A friendly word to the trolls: not a single comment has (yet) been removed so if you are repeatedly making that false claim, then might I suggest you go back and review the Ten Commandments. Also a friendly reminder: the moderator reserves the right to block repeat offending trolls.

@midairfortress-revert NO one is making a false claim. Is it possible YT is censoring comments? Maybe. Before you accuse Christians of lying, perhaps you should question the one's who you are deriving this income from. Have you done this?

@@francismarion6400 Trolls have regularly accused me and/or the moderator (not YT) of intentionally removing comments, and those are in fact patently false claims. Although I have neither the time nor inclination to do so, I may eventually be forced to block those commenters who repeatedly demonstrate their inability to govern their own conversation with charity and respect for others, whether they agree or disagree with the content.

@Spiritof76Catholic I didn't go searching for this channel. I clicked on a Catholic page one time months ago and so now the algorithm sends everything Catholic my way. I read some and respond to some. Others I ignore. These type things appear to stir up as much decisiveness as comradery. As a Law Professor and son, grandson, nephew and cousin of sincere and faithful Baptist Pastors in Portugal, I came across the writings of the Church Fathers. I was aware of their role in the building of the Western civilization. As I read and studied them I developed a deep love and attraction for the Catholic Church. I was incorporated in the Catholic Church and joined a Parish next to my home. My wife and son joined me and were also incorporated in the Catholic Church. My son plays and sings in the Choir two Masses every Sunday and is now dating a very gentle and sincere Catholic girl from our Parish who has worked as a missionary in Angola for 2 years. All this took us all by surprise and I keep it all in my heart. Next year I will start a formal 3 years theology course in our Diocese, praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

@@jperez7893 that reluctance is primarily emotional, not logical. For a devout Protestant, like I was, Catholicism is an existential threat. Accepting Catholic doctrine and practice could mean the loss of relationships - family especially - and even the loss of livelihood. Many Protestant theologians cannot even begin to look at Catholicism objectively until they admit their fear of loss and decide they will go wherever the evidence leads, because that’s where Christ is. It is huge lift for most of them to get there. It took me two years to get to the point where I admitted that I needed to become Catholic. It’s a long, emotionally agonizing journey.

As a former (40+ year) devout 5-sola & Calvinist Protestant who was “red-pilled” by the ancient Church, I would like to gently remind my fellow Catholics that no Protestant can reasonably even attempt to objectively process even the most basic Catholic apologetic argument until they acknowledge what I refer to as their “emotional obstacles to objectivity.”
Every devout Protestant harbors deeply-ingrained prejudices against Catholicism. Even if they are very ecumenical in their perspective, they believe that the Catholic Church is fundamentally flawed per se. Because of those prejudices, arguments for Catholic faith and practice necessarily elicit fear. That deep-seated fear is essentially, “If I become convinced of the rightness of Catholicism, my entire life would be thrown into upheaval.”It is no exaggeration to say that most devout Protestants have a true existential fear of Catholicism being proven right because of the implicit ramifications in their personal lives.
Just as “all politics are local,” so “all theology is personal.”

Yes, I totally understand that. It took years of going deep into the subject for famous protestants to realise what the TRUTH is. Another problem is their family and friends who are shocked to the core and that is difficult to undergo.
I met someone the other day and he said :" The Catholic Church is the only church attacked from all directions. That proves to me that it is the TRUE Church. " What happened to Christ during His lifetime , happens to His Church too . He promised that: " the gates of Hades will not overcome it." We trust those words and if the Church has not been destroyed in 2000 years it will never be destroyed.

