I got my Expy Limited for $69k brand new last year out here so that's always a bonus compared to Canadian prices lol
The Ford Expedition got the plus 'cause it has got a forced induction device, i.e a turbocharger. It compresses incoming air and supplies it to the engine whereas the Denali (NA V8) solely relies on the atmospheric pressure...

@@michaelbefumo-qg7ji they're taking its sweet time, though. That 6.2 has been pretty much unchanged for the last 15 years (except for the AFM which sucks). Same HP and torque for all these years
Although I'm partial more towards Ford, the Expedition has already become long in the tooth with its generic looking styling and design. I'm not a fan of the vertical screen, definitely prefer a horizontal one. The GMC looks far more modern and better looking inside. So maybe the Ford is quicker but I'll take the V8 over a twin 6 all day especially when they are unfortunately starting to near extinction. Hope they continue to offer what I think every suv should have, the liftgate window opening. A power down option like Toyota has in the 4runner would be a great addition to one of these larger vehicles. Another great review as always Truck King 👑 ✌🏽 🇺🇲 ❤️
My wife and I were just in the market for a new body on frame suv. We have absolutely zero bias or brand loyalty. We went with the expedition but bought the limited over the platinum because we liked the 12 inch screen with the physical buttons below over the one in the platinum. We found the layout much better. We really liked the non ultimate Yukon Denali as well but we found the interior on the Ford to have a fresher design. Dont get me wrong I love the ls 6.2 but again it’s getting out dated the smoothness and power of the ford was light years ahead.
@3:26 when you started talking about “Vader Chrome” I desperately wanted to see Darth Vader come out flashing gang signs in front of the grille while yelling “DARK SIDE! REPRESENT, YO!!!”
I too am 6'2" and over 300lbs. Currently torn between a Ford Explorer and GMC Acadia (new design), so I really appreciate your reviews since I'm mindful of those factors. Appreciation and greetings from Tennessee!
I find a lot of people are leaning towards the Ford. The only problem I am looking at is long. Term maintenance, the Ford engine is going to break down hard and you're going to need to replace 2 turbos, whereas the gigantic V8 is just going to hold up to all of the punishment. The engine never has to work that hard to move, whereas the v six is always high strung
100%, the GMC looks much nicer, but I personally can't get over how uncomfortable the seats are and how stiff all the materials feel. It's definitely design over function. The looks nice until you put them side by side with the GMC.
Re Willys vs thick ice, in the video the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Willys it showed it had 33 inch KO2 tires. What are the tire measurements? In January' of this year I bought a 2023 Jeep Willys.. It came with IT255-75R17 mud terrains. I like the stance of the yellow jeep in your video. I am looking forward getting KO2s, providing there is no issues with those tires. Many thanks.
Im really tired of the ancient 6.2 liter V8 overly used across general motors brands. You would think that there would be an updated tune for the gmc and the Cadillac Escalade. At least 500 hp 610 lbs-ft for the luxury brands. Nope , same performance as the Silverado and Tahoe. Humbug.
34k miles on mine so far in our Denali XL, only have very minor complaints. The major one is one I've heard many complain of, the idle surge on the 6.2 can be scary, almost like a misfire or lack of fuel pressure. GM says its normal, and of course test drive any 6.2 and it does it. I own a 2005 6.0 Powerstroke well maintained 100k miles, a 2015 6.7 powerstroke Platinum, a 2021 Ford Ranger is what I traded in for the Denali, specifically Lariat Tremor, ended up eating coolant and having one of the first 2.3 ecoboost head gasket issues in the nation. One hell of a drivetrain platform though, the ranger was TONS of fun.
@@kevindargieThey’ve been having catastrophic rod bearing failures, some within a few hundred miles after purchase. My 2022 had its engine replaced under warranty after 30k miles due to the exact thing. There are tons of threads regarding this in the Tahoe Yukon forum.
