Having some experience in both...the build quality is about 10% better on the Toyota. The ride, power, space is much better on long drives on the Expedition. The seats alone were the selling point for me. Super comfy!!!! The non flat cargo area, terrible headroom height in second row and shorter seat height in third row was why we traded in. Sucks when you have 6 adults. The power is somewhat lack luster when towing a camper as well for the rated torque. The Expedition is not perfect but gets better w a 3" level, 35" Falkin AT3's and a few other performance goody's making an excellent trail rated and camping rig for our family. great channel guys, excellent content. Subscribed!!
That Expedition does have a shelf in the back. The bottom cover has an additional hinge to raise it about a foot and is supported by to fold out tabs.
Should also mention the gas tank capacities, the Expedition is over 5 gallons more. And they get really close to the same gas mileage, and with many 3rd gen Sequoia owners reporting some really bad numbers so far the Sequoia probably will get you less mpg. So another 100+ miles available to the Expedition. The Sequoia's tanks is too small.
Since 1999 my family and I have bought nothing but Lexus, Toyota and Ford. Gx460 and 470, ISF, HS250, RX350.. Sequoia, 2 tacos, matrix, Tundra and BRZ.. 5 MUSTANGS, Explorer, taurus, 3 F150's, 2 F350's and ZERO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THEM... Our Fords were just as problem free... I'm just saying... Now correct, outside of the resale value the Lexus/Toyota's were way better outside of the F150's..
So unfortunate that lack of storage space on the Sequoia was a deal breaker for me. This is coming from a Suburban. In the end I went with a Ram 2500 Laramie diesel and added a center front seat. So it sits 6 and carries a ridiculous amount of stuff for camping and long hauls. And average highway mpg of 21-22.
Guys amazing video you have a new subscriber. Info and humor is top tier. Def some good ol boys I could hang with. Keep the vids coming!
Thanks for the kind words, our best comment all year! Thanks for watching.
Great video
As far as screens are concerned, I really prefer the landscape, smaller (still very big) Ford screen with additional buttons. The Toyota wins between these two. (For screens)
Everyone complains about the rear of the sequoia but the tahoe/yukon/suburban/escalade had a solid axle for generations until they switched to an independent rear suspension in 2021. They were the last to do, and yet people still bought them. At least the shelf of the sequoia can be used to make the load surface flad with the seats folded down.
I love the Sequoia cargo room, perfect! I’m not a road hoarder, I don’t need a huge garbage bin to carry half of the garage junk.
Sequoia tow mirror is amazing. Wagoneer, expedition, and Tahoe/suburban don't have them. Many 9000+ trailers/campers really need them. Great job Toyota
My friend has a 23 Expedition. I hate to say it but it is a lemon. It had to have a replacement engine at 9,000 miles. He wants to trade to a Sequoia TRD Pro but says he'll be upside down and the TRD Pro's he found all have markups. I understand that you get what you pay for but you have to be crazy to pay a markup in these shaky times.
The Toyota turbo engine is having some major issues with it as well. At this point, it’d probably best wise to wait a few years.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 its in the 3rd year already. its the same engine as the 22 Tundra
Yep, Had explorer and an expedition. Explorer transmission issues after 30k kms, Engine replacement too for the expedition at slightly over 40k kms. Got that repaired/replaced and got rid of it. What a fucking headache.
Man, what jacket you are wearing? I want one
Those pieces are crazy. 😂
Chevy Tahoe enters the chat…
Sequoia of course, Storage problem is a problem to some but overblown to most. Its better looking and a better quality car. Also miles ahead in reliability. I've given Ford two chances, I'll never touch that shit again.
Ford needs a full overhaul of Expedition. GM is eating them alive with Tahoes and Yukons.
GM has always dominated this market segment. But they're losing customers due to severe quality issues. Myself included. I had a 2017 fully loaded Yukon Denali. I had it in the shop 6 times in as many months, with multiple issues. It broke my heart as I was a GM guy my whole life. I ended up trading it in on a 2017 Ford F-150 Platinum. I never had an issue with it. I traded that in with 90,000 miles on it on a new Stealth Expedition. I've had it about a year and love it! I did drive a new Tahoe with the 6.2, but liked the Ford better. (although I like the front end design of the Tahoe much better.
I actually think I like the Ford a little bit better, but let's be honest, Ford is not known for their quality, so for long-term ownership I'll take the Yota despite its faults. I think the giant screens are ridiculous, I think GM has figured out how to nicely integrate a screen, the other manufacturers should take notice. I also just can't get past the pricing, who has the money for expensive vehicles like this???
I don’t know about Expeditions, but my last two F150’s have been virtually flawless (with routine maintenance.) A 2013 that I put 160k on and my current 2020 with almost 100k.
Many of us use the Section 179 business write off on our taxes. It makes these vehicles much more attractive.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770ah, another one of those tax loopholes for the wealthy that shouldn't exist. I'm sure all the bros I see in Raptors and TRXs with Electrical company magnetic logos on the side are DEFINITELY using those for work purposes.
$80;000 and try and keep up with everyday items after inflation…..nope
If you’re choosing between the Ford or the Toyota, I feel you’re absolutely crazy not to go with Toyota. They are known to be the most reliable vehicle on earth. Also, the warranty and service is better at Toyota and my experience.
Ford expedition is one of the most reliable vehicles out there so normally I'd agree but the expedition has that reliability too
What’s the point of a digital instrument gauge cluster in Sequoia that is not configurable? 🤷♂️🤦♂️
First, I win!
Winner winner!
Who designed the back of that Sequoia? They should be fired for that luggage space. It fails at being a three row SUV with luggage space.
The tahoe was the same way for generations until they switched to an independent rear suspension in 2021, which they were the last to do, and yet people still bought them. At least the shelf of the sequoia can be used to make the load surface flad with the seats folded down. People complain so much but forget that the tahoe/suburban/yukon/escalade all had a solid axle and no flat folding 3rd row until 2021, and they still sold.
The Sequoia is not made for hoarding families, who haul junk everywhere they don’t even use. The Sequoia is intended for people who are organized and know what they need to haul. That’s more than enough room back there for any outdoor activities or trips unless you wanna drag half of your garage junk on the road in your pussy asphalt Tahoe or clunky Yukon.
ILL take the ford exped anyday. the sequoia looks cool but its not user friendly like the 4runner. maybe not the timberline bc of how its spec'ed. some of it is ok but it would be nice if i could change a few things like the huge screen, no sunroof, rear bench instead of capt chairs, no third row, retractable side steps. these features would be more ideal for an offroad build and i could prob do it for cheaper starting with an 2 row sxt.
The sequoia along with tundras have a shudder / vibration problem that Toyota is aware of. Their customers keep asking for a fix but they keep telling them that their vehicle is operating as intended. Toyota reliability and customer service is now crap.
Toyota any day over that Ford POS
Ill take the Ford Expedition. Toyota quality is crap just like gmc, ram, chevy
Toyota, this is our "off road" version, also Toyota, look we didn't or recovery hooks on it. Toyota, a joke as usual
Toyota vs ford is a joke.. Toyota all day!
The two most useless trims considering the vehicle dimensions.
