This piece is absolute beauty, one of Vivaldi's finest. What amazing talent this man had, we are so lucky to be able to listen to this. Hats off to everyone in Il Giardino Armonico!
Me too. The first movement is so sad and dramatic. It's like as if you come back home to find it burning. It's like to instantly lose everyone and everything you've had literally with a blink of an eye... And the third movement is opposite: it's also dramatic but this time it's heroic. It feels like as if you went back in time and you're trying to prevent that very day while being reminded of what happened back then.
This is my favorite Vivaldi piece . This is one of the best renditions of it. I have several versions of this song and I can pick out the differences/subtitlies. Bravo to this group and conductor.

I was impressed by the RECORDING of the LUTE this time. It was the FRIST time that I was able to hear the sound of lute in basso continuo section! Well done sound man!
Because instead of using good technique they just mic'd the archlute >< There's no way in hell his technique combined with the size of that instrument would ever be heard. The basses would definitely NEVER be heard.