I do miss the V8 rumble though. I do not enjoy the noise from an Ecoboost engine... but I do love the power it makes, & the greater towing capacity is why I bought an Expedition
Ok well that makes more sense I just like to see vehicles that are equal in terms of models and trem lines the pirice should not matter because at most price points people are going to buy what they want
If volume and full size adult seating in third row is important, by far the Yukon XL is WAY WAY better. Our Denali XL can have 3 6'2" foot adults in the third row, another 2 6-6'2" adults in the second row, and i'm 6 foot in the drivers seat. Plus the independent rear entertainment system, each kid can have a different thing on if needed. (ours is usually one is game and one is shows/tv). The passengers in 2nd row can also NAVIGATE from the screen and set destinations (important for those who do luxury ride-share or cheuffer)
Wrong trim level on the Ford so right away there will be a biased view. Secondly the power on the Ford with the upper trim is more and it would have been a better comparison. GMC for the looks all the way around but I actually preferred the interior on the Ford. Having owned multiple of both GMC's and Ford's the seats and comfort have always been more enjoyable on the Ford's especially long hauls. Lastly not a fair comparison but 25k more is ridicules. All these vehicles have gotten way too expensive. Great review guys. Keep them coming.
i doubt these guys get to pick and choose which trim levels they get to review. its probably a lot of effort to schedule two comparative vehicles as it is...picking and choosing which trim levels and options is most likely not always something they are entitled to do. i dont think it has anything to do with being biased. even with a higher trim level, the ford still looks like a 2010 explorer, as you well know
Here we go again, two great American SUV. Now I'm a fan of Ford's but ain't bias, but the GMC is amazing. It's hard to pick one over the other. My final thoughts. Say if I had an hour to find an expedition which I love, and come across that GMC, I'll take it. Hey, I'm not bias against that expedition, as they are both great SUVs.
They only talk about cosmetic details but nobody talks about how bad the Chevy transmission is. Could it be that Ford has the same problem as Chevy transmissions?
Interesting how multiple owners of both say the polar opposite. Just read a guy who has the platinum 2022 Expedition and 2022 Yukon Denali and said the Expedition had the superior comfort and quality as well as driving experience. I’ve driven both personally and don’t think either stand out past the other much.

Pro back up assist comment... So towing is a lot of responsibility.. It requires lots of extra attention, and a pretty good grasp on basic physics.. But, backing up is the one time that a person's inability to tow is on full display.. If they can't back a trailer, they probably can't think ahead to make wide turns, and other things u must do when trailering. And they basically just get lucky alot when driving forward.. So if u can't back up by hand, u should not be towing on public highways.
As nice as these are........ there are NO NEW CARS worth the currently overblown pricing. They shot up during COVID and the chip shortages but never dropped back down. I'll stick with my 3-4 y/o lightly used SUVs that have already taken the brunt of the depreciation hit under someone else's ownership. That being said.... Amazing review! Keep up the great content!
With the weight of the 3 men test drive in the GMC is Close 2 700 pounds, 5000 pound trailer. You add 10 to 15%. Of the weight of the trailer. So six hundred Pounds In tongue weight. And you're about maxed out. And you still got room for 4 more passengers and you haven't put any cargo in.and they want $125,000 crazy
The platinum or the Limited would be a better comparison. The Lincoln Navigator is in a league of its own. The head space is good in both vehicles. Same for leg space. Btw Ford has had the massaging seats since forever. Try getting the version with the madsaging seats. Great review, but comparing a higher trim level to a lower trim level does nothing.
I don’t know why you make a big deal about leg and head room in the 2nd and 3rd row, 98% it’s going to be kids and teens seating in the seats not a 6’2” 300lbs man.
@31:41, I get the Denali Ultimate is the top-of-the-line vs the lower trim level King Ranch, but the extra features you are talking about in this comparison are also on a similarly equipped SLT that is less than the KR :-) In the Ultimate you are mostly paying for material differences, leather, suede , "vader Chrome", etc...
