Video is fantastic, affordable kit and saved me a good chunk of money doing it myself over going to the dealer. These trim pieces are very easy to remove and re-install, not a single clip broke during the process.
Awesome instructions! Another video I saw had the cables run through the center console, removing the gear shift etc. which looked very cumbersome. Your way with running the cables through the side worked great! Thanks!
No problem at all. One of our main goals is to provide upgrades, repairs, and replacements that are accessable to all customers. We support and cater to DIY customers so a lot of our kits are much easier to install then pieces you will see elsewhere. I am glad our solution was helpful.
I can’t stand that my car didn’t come equipped with this feature. All my other vehicles dating back to 2015, already had this installed. Very inconvenient 😔
Very accurate and usefull, and without maybe inncesary warnings like remove sd car before doing the change or disconect battery, although i made with battery disconected, and works in both ways. Thanks.
Once upgraded to CarPlay, is the Bluetooth lag gone? I’ve essentially been bypassing this by using a Bluetooth adapter connected to AUX. The tradeoff is losing some button functions on the wheel. Does this fix the Bluetooth lag? Or is that a completely different module?
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a bit different becuase it is either hard wired in or for Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto it uses the WiFi in the vehicle. The bluetooth connection is not strong enough for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The kit in this video is wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but neither of them having any sort of lag similar to what we see with the bluetooth feature.
Understood, no problem! We have this page on our website where you can punch in your zip code, and you'll get a list of the closest verified installers in your area. infotainment.com/verified-installers/ The software update needs to be ran before the hardware installation, or else the software will hit an installation error.
Hey I own Mazda 6 2016. do you have a guide installing the kit on the vehicle? and will this upgrade interfere with connecting a subwoofer and new aftermarket speakers?
This is the installation video for this package. We also have a PDF installation guide as well. infotainment.com/cdn/uploads/Mazda-Connect-Apple-CarPlay-_-Android-Auto-Upgrade-Installation-Guide.pdf
Good question. I have the 2016 Mazda CX-5 with the in the dash screen. So I'm guessing this means I would have to have the screen unit replaced as well. 😞
I am in Australia and I have the mazda 2 2015 with MZD Connect infortainment, is this going to suit me? Every time I look for a retrofit kit, it states that compatibility is for 2016-2019 models so I am not sure it will wok on mine. thanks.
Mazda did not produce a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto unit until 2023-24 so vehicles before that do not have access to that feature yet. This is something we are still working on. Use this form to stay updated. infotainment.com/product-live-interest-form/
Hello, My Mazda CX5 2017 display is not working. The screen is not broken, but all I can see is the mazda logo. The reverse and side camera appears on good days. I always wanted to upgrade to apple carplay, but seeing your video, it seems that the Mazda firmware is critical for this upgrade. Do you have another option for when the firmware is not available like mine. I am told the display unit will require north of $1000 to repair.
Ah we don't have a solution at this time. It sounds like the radio module either has a motherboard issue or severe software corruption. I would check around for radio repair facilities to see if it can be repaired for less than $1000. Is that the price that Mazda quoted for a replacement radio unit? Or is that the repair price they offered?
This particular package is tuned to factory OEM specification. Unfortunately we would not be able to offer any advice on after market programming services.
Yours is already up to date to be compatible: "Please ensure your existing Mazda Connect system has a software level of 30.00.XXX or higher." This kit will include an update as well to update to the latest software.
As long as it is above 30.xx.xxx you should be fine. 59 should have no issue. infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/infotainment-radio-upgrades/m-kit30/
I am having an issue with Ghost Touch on my Mazda. Can i install this and disconnect the touch screen ribbon cable? Also, will my phone blue tooth still work if i choose not to plug into the USB?
Since CarPlay is primarily accessed through the touch screen, I highly recommend having the screen replaced or repaired. The bluetooth function will remain the same, so you can still use bluetooth for audio and phone calls... But if you're trying to use CarPlay, the phone must be plugged in, and you have to use the touch screen.
Please ensure your existing Mazda Connect system has a software level of 30.00.XXX or higher. As long as the current software level is at the minimum requirement or higher, it will be compatible.
No this will come with a USB media flash drive for the programming aspect. Here is the link. infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/infotainment-radio-upgrades/m-kit30/
I had this all connected and working well, someone hit my car and it went to the dealership, now my car play isn’t working 🙄 how do I troubleshoot and get this working again.
If the car play quit working after the collision, it's possible that the connections to the USB hub may have become disconnected. But if the car play quit working after the dealership service, it's possible they could have altered the software or replaced the radio unit and it no longer has the car play. You can try re-running the software USB to see if that fixes the issue (as long as the software is above 30.xx.xx)
That's correct. If you already had functioning CarPlay and it is no longer recognizing the phone or charging the phone, I would think that just replacing the USB interface would do the trick. Maybe you could check fuses for anything that references "Outlets" or "USB Interface" first just to verify (that is if you are not getting a charge to the phone when plugged in)
This is fully compatible. This is designed to add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to your vehicle. infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/infotainment-radio-upgrades/m-kit30/
Yes this upgrade would be fully compatible with a 2019 CX-9 and this is a very easy upgrade to install. Cost on this $299.95. infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/infotainment-radio-upgrades/m-kit30/
Absolutely, well, technically the software is part of the installation kit. We don't offer the software outside of the kit. infotainment.com/shop/interior-accessories/infotainment-radio-upgrades/m-kit30/

We unfortunately don't have the Japan version of this software, and I do not think that the radio will accept the update being specific to a different region. I highly recommend looking into some forums to see if someone has successfully converted the region from Japan to North America via software updates, perhaps there is a work-around.
This particular upgrade is meant to gain the Apple Carplay/Android Auto functionality on vehicles that are not equipped with the feature from the factory. This upgrade requires a hard wired connection to access the feature. It will not be a wireless connection.
You will still have bluetooth for Audio streaming and hands-free calling but bluetooth connection is not strong enough for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This generation is wired. They should be releasing a wireless system for the 24-25 vehicles.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto do not require any additional manual updates. Those features update daily automatically. Can I do that for my Mazda 3 hatchback 2015? I have a big screen in my car exactly the same but it’s just 2015. Thank you!
Unfortunately we do not offer anything for the Mazda 3 until 2017. We have not found a solution yet for the 2015.
will I be able to use the touch screen while in motion or will it still be locked to only when stopped?
Mazda ensured this cannot be changed. Even with this upgrade it cannot be used in motion unfortunately.

Hi, just wondering what tool you used to get the 10mm bolts off. I can’t seem to get them out.
This was done using a 10 MM wrench socket on a generic muti use wench.
Use an impact wrench

Is the touchscreen only for 2020 cx5s? If I do this in a 2017 cx5 will it become touchscreen?
This upgrade does not make the radio touch screen unfortunately.
What about for a mazda 3 sport 2024.
Please ensure your existing Mazda Connect system has a software level of 30.00.XXX or higher. As long as the current software level is at the minimum requirement or higher, it will be compatible.
Can i do that to my mazda cx-8 2019?

is there an easier way so that I don'r have to remove anything, but hack it with a USB stick and install a file or an app to the OS?
No, after extensive testing we have found this is the easiest way to gain Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
@@Infotainment_nav Is it a chore to snap everything back onto the dash board? I head sometimes the pins bend and won't fit back on perfectly. :(
