    So inspirational to see all those lovely dresses. I’ve just started sewing and up to now have made the Stevie and the Lotta dress. I found them both really enjoyable to sew. I’m definitely going to make a tie belt for the Stevie, what a great idea! Thank you.

    Lovely makes as usual Cath. I agree about the facing on the Indigo. It really annoys me that it doesn’t stay flat.

      Thank you very much. Yes in hindsight I wish I’d finished the necklines of my indigos with bias binding.

    Watching this again as I cut out my favorite TATB patterns! Indigo and now Mabel! I need a palate cleanser and want to make a dress I know I will love and wear on repeat so I am making these today. I haven’t made the Freya but I did do a toile. I didn’t like it and the fabric was very cheap, from a thrift store. I may do the top of it and add a gathered skirt and see if I like it more. I am batch cutting ❤ because it is my least favorite part and I find it helps me sew more.

    After making many pinafores and tops to wear under them, I thought I’d look for some easy-to-wear dress patterns to try, and was considering Tilly and the Buttons. You’ve sold me on the Indigo to try first (and I share your preference for bias binding vs facing wherever I can sub them), and most likely the others in time. Thank you for such informative vlogs; they’re really helpful. And it also gives me courage to keep working on my grading skills, to hear about your sewing journey, and how you’ve learned along the way. (I.e., not everything’s come out perfect the first try).🙃

      @@madebycathcraft Loved it! I also have some French Terry I’ve been trying to decide what to do with, and I found their pattern so lovely I think I’m going to try the Billie in the dress version (I haven’t decided which sleeves yet). You’ve also given me the courage to try more patterned fabric than I used to, after seeing your projects sewn up. A black wide flannel with small white tulips and a blue leopard-style print wide flannel went on sale for an online Boxing Day sale today, sooo… I thought they’d be great for some more Indigo dresses!😁

    Wow, they are all so pretty! Lots of inspiration, thank you 🙏 I am a massive fan of the Agnes top, but haven't ever made it into a dress... Maybe one day. I have the Lotta pattern and some fabric earmarked for it, so I shall look forward to making that in the Spring. I also plan to make a Freya top with the cowl neck, when time permits, so it was great to see yours, and reassuring that you said it was easy to attach the neck piece 👍 Thanks for sharing, Cath!

    A very nice collection of Tilly dresses. Love that you were able to remake your first Freya. What luck to happen upon the same fabric years later. My fav Tilly dress patterns to sew are the Coco and the Joni. Have multiple versions of each. The Coco does benefit from a more substantial fabric to hold the shape, I think. The Joni dress is super fun to wear with it's full skirt, my versions range from cotton jersey to stretch velvet. You should give that one a try since you already have the book. Thanks for taking the time to record your videos.

    I really enjoyed this, thank you. I've never made a Tilly pattern before and I love the look of the Freya with the ruffle. I'm off to watch a forward shoulder adjustment vide now. I finished a lovely top today but the collar is maybe too high in the neck as I'm getting an odd crease/fold running across. and from what you mentioned, perhaps that's what I need to do.

    Good Morning ! When you talk about the autumn weather I get so excited as I will be making my annual trip to London in a few weeks. Due to Covid, it will be two years since I have been there, and I am so looking forward to the English weather. I am a true Anglophile who lives in the Texas, much warmer, weather. :O) I look forward to your posts every week, and they are the first thing that I look for with my coffee on Saturday mornings. My question is, how tall are you? The photos of you wearing your garments are a great reference regarding appearance, but I am only 5'3" and wonder about comparison for scale reasons. I have also ordered the knit Tillie book; I have been sewing since I was about 12, but I like the simplicity of the Tillie makes that you have shown.
    Thanks !! Have a great week!!

    Really interesting vlog Cath. I had exactly the same experience as you with the coco. I used a cotton jersey and the neckline stretched out and was too big. I was blaming my poor making but it must just be because it was a cotton jersey.🤔

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Clair 😊 Yes I think the fold over the fabric and sew method doesn’t work great for cotton jersey. If I make the coco again I’ll definitely try a different way of finishing the neckline. Thank you for watching
