- We'd heard some negative things about visiting Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown. Was it actually seedy and unsafe for tourists? Or is it undergoing a rebirth? KL's Chinatown is home to some of the oldest and most unique temples in all of Malaysia, so we knew we had to visit! The oldest Tao temple in Kuala Lumpur, an amazing Ancestral Hall, the oldest HIndu temple, and famous Petaling street - we visit all of them!

Nice to see from you two after a while!
Wow those temples are beautiful. Glad you got to share such a variety. The alley artwork was amazing. Also really loved your background music choices in this video.

you can get pork belly bun here in Taiwan called Gua Bao.
As ever we are both enjoying your Malaysian Vlogs, especially as we are visiting next June/July.
On a side note can you confirm the make of the zipped daypack Heather has been using? I’d like to buy one for my wife!
Keep up the great content!
Believe it or not, but it's by Pacsafe! It looks like they've discontinued the exact one I use 😭 but it looks like Amazon still has a few left in black! I genuinely love it, especially the hidden back zipper, which I keep my phone in. Here's a link to it! amzn.to/3N5ErfN
@@TalesFromOurPocket Thank you for taking the time to provide this information!
Should ask the temple about the barbed wire. Why they installed it. Did people steal the antiques inside?
Da bao in mandarin means take away
Oh, that's funny. 😂 Thanks!!
And pronounced ta-pau by the others....
"Is KL's Chinatown SAFE to visit?", a weird title.
Click bait. I wonder what is not safe there? Foreign beggars? Homeless people?
The truth is that we normally change our title a few times, to see what works and what doesn't! We did see a fair number of social media posts (in groups) about how Chinatown is seedy and rundown - which is indeed different than "safety" so we'll probably retitle it. 😊👌
@TalesFromOurPocket it is run down because the gov here cannot force building owners to paint or repair it unlike singapore whereby their little india and chinatown looked spotless. They will be fined.
Secondly, 2nd and 3rd generation owners do not care about their grandpa's properties. All they want is rental revenue. They cannot tear it down as it is heritage buildings.
3rdly, painting is expensive because of the elements it can only last 4 or 5 years(the paint job).
You can see it all over malaysia eg ipoh, taiping, penang, melaka. But surprisingly smaller towns looked better eg kluang, muar, kuantan, Kuala terengganu. It is those larger cities or town having run down looks.