Update: I just went to GMC to build one, correction, you can't get a 6.2 in a SLT. You can get it with a 3.0 Diesel though, but I did build a regular denali with all these "extra features" you talk about and it came out to $87K US, so less than the King ranch! That was also upgrading to the 22" wheels and Max trailering package 🙂
It's crazy to see the markup they have on what mostly amounts to material change in these vehicles. If the Expidition is your bag, get an xlt with leather and be on your way for less than a base SLE yukon. More power, more features and cheaper. You gotta spend more in the GMC to get comparable features at every trim level according to the website.about 5K more. I do like the look of the GM exterior though
So to get the Air ride it would bump the price to $92K, so a little more. But, with that being said, you don't need to spend almost $25k more to get those features :-)
I'm not a fan of these "packages" these companies try and sell you, it should be ala carte' ! If you ever see how these vehicles are assembles it would be super easy to do so, every part is tracked with a bar code and could be installed with no issues! 3 rows of seats with 8k of towing but only 1350lbs payload. That doesnt add up. You could be over that payload with 6 portly passengers. Then add a 7000lb trailer with 700lbs tongue weight.
With most vehicles you'll max out your payload capacity long before you hit the trailer towing capacity because part of your payload capacity gets eaten up by trailer tongue weight. The 5k trailer would have around 500 pounds of tongue weight....1350 pounds of payload capacity is now 850 pounds....yep seems about right....also keep in mind these 2 bloated SUV's are also the luxury trim levels, which severely cuts your payload capacity right off the bat....if you wanna tow, buy a base model with the max tow package with any vehicle...with a truck you'd want the heavy payload package too, as well as a higher numerical ratio for your final drive, which gives you max tow capability, worse fuel economy, but if you wanna tow heavy you want to set the vehicle up properly.. Most of these fancy SUV's will never tow anything, they'll be found sitting at Walmart....so many people don't care what the towing capacity is LOL.
Get rid of that sunroof crap, and you'll gain a couple inches of headroom. Way too many vehicles with sunroofs as almost a standard now...get rid of it, one less place for leaks in the future too.
GMC is better looking inside and out but not a fair comparison since the Yukon is sort of a “tweener” between the Tahoe and Escalade. This Yukon would lose the same comparison to the Navigator. Don’t the Expedition’s middle row seats manually recline which can solve the head room issue?

@@coachbeam3600no its not a base expedition start at 55k and can be cheaper depends on where you live.
got the hitch from mr.truck or do they sell them in canada
You put expedition on the title when you were mentioning the GMC stats😮
Eco beast is king of the half ton trucks and SUV’s and it’s not close. I would really like the 6.2 if it wasn’t direct injection only.
I think they're going to end up going to sequential fuel injection and direct injection together so you don't get the carbon on the valves😅
@@michaelbefumo-qg7ji they're taking its sweet time, though. That 6.2 has been pretty much unchanged for the last 15 years (except for the AFM which sucks). Same HP and torque for all these years
Now do it right. Compare it with the navigator. Better comparison
Excellent episode as always!!! 😁
No headrest on the middle seats (2nd and 3rd row) is a deal killer though. Why haven’t they put those on yet?
You cant compare the gmc to the ford. It should of been the gmc vs lincoln
The GMC appears to have a much nicer interior and more purposeful exterior. I usually like Ford products, but if it was my money, I would buy the GMC.
But do you think everything inbetween the good look inside and out is worth it
100%, the GMC looks much nicer, but I personally can't get over how uncomfortable the seats are and how stiff all the materials feel. It's definitely design over function. The looks nice until you put them side by side with the GMC.
Excelente comparativo saludos desde Córdoba Argentina
Javier Milei!!! My BOY!!!
The only reason GM has more leg room and head room is the seats aren't as thick long term the seats in the FORD will be better 👍
I was thinking before I finished watching. I would’ve put PPF beforehand. Looks like you did that now.
Humbug.
Let’s see if that 6.2 makes it to the first oil change
Ford all day everyday
I do miss the V8 rumble though. I do not enjoy the noise from an Ecoboost engine... but I do love the power it makes, & the greater towing capacity is why I bought an Expedition
The Expedition is due for an overhaul.
Looking from a video doesn't do it justice.
2025 model year will be all-new
To do actual comparison to that Gmc you would need the Ford platinum expedition Max.
I don't know why you didn't put the Denali against the limited I think that would've been a more fair comparison
It always depends on what is available to us
Ok well that makes more sense I just like to see vehicles that are equal in terms of models and trem lines the pirice should not matter because at most price points people are going to buy what they want
GMC Yukon with 3.0 duramax is great for towing
Great review guys! If only Ford would match their prices with a better quality dashboard instead of the hard plastic all over it.
