This is SO needed! I have been a Pilot2ATC user for the last five years and have been amazed that so few people have cared about voice ATC and think that ridiculious menu based atc is reasonable. THIS is what I've been waiting for! I was mildly interested in BeyondATC but after realizing VFR and general aviation doesn't seem very important to them plus it is scripted just like P2A, I lost interest. NOW, my interest is picqued again!

Oh, it is haha. I have been in the beta for a few weeks and it's SO, SO cool. It is exactly what I have wanted in an "in-game" ATC for forever.

Its very cool yes...however it rarely has accurate taxi directions. It rarely gets a pattern entry correct., and rarely even gets the correct runway...I routinely get assigned a runway that doesn't exist at the airport. Long way to go even though Iam enjoying it.

Is there a tutorial or training option for those of us who are beginners and don't really know how to communicate with ATC? Like a mode where you are given what you should say and a guide?

We do offer a student pilot mode which will help you learn the ropes! We mimic the real world so real world learning devices are highly applicable.

For example though, I'm talking completely green, never flown a real airplane and no experience with ATC beyond the stock menus from flight sims... would someone be able to get in the cockpit, say, at the ramp, get the plane started and literally ask, "hi atc i'm new around here, what should i start with?" and it would work you through it or is it all strictly through a student pilot mode?
I'm loving dabbling in flight sim and have not used it so much as an actual sim so much as just taking off from engines on, on the runway, so this AI ATC might be just the thing that gets me wanting to take it a little more serious.

@@bangjoeofficial It is not an ATC instructor, per se. We certainly welcome ANY level, but you will likely have a better experience if you have basic comms skills (at least what to say!) We also have a thriving Discord community with all levels of sim pilots and real world pilots who can assist!

If the app had helpful voice prompts (for those just learning) that could be displayed in VR it would be amazing.
I could be mistaken, but since SayIntensions is a stand-alone app, I don’t think it can be displayed in VR, without something like FSDesktop.

What is the white noise sound in the ATC calls? Sounds like an old TV off-channel. Is this only for VFR?

VHF radio static an AM radio effect. Go to liveATC.net and listen to a live ATC feed. That's basically what it sounds like in a headset if you're a pilot.
You can turn the effect off if preferred... though it's one thing that the real pilots in our beta testing are raving about.

So is the other traffic real people, or also A.I. generated? if it's A.I. aircraft can you force it to use specific models like FS Traffic or FSUIPIC? or does it only use default Asobo A.I. traffic? I did read that you can hear other real people/players, but wasn't sure if that was exclusively other players, or a mix of A.I. pilots and real people piloes.

No Xplane at this time. It is capable, but requires double the dev effort for a very small market share of simmers. If the numbers were there we'd love to make it happen!

At this stage, it will recognize the traffic and issue traffic alerts, but AI traffic doesnt "tell" the sim ANYTHING except it's current position, so it wont sequence traffic.
We are solving that by doing our OWN traffic injection system, so you will have "real" traffic to interact with! Stay tuned!

No.. Microsoft doesn't allow XBox apps to send data out of the simulator back to a server. So this isn't possible in the X-Box world.

What about information and copilot com in VR. It’s almost impossible with vr utilities to write down long atc instruction. For VR it need at least access to a written transcript of ATC instructions. Also a copilot that can handle com in busy part of flight is important. Is this planned for this tool ?

One of our design principles from day 1 is that we wanted to be able to mimic the immersion of the real world as closely as possible. This led to a quick decision that the UI should be completely optional. You can drop it into the background and never think about it again, which is incredibly immersive in VR. (Real pilots don't have a UI they can refer to). I know when I fly VR, I use a kneeboard. A short "peak down through the hood" to write things down makes it mimic the real-world perfectly. (If a real pilot wants to remember something, they have to write it down).. with that said, at some point, we'll create an in-game UI for our VR people who need the additional help, but it's low on the list right now.
As far as a co-pilot goes who can help manage workload -- this is not on the list because there are no real world VFR scenarios that necessitate a co-pilot. Any PPL flying VFR would be expected to manage that workload on their own.

​@SayIntentionsAI I hope you will reconsider the option of adding a copilot to handle the coms. There are moments when I do not want to handle the coms but I want the realism provided by this tool. Without a copilot I will use it for less than half of my flights, and it becomes difficult to justify the price. It's also a good way to learn phraseology. And that's the advantage over tools like vatsim: not having to talk

I really hope there will be a VR toolbar app soon. Peeking under the headset to write and read instructions is an immersion-breaker. The option to at least see the written instructions as they are given would help immensely.

If you are running FSLTL you will get traffic advisories, if you are under flight following. However, FSLTL traffic is highly unpredictable so it's not possible to hear them talk, or to be sequences with them. We'll be injecting our own traffic some time in Q2, and then you'll be able to see other traffic, hear them, and be sequences with them.

General aviation VFR. We'll add the specifics of helicopter ops at some point. I guess so long as you're willing to talk to ATC like your helo is actually an airplane, it'll work great. We have a few helo pilots in the beta who are reporting good success.