Sola scriptura destroys unity by taking the Word of God and turning it into the words of men. Here is a quote from Jerome that says it all: As St. Jerome put it, in his comments on the Epistle to the Galatians (speaking against the Luciferians), "Let us be persuaded that the gospel consists not in the words but in the sense. A wrong explanation turns the Word of God into the word of man, and, what is worse, into the word of the devil; for the devil himself could quote the text of Scripture; " and he did so when he tempted our Lord in the desert. 1 CORINTHIANS 11:18-19
For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be *divisions among you;* and I partly believe it. 19For there *must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.*
Paul states that heresies must be in order to understand those that are approved (Pastors, teachers) are made known to the Christian.
The Church (whether catholic or Protestant) is not infallible. The Apostles were not infallible:
Peter denied Jesus THREE TIMES (Matt 26:34).
Peter rejected the vision in Acts Ch. 10 TWICE, so God had to show him the vision THREE TIMES (Acts 10:13-16)
Paul grieved the Holy Spirit by disobedience:
    ACTS 21:3-4 (v. 12-14)
Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden. 4And *finding disciples,* we tarried there seven days: *who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.*
And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, *besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.* 13Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. 14And when *he would not be persuaded,* we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
Paul disobeyed the Holy Spirit and went to Jerusalem.
IF the Apostles were NOT infallible and the early Church was not infallible WHAT was?
There are NO errors in the written word.
    1 PETER 1:20-21
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: *but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.*
Private interpretation has nothing to do with reading the Bible for yourself.
    JOHN 10:34-35
Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, *and the scripture cannot be broken;*
    HEBREWS 12:12-13
For the *word of God is quick,* and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, *and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.* 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest *in his sight:* but *all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him* with whom we have to do.
QUICK, adjective [If q is a dialectical prefix, as I suppose, this word coincides with the Latin vigeo, vegeo, and vig, veg, radical, coincide with wag.] 1. Primarily, alive; living; opposed to dead or unanimated; as quick flesh. Leviticus 13:10. The Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead. 2 Timothy 4:1.
The scripture is ALIVE. It can discern your thoughts and intents. It sees ALL MEN. Can "tradition" do this? The church "fathers?"
The Church Fathers wrote the epistles and Books of the New Testament:
    1. MATTHEW (Levi, son of Alphaeus, an Apostle) [Matthew]
    2. JOHN MARK (accompanied Paul and Mark on their missionary journeys) [Mark]
    3. LUKE (physician and disciple to Paul) [Luke and Acts]
    4. JOHN (son of Zebedee, brother of James, an Apostle) [1,2,3, John, Revelation.]
    5. PAUL (the LAST Apostle) [Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon and Hebrews.]
    6. JAMES (son of Zebedee, brother of John, an Apostle) [James.]
    7. PETER (an Apostle) [1 and 2 Peter]
8.. JUDE (Labbaeus Thaddaeus, an Apostle) [Jude.]
and the LORD Himself (9) writes the seven letters to the angels of the seven churches in Revelation.
Clement, Ignatius of Antioch, or Polycarp of Smyrna were NOT Church "fathers."
    REVELATION 2:1-2
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; 2I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: *and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:*
    2 TIMOTHY 3:15
*And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,* which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
The scripture is INSPIRED, INNERANT and PRESERVED.
    Heresy existed in Paul's day:
    GALATIANS 1:6-8
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be *some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.* 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Here you have a false gospel.
    1 Cor. 15:12-15
Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, *how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?* 13But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 15Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
Here you have the heresy rejecting the resurrection of the dead.
    2 TIMOTHY 2:15-18
*Study* to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing *the word of truth.* *16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.* 17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is *Hymenaeus and Philetus;* 18Who concerning *the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.*
Here you have two men who were preaching heresy. How do we know they were preaching heresy? SCRIPTURE.
    2 THESSALONIANS 2:1-3
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by *spirit,* nor by *word,* *nor by letter as from us,* as that the day of Christ is at hand.
    *3Let no man deceive you by any means:* for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Here you have Paul warning the Thessalonians about fake letters.
    2 TIMOTHY 1:15
This thou knowest, that *all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.*
At the end of Paul's ministry, the apostasy was widespread in ASIA.
These Christians were led astray by HERETICS. How? By rejecting scripture. Paul also warned of the apostasy to come from those without AND THOSE WITHIN the Church:
    ACTS 20:27-31
For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. 28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29For *I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.* 30Also of *your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.* 31Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
It is strange that men will use the excuse of 1001 "protestant denominations" to NOT STUDY THE BIBLE because they are spiritually lazy. They instead become Catholic because of the "majority" or the "church fathers" or because they are unwilling to read the BOOK.
What did Jesus say of the scripture?
In His earthly ministry Jesus referred to the scriptures 20 times by the phrase "IT IS WRITTEN", if not more. (Matt. 4:4, Matt. 4:7, Matt. 4:10, Matt. 21:13, Matt. 26:24, Matt. 26:31, Mark 7:6, Mark 9:12, Mark 9:13, Mark 14:21, Mark 14:27, Luke 4:4, Luke 4:8, Luke 4:10, Luke 7:27, Luke 19:46, Luke 24:46, John 6:31, John 6:45, and John 12:14) Jesus quoted scripture, never the tradition of any scribe, priest or Pharisee of His day.
    Jesus wasted the Pharisees tradition.
    Paul referred to the scriptures 32 times by the phrase "IT IS WRITTEN," in Acts 23:5, Rom. 1:17, Rom. 2:24, Rom. 3:4, Rom. 3:10, Rom. 4:17, Rom. 8:36, Rom. 9:13, Rom. 9:33, Rom. 10:15, Rom. 11:8, Rom. 11:26, Rom. 12:19, Rom. 14:11, Rom. 15:3, Rom. 15:9, Rom. 15:21, 1 Cor. 1:19, 1 Cor. 1:31, 1 Cor. 2:9, 1 Cor. 3:19, 1 Cor. 9:9, 1 Cor. 10:7, 1 Cor. 14:21, 1 Cor. 15:45, 2 Cor. 4:13, 2 Cor. 8:15, 2 Cor. 9:9, Gal 3:10, Gal 3:13, Gal. 4:22, and Gal 4:27. This does not include other places that Paul cites the Old Testament in his epistles.
    ROMANS 3:4
God forbid: yea, *let God be true, but every man a liar;* as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
    2 PETER 1:20-21
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: *but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.*
The scripture was written down AFTER men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. If every man is a liar because he has LIED (Romans 3:4) the EXCEPTION would be what men spake as MOVED BY THE HOLY GHOST (2 PETER 1:20-21)

