    I will note, the screen resolution is increased, they're both 4k screens, but the Saturn S has a higher resolution 4k screen (4098 x 2560 vs 3840 x 2400) so even with its slightly larger size, it prints 'slightly' higher resolution than the previous Saturn

      The filter isn't for fumes it's for the smell only and it's crap removes about 10% you can still smell the resin!
      You're better off buying a good quality HEPA filter with a minimum filter thickness of 2.5 inches, activated is a very poor quality filter system as it releases everything it's exsorbed with just a slight change in temperature or humidity!!
      You want a mix of activated carbon and activated aluminium to remove both odor + some VOCs and not have everything released back into your home..

    Yo, I have had one of these for a month. It's my first 3D printer. This channel led me to buy it and am beyond thrilled with almost every print. I just got magnetic build plates in today so hopefully no more cracked models coming out of the "lab". I have been giving my prints away to friends who can't believe they were "printed". Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! I have purchased, and am awaiting arrival of my Saturn S tomorrow (hopefully)! I have a request... I am looking for a video that shows tips for importing multiple pieces to the slicer program and setting up for a print. I have found MANY videos that show how to do a single part.
    I wish to setup prints that will consist of detail parts for model trains. I want to make files that contain all the pieces for a specific car. I.E. I want to build a box car, here are all the detail parts for that. Today I want to build a flat car, print this file for all those parts etc.... What is the best method for creating these print files, do I have to import every piece one at a time, or can I import many parts to the software together??? Also, tips for arranging different parts of different sizes to print efficiently. Can you stack smaller parts to match the height of larger parts... And more!!!
    If you know of a video that will help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it!!!
    Thank you again, and thank you if you can help me!!!!

    About a month or so ago, I was debating going with the Saturn or waiting for the Saturn S to have better availability. Now, I kind of wish I went with the Saturn S. I did buy the separate filters, but it would be nice to avoid the hassle of charging them. It’s also odd that more manufacturers don’t do it, because I’ve got filtering like that on my old QIDI TECH Shadow 5.5S.

    Question: Do you know of any easy to print stands for the older mars vats (like the mars 2 mono)? The old vats don't have them little feet and its rouch trying to clean the old ones with out some how touching the bottom of the fep.
    I'm currently getting 2 new vats for my mars 2 mono as something somehow got between the screen and the FEP and made a little bump. Thankfully the screen is fine but the fep def has a new dent in it but it don't look like resin so some little partical of something must have caught on with out me noticing as I was switching resins. I've failed so far in replacing the FEP in the vat (I can not get it tight with out wrinkles) I have thus ordering 2 new ones. But it would be nice to have some kind of stand I could print to easily rest the vat on.

    I had it day 1 and had to supply info to lychee for the profile to be added. I wonder why didn't the manufacturer handle this ahead.
    I'm still waiting for availability of some flexible plates for this and I'm hoping to figure out some kind of stacking manufacturing on it.
    I don't feel like filter does anything. I still had to build an exhaust setup with fan venting fumes out.

  • @RunicGamingYT
    @RunicGamingYT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I like that this comes with an air filter to filter out some of the resin fumes. However what should be noted at least last time I checked is they do not sell replacement active carbon filters for these things which means that every time you need to buy a new one you have to spend $25 on an entire new unit which frankly is kind of a waste so far I should throwing the entire thing in the garbage. That to me is not really acceptable considering the amount of E-Waste that goes into our landfills each and every day. 🤷‍♂️

    Sad that they dropped the network connectivity option. That was gold. I actually have an RJ-45 cable going straight from the house router to the Saturn so I can send files wirelessly from anywhere in the house. The only sad part is they kind of gimped the network card and it can time out for anything more complex than model bases. Still, for a 'chore' task, it be handy. :)

I've been looking at replacing my Wanhao duplicator i3 original because it's been a PitA since I got it with some major design issues (like the nozzle getting caught in the back left screw head). I always run filters and it's hard to tell as your nose is extremely sensitive. Ultimately I've seen air quality testers that show they do work to some extent but the testing I've seen is bloke in his basement with cheap testers youtube stuff. I printed holders that stack 2 each side for a total of 4 in a Saturn.
      Main issue with Elegoo is they don't support their filters by supplying replacement Activated Carbon blocks. It may be possible to rejuvenate the Carbon via a Caustic and or Acid wash, also maybe possibly heating?
      I'm unsure what type of Activated Carbon is used in the filters as there are many different types so just sticking any old carbon in from something else may not work.

