A quick tip on store bought crust: after they come to room temp , unroll it on wax paper and roll it out. It is a thinner more crispy crust and it gives you a nice rim to seal and crimp. Roll out both pieces. You will be so glad. I also paint it with milk or cream and sprinkle it with what ever granulated sugar you have. It also makes an easy lattice crust which I prefer for fruit pies
This was my late father in laws favorite. I had a large rhubarb plant in my garden & under the big leaves lived lot's of tiny frogs! They were such a joy & I always left leaves to make a shady home for them 🥧
I don’t normally like store brand crusts. However, I saw online about how good Aldi’s pie crusts are. I took a chance and bought a box. In my opinion, it was better than the name brand crust. It was so light and easy to manage. If you try it, let me know what you think! 😋
Maybe you should use corn starch or any starch instead of flour to make it less liquid. To let the rhubarb become something of a pudding. It would look more clean and beautiful. And use egg yolk for the frosting so make it softer.
Hello Renee' I watched your video on baking rhubarb pie, and made one myself. Perfect! It was so easy, I'll make more this summer. Thank you for the easy directions. I make my own crust since it is so easy with oil. Flaky and tasty. Thanks again. Bill
Renee, you got me with rhubarb..my favorite pie in this world...wish I had a rhubarb plant..use to have one and miss it..rhubarb so costly in the stores..😊❤
I’m loving this season and my first with a lovely new rhubarb plant! It’s small still but I have big hopes and dreams for it! 😊 Lil hint for you, Rene, if you roll out the bottom crust a bit it does fill a 8” pie dish. But if you want a better crust, make some batches of pie crust up and keep them in the freezer. Makes the pie taste like you worked hard on it. 😂
I decided on your recipe because it is so close to how I'd bake my apple pies. Keep it simple and it is still so very tasty! Nice job on sealing that pie!
This is exactly how I make my mothers apple pie, except I use granny apples sliced very thin, and add cinnamon. I love your video's because they are truly real. I have sent much worse looking pies to school functions because they sell buy the slice, lol. I have so many questions about rhubarb, do you start it from seed, is it a perirenal, does it tase similar to celery?
It is started from a root ball although the plants were here when we bought this place so I was lucky. It comes back every year in spring, one of the first plants to have leaves pop up in soil. It is very tart. And although it looks stringy, it isn’t really. It gets softer than celery. Technically I do believe it is a vegetable but used like fruit! Thank you so much! I want to be real and show how it is for me. 😊. Your mom’s pie sounds great! I will have to try that
I've always wanted to make a strawberry and rhubarb pie but never knew what to do with the rhubarb. Only seen it in the grocery store once. So I appreciate your video. I'll be looking for rhubarb in the store again. Thank you so much, can't wait to make a pie!

I had no idea how expensive it can be! We have five plants so plenty 😊
Ooohhhh you sure drew me in with that Thumbnail... that pie looks AMAZING!!!!!!!! Wow, that WAS easy. I always pinch my pie crust.
I pinch too. Jim always used a fork to seal when he made one. Before we got married, now he doesn’t lol. Thank you.

Thank you!! It is simple but we think the rhubarb really shines
Trader Joe's is the best store bought pie crust. IMHO
I have never tried theirs!!! Trader Joe’s is a couple hours away. My daughter goes occasionally, it will have to be on the list!
So easy AND so good!
Yes!!!
Oh wow!! I keep seeing these post’s with rhubarb. I really want some!!! I haven’t had any in years!!!!
It is the season!!! I will have a rhubarb vanilla jelly recipe next week. 😊
My grandpa used to make me a rhubarb pie for my birthday every year. I haven’t had one in years. I’m gonna have to find some rhubarb!
@@ripster8766 I hope you can find some!
So neat to see a different way to make rhubarb pie! Our family recipe uses tapioca and brown sugar ♥️
That sounds really good!! I will need Toney that.

Saving this video for later watching. Thank you 😊

Never had a pie with only rhubarb. I have had one with strawberries and rhubarb. I would like to try it.
It is tarter. Jim likes the tart/sweet flavor
You can roll out store bought pie crust just a bit to fit a deep dish pie plate. Works wonder.
Great suggestion!
I haven't had this in so many many years.
It is a classic 😊
Great idea, I have to make my crust though, but not a problem. I can't eat pie from any restaurant, I'm spoiled by good pie crust, lol.
I understand! I need to make pie crust and freeze it for quick pies
I keep seeing Rhubarb recipes, and they look amazing, but i've never had it before.
It is pretty tart but sweet with the sugar. Like a sweet tart candy lol I wish it grew everywhere
I'm unable to load the page for printable recipe from all recipies
www.allrecipes.com/recipe/12316/fresh-rhubarb-pie/. Does this work?
1 ⅓ cups white sugar
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 (14.1 ounce) package double-crust pie pastry, thawed
4 cups chopped rhubarb
1 tablespoon butter
@@pikecreekfarm yes thank you ❤️
Have it in the oven right now I’ll let you know how it goes!
You have inspired me to make one tomorrow!
Aldi’s has the best, closest to homemade. I use them for my pies I sell. People rave about it.
Thanks for the tip! We have an aldis a half hour away that I will need to go to. I have a pie in the oven now lol
Turned out great, thank you so much.
Great to hear! You’re so welcome!
Your pie looks really nice.

My husband’s favorite!

We do too!
Can't find rhubarb in my part of TX
Bummer. I know in the southern states it can be a challenge to find. I wonder if it is sold frozen
I'm in the panhandle of Texas and I haven't seen it either
Got one in oven. Waiting now😊
Hope you like it!
@@pikecreekfarm turned out perfect. It needed more sugar ugh. But perfect
Great video
Thanks!
This afternoon I saw rhubarb in the grocery for $8.99 p/pound….I left it on the shelf.
Wow!! That is unbelievable. I would have left it too.
Very Kosher.
Really? Wow. I had no idea.
Everyone is posting rhubarb some thing or another
It is the season!! I made rhubarb vanilla jelly too and rhubarb bread and froze it.
