The softer silicone will definitely not protect the phone when dropped compared to the harder plastic on the Nomad case for sure. But they grip can sure be improved on Nomad. Most of the proper rugged cases use hard plastic like Rhinoshield and Dbrand Grip case
I have this case for my iPhone 11 and dropped my phone badly so many times and screen never once shattered and I don’t have a screen protector. Also aged really well. Going to get again for my iPhone 13
@@qwazyd0gg I feel like they might get a little better with wear but not much! If my hands are ever wet I have better grip for some reason. But grip isn’t terrible but I’m sure there are way better alternatives if that is a deal breaker for some people!
@@izzyledesma2628 does your 13 case fit nicely? I have one that the bumper around the screen is a little wavy. It has highs and lows around the screen. I’m not happy with the build quality at all.
Just ordered the phone case and a wallet from them. It’s taking forever to ship from them. I hope the quality is good cause it’s getting annoying that I don’t know where my stuff is.
@@geeesegooose I will say I’ve been using nomad products since the iPhone X. One thing about their wallets is some are shipped out from Taiwan, some are shipped out from their HQ in Santa Barbara, CA. Some cases come from a part of china too so you never know where the product is shipping from. That is my one gripe with Nomad
I had the same feeling about the case. There was no way I was going to hand my phone to my kids with the lip on the case. I switched to the Mous case as the lip around the screen seems more protective in comparison. I also kept my Nomad case for more formal stuff as it seems well built.
I’m curious as well in regards to Mous longevity. I never ended up going back to this case; however, would like a “fancier” case for occasions that holds up well.
I agree. I’ve had my rugged brown leather case for about 5 months and I find the case to be pretty slippery, most importantly, the buttons are way too mushy and requires extra effort to push. Apple’s leather cases are number 1 on button feel, but the build quality on their leather cases for the 12 series has taken a step back in quality, as their leather seems and smells like pleather. Nonetheless, awesome looking case. I just hope they last.
Ah thats why my 12 mini leather case so easily teared off compared to 4 years leather case ip 7 the way they aged the more beautiful. I wouldnt go back with any leather case from apple anymore.
I have been using the Apple Silicone case which broke after four months, after 10 months I HAD to replace it. I will replace it with the Nomad case, I'll also be getting the matching traditional strap even after your remarks.
My intent with this video wasn’t to scare people aware from buying it, but to simply put educate people further as to what they may be getting for their money :)
@@qwazyd0gg I know, im very happy with your video but I was stating my decision for others and I just wanted to bash a little on the shitty apple silicone cases
i understand what you mean and NO it's not a small thing for nomad to left those strap buckle loose it's one of the most important thing in a watch strap you were totally right at that point
My strap completely fell apart. The adjustable strap loop fell off shortly after I got it, then the main forward loop as well. I don’t swim with that strap or work out with it, so for pieces to fall off and for the strap to start to separate at the seems was a little off putting for me. If it was a $20 strap I could forgive it, but not at this price point.
Summary: Nomad = Good looks, not so great handling and protection. TH-camr's opinion = I want more protection. Recommends Otterbox or other more protective cases.
I've been using the normad case for my iPhone 7 years ago. The leather on the case is TOO thin, and I think putting a piece of oil tanned leather on a hard surface is not a good idea.
Thanks, I keep hearing about how slippery the Nomad case is. Even though I do love the look...I kinda love my phone better. No question - especially now with the cold weather, super dry hands all the time (and I'm a klutz), this will find a way to the floor, or the concrete sidewalk in no time. 😆
I don't like how the Bullstrap has an open area around the speaker and lightning port. Also they do not offer much drop protection around the phone. They did fix all of these issues with the elite case, which is maybe what you are talking about, but they haven't made one of those for the 13 pro max yet. So to me it's either that or the Mous Limitless 4.0 with the pebble like leather back. Which is most likely compromising quality of leather for overall protection and use ability.
I know the "truth" narrative is for the YT algorithm, but this is all personal preference. I think it's unfair to allude to other reviewers possibly being dishonest because you personally didn't find the lip protection and grip adequate. Saying that, your feedback is still valuable for those who might be looking for a case for the upcoming iphone.
100% for the algorithm 😂 I didn’t mean to insinuate everyone else was “lying” about their positive reviews, but more so everything I’ve watched about the brand had been overly positive. Maybe that led me to nitpick a little harder than I should have as well, but either way I very much appreciate your comment :)
I have had mine three years, and I just had to replace it- why? Because it is NOT solid leather!! It is cleverly made to LOOK like it, but it is actually very thin leather sandwiched over and glued to some kind of crap in the middle... mine wouldn't have lasted this long, but I have super-glued it back together several times. These are like the difference between wood veneer, and solid wood- Nomad wants you to think it's solid, but it's actually a very thin veneer- and it's priced like it should be solid! If it was, I wouldn't be replacing mine so soon...
My watch strap already had the primary loop fail, come unglued, dislodge, and go missing. Now I have a huge tail from the buckle down that just freely flaps in the breeze :(
No worries man :) I just figured it was fitting since all the videos that led me to get Nomad accessories were 100% positive but no one seemed to mention the things that would have made me avoid the purchase, lol. I appreciate your honesty though 👊
@@qwazyd0gg very helpful. Unlike the guy above, nomad doesnt support its customers. Is sharp, and even then with the look and “protective” factor, apples leather case feels better especially on the pinky in a one hand approach.
