Hi, I'm new to sewing and trying to make the Safiya trousers, I have found the front legs to the pattern but unable to find the back legs. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Your channel just popped up! So glad to find you! I just bought the book and made the safiyas. Same issue as well. Too big on the hips. I think I'll grade down from the waist next time. What kind of elastic did you use? I can never figure out what kind is the best for waistbands! 😁
Hi, I'm new to sewing and trying to make the Safiya trousers, I have cut to front legs out but unable to find the back legs, could you please tell me where they are, any advice would be helpful. Thanks
I have been trying to trace the pattern from the book. I can't make head or tail of the drawings. Where do the front and back start and finish. I find it very confusing.
Hiya, I didn't trace the pattern. I downloaded it from tilly's website and got it printed A0 size. I'll get the pattern out from the book and have a look for you to see if I can help at all xx
@@gen_in_stitches Hi Gen, I am ok with PDF patterns but as I had gone to the expense of buying the book I thought I would be able to trace this pattern, but I am afraid not with these trousers. Just too much on the sheet, it might have helped if the different options I.e playsuit and dungarees were in a different colour. Thank you so much for your offer of help. I am having a go at the Freya top now, so much easier.
Ooh, I picked up a green dress like that from the Tu sales (£11) not sure if I should keep it just because I kept 3 jumpers and I’m trying to just buy things that I love or that are super useful (that I can’t make). Thanks for the demo - I’m new to sewing so great to see the process. (Also nice to see a fellow Brummie on You Tube too ;-) )
Yes it's a sainsburys dress 😂. I agree though I try to only buy and keep clothing I need. This was a Xmas gift though. I do try to donate clothing I haven't worn in a while so i dont build up too many clothes in my wardrobe. I try to talk a little clearer for TH-cam 😂 no one would understand me otherwise!!!
@@gen_in_stitches I’m really bad at getting rid of clothes because I always think they might go with something I buy in the future so I only donate clothes that are way too small for me and even then if i love it or it has memories, I can stash it away. Now that I’m sewing, though, I might be able to reuse those things so they can have another life.
Yes exactly! Turn those clothes into something new. I have a stash that I need to mend, just where seams have come undone. Clothing is so expensive lately! I can't justify keep buying new! X
I'm just about to cut out another pair of the Safiya trousers and I have gone down a size this time. The other pair are perfectly wearable but wanted them to fit round hips a bit smaller this time. Great video! 👍 Thanks x
Hi from one West Midlander to another! I’ve just traced out the pattern for these trousers, they’ll be the second thing I’ve made so I hope they turn out alright!
I learnt so much from you sew along! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for sharing. The trousers are really nice xxx
Love this, looking forward to seeing more 😊 x
Thankyou 😊
I made the trousers last year and I found the flat front needed iron on interfacing to stay nice and neat.

Thanks Gena, a great tutorial. I feel inspired to give these a try. I have all the books but haven’t tried any of the patterns yet. ❤️
They're fab patterns and really easy to follow x
Love the trousers. I made one, but will make several others. ❤
Such a quick and easy make x

Oh I'm glad you found me! 😁 I just use basic 1" wide elastic for waistbands. Nothing fancy xx
❤️Very nice.
Thankyou ☺️
Beautiful on you.

Yes I found them a little roomy on the hips. I'll too size down on the next pair I make x
The legs are different large it is on the pattern, so it is by purpose. It is correct?
Did you make your green blouse? I have been wanting to try the trousers. I need pockets though.
Green blouse? Did I say I was making a green blouse? 😂 I can't remember xx
Next time I make these I'm adding pockets. I may do a video on adding inseam pockets xx
@@gen_in_stitches The one you were wearing. :)
Ohhhh hahaha no I didnt no, it's from sainsburys 🤣 xx
