Well, the opening proposers nailed it. It’s not that I’m a feminist or believe that women are better leaders than men (we are equal), but the arguments and statements made during the debate really stood out. Regardless of my own opinion, the opening team aced it. They addressed the actual motion, unlike the opposing team, who were supposed to argue why women aren’t necessarily better leaders but instead took the debate in an entirely different direction by focusing on equality. Of course, there’s no doubt that men and women are equal, and leadership qualities depend on individual capabilities, but that wasn’t the motion. The opposing team did a poor job of providing any substantial argument for why men might be better leaders than women.
