    The hardest part of upgrading from my old iPhone to my new one was giving up the bifold Nomad case whose patina I'd developed for over a year. So to assuage my sadness, I got another Nomad case for my new phone! They're beautiful, protective, and age into something truly lovely. I plan to stay a customer for a long, long time.

      That’s great to hear! I’m always cautious when a product is new- of course it’s going to be nice. That’s why the followup videos are so important!

    I will definitely second this great review. I was in the same camp as you before, not really putting too much thought into my tech protection. I received a very nice Piel Frama case many years ago for my old iPhone 6S, that was made in Spain with great leather (with a price to match), but I ran into the stretching problem that you brought up, which basically rendered the case useless for device protection. I found that if I wanted device protection with quality leather, you had to sacrifice practicality. I saw Nomad through an ad on Facebook and was impressed that they used Horween leather. So early this year, I bought a matching set for my AirPod Pros and my iPhone XR and haven’t looked back. They do an excellent job of implementing that rugged/high quality aesthetic and feel without losing any of the practicality. It’s a very understated and refined design that does exactly what it’s supposed to do (protect your device), and just looks better with time. I haven’t ran into any of the stretching problems that made my previous $100+ Piel Frama case useless after a few months. It’s very reasonably priced and well worth it.

    So I bought one of these with the magsafe caseback about 3 months ago for my iPhone 12 Pro. It's a well designed and manufactured product. Everytime I pick up the phone I appreciate what a pleasant tactile experience the Nomad case is. The only negative was the cost after taxes & shipping charges to Europe was steep (the equivalent of 90 USD) and Nomad didn't flag this at the time of purchase. I'd buy it again however so that's how much I like this case. Thanks for the review Carl.

    I’ve had the AirPods Pro case since it came out and it’s held up great. Unfortunately they never did a case for the iPhone 8+. I’m definitely trying the phone case whenever I upgrade my phone next. Thanks for mentioning it has a lip around the screen. With small kids using my phone it’s a must.

    I wish I had gotten the Nomad case or even the brown leather Apple case when I got my 7 Plus. I think I would’ve enjoyed the patina. For some reason I decided to get the black leather Apple case. I guess I figured it would hide dirt and stains better. I must say that over 3 years later with daily use, it is still holding up great. Now I don’t even want to get rid of it because I want to see how long it’ll last lol

    Just ordered the natural rugged case. No treatment or dyes used. It’ll definitely patina nicely since it’s almost white in color. I’ve had multiple nomad cases, and while their buttons are trash, everything else is a solid case.

    It hasn't gotten here yet, but I ordered the Airpods Case because of this video. I have an older iPhone 6s Plus that I will be upgrading very soon... so if I like the Airpods case as much as I think I will, I already know what case I'll be getting for my phone. Great Videos, and keep up the good work... even through THE DARK TIMES!!!!!

    Jeff over at Cutlerylover has a Saddleback Leather phone case. He said when he first got it, it fit snugly but over time it stretched out. Now the phone moves around in the case and is worthless.

      @@CarlMurawski I had to backtrack a quarter mile and search for it. It was laying face down so that initial flip to see if there was damage was a major shock to find an intact screen. Since then the nomad has been my go to case.
      Get yourself some uv glue on Amazon and add small dots over the rubber buttons. It makes them more pronounced and easier to identify blindly.

    I have the saddle back leather phone case for my iPhone. I have had it for a little over 2 years and it has aged amazingly, it has not stretched out and fallen off my phone or anything like that. I saw the Nomad case in a store and next to the saddle back case it feels like a cheap toy. Nomad still makes good stuff I have their leather Apple Watch band and its nice but the saddle back case is another level.

    It is too bad that they only make them for Apple and Pixel products. Less than half way through this video, I opened a new tab and went to their site, only to be disappointed that they do not make any cases for anything that I own. Anybody have any suggestions of similar brands that make cases for Andriods?

  • @ADHDeez
    @ADHDeez 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't particularly recommend leather phone cases. The only way they can make them is gluing leather to a plastic shell. Had my nomad case for a little over a year before the corners started peeling, and eventually I had to just take the rest off. If you upgrade phones every 2 years, and don't mind replacing it every year then go for it.

  • @stevenr5534
    @stevenr5534 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Carl,
    The Nomad cases look very nice; but, do they make them for Android phones?
    An even more important issue is how well the case will protect your phone. From doing a lot of physical work, my experience has led me to use OtterBox cases to protect my phones. You said you had problems putting your phone in your pocket with an OtterBox cover. I usually wear cargo work pants by Carhartt, Duluth Trading, or Riggs the large pockets usually have no problem holding my phone in an OtterBox case (I use an LG phone) For other occasions I use a Nite-Ize belt case for my phone.
    I have not used a Nomad phone case so I cannot make a direct comparison. I am just responding based on my experience as a working person. I certainly agree that the Nomad phone case looks great, and I am interested to see your reports on how it wears, and ages. Respect, and best wishes

    Using one for my iPhone X since over a year now. Here is my review;
    Protection ; what i have observed is that it aint as protective as it markets, dropped my X from the height of just 3 feet and its display is concked out. Patina ; Didn't get any ol school patina, intead got ugly bubble marks.
    Leather Quality ; Dont expect it to be a thick leather case. Its Just plastic with a very very thin leather coating on it. Discovered this when the outer layer got peeled off from just a 3 feet drop.
    Overpriced ; This thing is so pricey that you could actually buy a cheap Android and use it for 5 years.
    Lack of Durability ; I was expecting it to outlive even my iPhone X. Sadly it killed the X alongwith itself.
    Not a happy experience!
