I bought that same marine hatch to use to access and change out my filters in the ducting for the return air in my home gas furnace/ AC.

I'm just wondering why you wouldn't trace the OUTSIDE of the inner lip instead of the inside. The hole needs to be bigger than the lip, right?!

Yeah that would have definitely been the way to go, haha. After cutting I had to open the hole slightly for it to fit. I tried to account for it with the jigsaw by cutting on the outside of the line but yes tracing the outer edge of the inner lip would have made more sense.

Looks awesome. I'm planning on buying the same type of hatch lid. Do you have an affiliate link on Amazon for them?

Nice job! I was just looking at those lids on ebay and amazon. I was wondering what are you using for the box? (the inside compartment)

This is nice, but there is no actual handle/ tab to pull up the lid, you should epoxy resin a strap under the lid. I would install led lights inside the hatch so you can see inside at night! Cheers and I hope this helps you

It's surprisingly easy to open actually! The locking levels work great as a handle but adding something else might be an idea. I want to make sure its easy to walk on and I dont want anything raise to be a tripping hazard. Great idea though!
