Welcome back, screen fanatics! I hope you enjoy this new style of video! Working hard to improve each video as we go. I'm REALLY excited for the next video too. Let me know what your monitor setup is like? Are we single monitor, duel, triple, or UltraWide? Oh and, get 1Password for a quarter of the cost of a Netflix subscription with my discount! It helps support the channel. Thanks! geni.us/1PasswordPersonal / geni.us/FamilyPasswordManager
Dude I stumbled on your channel for a review on the Sony vs Bose and I’ve been binge watching all of them. You are of my favorite now. I’m from Albuquerque, New Mexico USA
Another con that wasn't considered here: some of us need to share a full screen because we're presenting from a number of apps during a single presentation. Therefore sharing just the one "app window" doesn't suffice and becomes cumbersome when you switch between apps being shared. Another problem: sharing slides in PowerPoint in "presenter mode". A single ultrawide hasn't solved this problem yet. Worth considering carefully for the professional presenters out there.
Just upgraded to my first ultrawide - a midrange Philips 100Hz 34 inch model, from a 32 inch 4K monitor and a separate 24 inch 1080p one. Wow has this made a difference to my quality of life for work! Smearing is a bit of an issue in games at 100Hz since this is a VA panel but all in I’d still consider it a huge upgrade.
I agree. For PC gaming, Ultrawide is the GOAT for me. I have the 42inch C2 and the LG 45inch OLED Ultrawide and I still prefer using the latter over the former despite the lower resolution. Ultrawide is just much more immersive for me.
Adore UWs. Definitely couldn't go back. Used to use LG UWs but now fully into Dells with their awesome connectivity. The KVM is a godsend for switching and using multiple computers. The only downside is the initial setup and it can be complicated to figure out which cables to attach where and making sure they are rated for power and data etc. Glad the Dells come with lots of cables in the box. I tend to use a simple 50/50 split and not mix it up with advnced layouts like FancyZones. Yeah, it's shame the Dells aren't FreeSync/GSync for gaming but I generally use a TV rather than my UW because UWs are hard to drive for gaming unless you have a high-end GPU.
Pleeeeeaaaaase test the new Dell U4025QW with an M1 & M2, it looks like the perfect companion for Macbooks Pro (RJ45, 5K2K, 120hz, 600nits, color accuracy...). As a programmer I want to buy it, but the lack of review is worrying me, especially at the asked price (+1800€!!!) Nice video as always! Thanks
Hi, I want to buy a 34’ ultrawide & have a question regarding the sharing screen point. When i share my screen in teams will it be hard for colleagues to see? you mention it in the video do you mean you just share your specific window you’re working on?? I’ve heard this is a common problem with the ultra wides
I just got the Samsung 57" myself that I have connected to a MBP M2 Max... Pretty amazing! I'm coming from an Apple XDR, so this isn't quite the PPI of that, but I prefer the screen real estate vs the PPI I guess.
Could you review the Dell U4025QW please! Seems potentially the perfect midground between productivity and gaming with no burn in but no reviews! Great video btw and I agree, ultrawides are the way!
Thank you! Yep the dell is what I'm using here. I might look at a dedicated review! It's a really good screen. Not the best for gaming with a 5ms response time but like you said it's a great all rounder, plus the thunderbolt dock!
@@PeteMatheson One more vote for the dedicated review! And if you can, please share your opinion on how scaling looks on macOS, especially for text rendering. I haven't seen many reviews yet for the updated 120 Hz model, but with the previous version some people said it's fine and others mentioned that it loses sharpness compared to how it runs under Windows. I have a Studio Display that I bought months ago on a terrific Black Friday deal, but now I find myself wanting more space. But I love how sharp the text looks, and since I spend all my day in IDEs and writing documentation, I'm hesitant to get something that doesn't have as high PPI. And we don't get generous return policies where I live to just give it a try
I ended up liking my LG CX 48" a lot because of the ability of creating a custom Ultrawide resolution(3840x1620). That's what kinda led me to wanting a higher resolution LG 45" ultrawide.
doing the same with lg oled 55 and 3840x1650 or 3840x1800 + windowed mode and an autohotkey script thats docks the window at the bottom and removes window title bars
Would be great to see review about monitor arms for different setups. The bigger monitor you buy the more often you have to rethink if your current monitor arm will bear it
Thanks for the video, it really helps me to clarify things. I've been using 2x27" curved for about 10 years now, and i'm concerned about neck positioning. It's clear with one ultrawide you center your head. Also i casually play some adventure and fps so im looking for a 175hz+ (im using 144hz now) up to 240hz, mantaining the 1800- curved radius. Any recomendation?
Thanks for this video 😉 I just have an additional question not directly linked to the subject. Several time in the video (ex at 4:50), we can see a MagSafe support under you screen and I’m looking for something similar to put on my desk under my screen Do you have the brand of this MagSafe support ? Is it a good one ?
It's by a brand called Balolo - link's in the description for their desk but you can view their amazon shop too where you'll find all the shelf accessories :)
Great video! This was exactly what I was needing; to see the variety of wide screens and how you used them in day to day situations. My IT manager is budgeting upgrading all our CAD (actually GIS) workstations at work. We are considering widescreen options instead of dual or tri-screen again so been doing research this weekend. I'd love to know what is your best recommendation for a primarily CAD workstation and no gaming. We specialize in mapping and cartography. I'm considering recommending the Dell U3824DW. Would love the Dell U4025QW for my own workstation, but don't think I can work the budget for that almost 1k premium price jump. Besides, everyone in the office will be jealous and judgemental. lol. So I don't want to jump too far into the deep end. Thanks for the inspiration!
do you know if this ultra wide can use two divice in one minitor like a pc and a ps5 have dual control on dual pcs ? do you know witch one i should buy ?i use a dual pc setup one for streaming and recording and editing and one for gaming . i game on the second monitor i used now but i want a ultra wide where i can control two divices
Which ultrawide has been your overall favorite for work/gaming? I know the Dell doesn’t tick all the boxes for gaming but I’m looking at the new dell u4025qw for color critical digital art work, and some gaming capabilities.
It's a tough call between the 57" G9 for pure hugeness & awesomeness. But the Dell is very compelling. Higher quality than the Samsung and more accurate with colours. I didn't get on with the 5ms response time whilst playing a quick game of helldivers though... but I've also been having issues with my bluetooth connection recently so it may not have been the screen at fault there
@@PeteMatheson thanks for the response. Yeah I was looking at the 59” but the price and needing to get a 4090 to run it seems too much. At this point I think I’m gonna go with this Dell, and then save up for a dedicated 65”gaming tv hooked up to my pc and wall mounted. It’s the only way I can see having the best work and gaming setup, two separate dedicated monitors! 😆
Hey brother, awesome video/channel. I am a software engineer, working more than 10-12 hours per day I love having all my windows open. I got 2 32 4k monitors and I am thinking to change to one big 4k ultrawide one. The issue is that Dell 49 ultrawide = 2x27 monitors. Isn't that actuary reduce the available space? Also OLED monitor i think are not for me due to rish of burn-in. You got any recommendations ? Was thinking of Dell UltraSharp U4025QW but I would need another monitor on the side, or Dell UltraSharp U4924DW. whats your opinion ? :)
