Well, it's too late now, but an FYI to others or for your future reference, that cassette lockring tool would have worked just fine on that QR axle wheel.
The guide peg that is designed for thru-axle hubs is removeable. You just need to use your QR skewer to hold the tool securely in the lockring.

nice build...but if you were already switching to a 1x9 drivetrain. you should have just gotten a hollow bottom bracket. The IXF crankset on Amazon comes with the bottom bracket, cranks (depending on the package you chose) a 32tooth chainring. Doesn't cost much either.
trust me the stock seal cartridge is really heavy. The IXF crankset is so much smoother and goes well when switching to 1x drivetrain.
    Cool build btw.

I happened to like the Box 3 Prime 9 for budget bike builds, i think its a solid choice. 👌

2:39 I love my Abbey tools Crombie dual sided, It has one side for skewer, and one for 12mm hole. Having the tools on a handle makes it quick to get and work with. but for travelling I recommend to have bits instead, to use with a ratchet wrench, breaker bar, torque wrench, this saves weight.

Why a sqare taper for 40 bucks. You can get a hollotech 2 crankset from jgbike for 40 bucks

I know it’s a tittle late but you should have grabbed the cassette tool for solid axels so you can use it on all the hg drivers. Those ones with posts for 12mm or qr are just a cash grab. You could have also taken the axel out and avoided buying a new tool.

sadly Box (especially 9) is notorious for many mechanical failures. I do genuinely hope it works for you, but seeing as you've already had a couple issues I would recommend just going with basic Deore. It's much MUCH more reliable and not much more expensive. A drivetrain does not (and I can't stress that enough) have issues due to it being new, that's just isn't a thing. If anything it should perform flawlessly when initially set up and then start to wear down later.

Deore is 100x better. Deore has to be one of the best drivetrains on the market. But its super cheap so its a win win

I don't have much hope for this drivetrain. I've seen and read too much bad about it, and the others, and BOX One is horrible too, bushings wore out in less than 70 km, replacement did the same. also claimed 50T is BS, as it does not perform as good, but it does perform with 46T, then the guide pulley is at the correct spot, but for 50T I needed a road link, but also no switch to turn off the clutch makes it harder to remove the wheel. the wear was unacceptably fast, bushings is nice in theory, but the nylon bushings did not handle it, but maybe brass bushings would work, replacing bushings isntead of RD is nice, but not if you have to do it in one month.