    Hey Jesse, a quick question. I have to replace the FEP on my Saturn S. I know they are touting FEP 2.0 with this printer. What are your thoughts on the FEP 2.0 versus the original? I need to order a few and I would rather not spend any extra money if I do not need it. That being said, how long SHOULD an FEP last? I appreciate your efforts, it was thanks to you that I ended up buying the Saturn over an Anycubic.

    Has there been any word from Elegoo about either replacement carbon filters, or being able to buy a plug in filter units? I hate they add a consumable item on a machine and then they don't support it. I love both of my Saturn S units, and want to keep them in good shape.

    Does the Saturn S need a Z limit switch spacer like the original Saturn when using a Wham Bam flexible plate? Anyone know?

  • @brianfrazier5783
    @brianfrazier5783 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am in the last stretch of acquiring a Elegoo Saturn S, I understand that I should wait to order my "Flexible Build Plate" (from Wham Bam) until after I receive my unit to verify the plate size; however, my question is this; will I need to make and install Z Access spacers as you have to do with the Mars Series of Elegoo Resin printers? If so, are they the same size (4mm) as the Mars style, and is it the same file that is on "Thingieverse", and would I have to print two of them? I just want to get all my ducks in a row so when my printer and wash/cure stations arrive I can be off and printing in a short amount of time without issues.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hey there I was reading some reviews on redit of a lot of failed prints on the Saturn S do to the pulling force have you ever ran into that issue? If so how did you fix it if not do you have settings for the Saturn S? I’m thinking about getting one😊

      Like the prints are falling off? Just change the exposure settings. I have a Saturn S and my exposure time is 3.5sec and bottom exposure time is 35sec. Done tests with exposure time of 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 sec. 2.5 sec was under exposure so prints were brittle and weak. Had the main print fall off the supports. 3.0 and 3.5 sec was almost identical. 4.0 sec was over exposure meaning a tiny bit of loss in quality. At 3.5sec exposure time with 35sec bottom exposure, my prints have been very consistent and looks great.

    I have the original Saturn which I am totally happy with. I also have a pair of the Elegoo carbon filters that I use inside the case while printing. Not overly impressed with the Elegoo filters as I still have to run my big Honeywell air cleaner next to the Saturn while printing to take care of fumes. I'm going to pass on the S and wait for the 6K or 8K Saturn.

    • @SteveMichael
      @SteveMichael 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply. I am considering this printer and was wondering if it would work in my upstairs office room. It sounds like it would BUT I should get another air cleaner as well. With your Honeywell on does it do the job? If so what model do you use?

    • @photoboyjet
      @photoboyjet 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SteveMichael The one I have is a Honeywell HPA060 designed for small rooms. It cost less than $100 and does a good job - I place it next to the printer. There are larger and more expensive models by Honeywell that work for bigger rooms. I also use it when sanding resin prints as it has a hepa filter for removing fine dust from the air.

    I just got one, does anyone know if there's any flexplate for this model yet? The rook test file is nearly fused to my build plate...

  • @AlexanderGutsch
    @AlexanderGutsch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The funny thing is that there were several iterations of the original Saturn, which included the build volume. Got a returned Saturn (non S!) which also has a 196x126mm build volume. Noticed that when I ordered the Sovol flex plate which was only compatible with the first version of the Saturn with the smaller build volume.

    • @grazingshot
      @grazingshot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the size of the build plate, not the build volume. Both of those have been the same through all the saturn models. Plate size is 196X126, build volume is smaller then the plate at 192x120. There are 2 other plate sizes that exist due to a supply issues, but they were only for a handful of machines durum the first pre order wave.
