    Pilot holes are recommended. Always try one out (without the bezel) to see if the screws will work OK. Then you won't risk marring the bezel. Still a good video of how not to do it. It's ok as long as you learn from your mistakes. Trying and failing = learning. That's a good thing. That's how I learned.

    Hey M.D., great video, sorry for your struggles with the screws. Had the same problem when trying to make a repair/update to an old aluminum smoker a couple years back, stainless "coated" screws from the same big box store kept breaking. Went to Ace & bought REAL stainless screws & got it done + they sell them by the screw. Cheers 🍻

    If I made one suggestion always have the doors open so when you are flying across the lake and bouncing make sure the lid will blow shutif its not latched. In this case if it jiggled open it might damage the hinges. I have a 1448 that I'm going to do similiar. good job.

I give you full credit for showing all, and I felt your pain as I have struggled with small stainless screws on a similar project that snapped off and caused a PITA problem, cheap little POS's. • @teeanahera8949
      @teeanahera8949 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelDavisOutdoorAdventures you would need an expanding foam that is suitable for external applications ie it is not able to absorb water.

    • @drewgregory2370
      @drewgregory2370 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teeanahera8949 so you must be an engineer and boat builder , please examine why manufacturers use foam in boats then if it doesn't help with anything? I've used this process and copied brands like tracker and rangers boats . It dramatically improved the performance and handling in my boat and I added 70 plus pounds to the boat in materials and the boat is 2-3 miles an hour faster and is more stable in rough conditions. I understand the foam isn't directly contacting water and it's not water tight , it simply fills all the voids in the structures needed and stiffens the hull.

    Great clasp. Rigid interior shelves. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrJOMRANMI82dPOK0qoDtHhP-JpbErUg Yeah the shelves sometimes get misaligned with their supports in the lid if you don't have the lid fully flat, or you twist the shelves as you're pulling them out, but pretty much a non issue; just reseat and you're fine. Some spools of thread are a little too big and cause the shelves to not close all the way, however with the clasp you can still get the lid locked if the shelves aren't completely collapsed without breaking things ... so far.

    Friendly tip, you shouldn’t use stainless steel screws on aluminum. Stainless is corrosion resistant but not when it contacts aluminum. The two metals react with each other and actually cause corrosion over time.

      Thanks for the tip. I knew steel and Aluminum was that way, didn't know stainless did. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
