer through, try different take right away, brute forcing it like you do. I instantly felt more free to explore, rather than stifled because a take is not perfect or I felt weird. Thank you SO much for posting this.

  • @Gladyscakekitchen

    Watching Nick do this is such an eye opener and reassuring on so many levels... I'm blown away by the rawness of this video. As an amateur content creator, turning on my camera can be so intimating and keeping on with words n speaking with clarity can be difficult. I got myself a teleprompter but that in itself comes with challenges n I realise it makes me unnatural due to my content type. Seeing Nick do multiple takes has just given me the confidence to face my camera for my next video with no fear.. thanks Nick!

    Wow Nick! That is one of the most helpful videos I have ever watched - and I've watched a lot! Your massively generous transparency in showing how you record is huge reassurance to newbies like me. It also shows the huge amount of work that goes into your channel. My main takeaway is that it's ok to make mistakes and that they are an expected part of the creation process. For a prevaricating, perfectionistic person like me, who also struggles with imposter syndrome, this is a huge breakthrough so thank you Nick! You're a star! 👍 😘 ⭐🌟🌠

    Nick, I got to hand it to you. I struggled with false starts again and again when I tried making my video. I ended up having to slow way down and when I showed it to my friends they laughed because I don't normally talk slow and it sounded silly and kind of made me want to stop making videos. Watching you do multiple takes shows me that I guess it's a natural part of the struggle in getting good content out and makes me want to take another crack at it. OMG so I am not the only one who has to repeat certain parts over and over and over! I was getting so frustrated with myself the other day trying to a voice over one on of my videos because everything I was saying was not coming out right. After an hour of doing that....I got up and took a 3 mile walk to help clear my head.
    This video right here! I need more of these!
    I actually just started trying to do voice overs to pre-recorded gameplay, compared to speaking while playing, which is the difference between Night and Day for me. I can pretty much speak while playing the game content I am doing my help videos for without much issue. Doing voice overs for pre-recorded videos feels so unnatural for me right now.
    Writing this only 1/2 way through this video and feel SO Inspired to keep working at it to get better.

    Thank you for this, now I know that I am not truly alone, repeating myself over and over, like a broken record, just trying to get that perfect execution to get my point across in my videos. Keep safe always Nick!

    Hi Nick! Omg this was so helpful. I’m constantly tripping over my words and so glad to see it’s normal. Thank you 🙏

    As a new content creator on TH-cam, I could see that I go through the same thing, having to repeat certain lines before I'm able to nail, especially since I do shorts & have to beat the time.
    This video is encouraging sir.

    Wow! It was so helpful to watch you start and stop so many times! It really brings home that (edited) video is much more flexible in terms of 'takes'. All of my prior work has been live... So while I'm used to rehearsing and starting over in private, I haven't been thinking in those terms for recorded video.

    Good to see I am not the only one having to repeat blocks over and over because of one error. So much words to stumble over. Only thing what I try is to always finish a block even when I do a mistake. It helps me to stay in the flow memorise the whole part and be less frustratrated.

    Glad i'm not the only one that has to take multiple takes of each clip!
    I really appreciate that you explained what you was thinking through for each section and why you did the things that you did. I also noticed that some takes you ended up speeding up your pace. Do you have to remind yourself to keep the pace and energy up? I sure do!

    Thanks so much Nick for giving us an insight to making videos. I thought it was just me tripping up on words and having to retake simple sentences several times. Awesome 👍

    This is great and really reassuring to see that my process isn't too far off from what the big dogs are doing! I talk a lot with my hands too and one of the hardest things for me in the edit is accepting the lack of continuity between takes or when I'm trimming silence.

    Thanks for this Video Nick

      @@NickNimmin Super helpful. I'd actually love to see more.
      One of the videos I've thought of making is to show what the editing process looks like for putting together a video like that. As someone just starting out and not having someone to follow with, it can be a similarly intimidating about whether I am doing the right things.

    Thanks for making this video. I really appreciate you showing your process. It's encouraging to know It's normal to have to re-read lines multiple times to get it just right.
    I have recently just started my channel and reading my script is quite a frustrating process... I have to do it over multiple days because my voice gets rather tired. I need to get myself some throat drops 😊