Where is the "Sin of presumption" in the NT Church record?

    • @srich7503

That would have to go all the way back to the nature of Christ when He established said church.

Presumption is a rash expectation of salvation without making proper use of the necessary means to obtain it & is thus a sin against hope. I know this to be true without having relevant passages to support it.
Once saved always saved is not biblical, so if one believes this, it is the sin of presumption which, I know to be true.

History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, - the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, - the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century, - not only did they not agree but their individual lists of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time, growing in numbers of hundreds of “inspired” NT writings.
Therefore, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved it by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself?

"Top Scholars are the university's most distinguished merit award recipients. They display extraordinary academic talent, exemplary character and remarkable leadership skills12."
The teacher in the class might go over knowledge and the student might excel, but that does not make one a scholar, at least in the biblical sense.
It says nothing about hermeneutics (chronology, time indicators, audience relevance, grammar, setting, originals languages of the scriptures), about discernment when reading church history, it says nothing about understanding timeline of the bible, for example the real timeline of Peter in the bible etc. This is why I stated to define it. Those who are well grounded in hermeneutics and exercises a great level of discernment of church history, do not convert to Catholicism. For example, I figured out the last day of the house of Israel (John did not live past September 22, AD73 sorry), put together the biblical timeline of Peter, and took the time to exhaustively study the Peter of the bible, and there is no way that man ever stepped foot in Rome despite the claims of "church fathers" (he was not a Roman citizen and would have violated his conscious, did not speak the languages of Rome, was to feed the house of Israel (even during their famine), and was to go through the cities of Israel until the judgment of the Son of Man, and did not have time to be an overseer/bishop and never referred to himself as one, and even withdrew from the Gentiles immediately after he preached to the Gentiles one time). There are at least 13 different authors who has been labeled as "church fathers" whose writings has been modified. Peters grave was fabricated in the 4th century, and the archaeologist claimed he was uncertain it was Peter's, yet billions today are more certain than he was, lol. Billions have been fooled.