Love ❤️ yall work !!
They only talk about cosmetic details but nobody talks about how bad the Chevy transmission is. Could it be that Ford has the same problem as Chevy transmissions?
Gmc
Yukon looks like some kind of space spider 😂 not for me.
I have both of these currently. The Yukon is miles ahead of the Expedition in terms of ride quality and drivetrain smoothness.
@@flykix2117 Just don’t see how that’s possible. I’m not trying to hate on the Ford, but it’s lacking the suspension advancements that the GM twins have - magnetic ride control and air suspension.
@@AnontheGOAT well the platinum has CCD which acts similar. Which is a Continuous Control Dampening system. This is not in all other Expeditions and is about $6k value. I believe a Limited can be ordered with that package in an equipment group.
@@flykix2117 I know what CCD is. My 2020 Limited has it. It's not just exclusive to the Platty. CCD is not the same as Magneride in terms of design and function.
Yuppie busses! Got to park up front at my favorite themed restaurant and show off my new outfit from a catalog that I'll only wear once. I've heard that once upon a time, they used cranks to roll down windows, brought lunch to work with them, didn't even have a summer place at the lake, and worst of all, had to wipe their own butts. My oh my, I can't imagine.
That's not a fair comparison. He should have the Expedition Platinum against the GMC Ultimate.
That Expedition is in desperate need of a refresh!
24:29 It senses the snow and stopped you because of that.
I’ve owned 2 Yukons. I’d like to switch to jeep. Any comparison on the wagoneer L coming up ?
Junk
Stay away from those Wagoneers my friend
The Ford needs a better Front end
GMC Yukon is the best 💪🏻😎
You are sounding like a GM fan boy
Ford doesn’t even offer a v8…
Wow, over 30K difference? I love Chevy. I own both. My expedition gets great gas mileage. Compared to Chevy. My old chevys, still get the job done.
The stats chart says Ford Expedition for both.
You should time the 0-60mph so you can be less biased towards GM products
For me, I’d get the GMC. Just because I can get the Duramax.
I am waiting for the new 2025 Ford expedition
I bet the f-150 hybrid system will come and add even more power and mpg. Also the tech will be updated a bunch since the expedition is older.
Its 100% a money grab by these manufacturers @@garryknaggs9177
FYI regarding message seats, Ford’s Platinum trim comes with them too.
3 wives and a bunch of kids 😂
Gmc looks so much better
Totally agree
They should compare to a Lincoln not a ford
@@gian-lucbrasseur207The Lincoln should be compared to the Cadillac
@@samduran5180 That makes more sense.
Ford looks so much better
The top engine available in the GMC and the bottom level engine in the Ford.
Need to include the Toyota Sequoia and Jeep Wagoneer in this same test
The GMC would look a lot better if all its chrome got the "vader" treatment, not just the grille. The mismatch doesn't make sense.
8000lbs of towing is a joke for cost of these things can’t even tow a medium sized travel trailer with that number
@3:00 I want a 6.2 Ford Expedition 😍

If it wasn’t for ford helping GM design a 10 speed transmission they would still have 8 speed
And that 10 spd granny box is trash. Shuddering, loss of power, pump failures and torque converter failures.
You're paying a lot more for the Denali for the outside appearance vs the Expedition. Ford beats the GMC hands down in towing capabilities
GMC better but I wouldnt waste my money on the gmc that’s almost 30k more hell nah
3:03 Why the editor duplicate Ford Expedition instead of GMC Denali!
Park assist was detecting the hitch.
3 rows of seats with 8k of towing but only 1350lbs payload. That doesnt add up. You could be over that payload with 6 portly passengers. Then add a 7000lb trailer with 700lbs tongue weight.
The towing figure doesn’t mean it is able do that while loaded full of other people/cargo. In many cases it’s an either/or scenario.
What’s the king ranch logo supposed to be?
It's the brand used for cattle on King Ranch
Truck king… would I be better off getting Toyota gm or ford
GMC all day, every day! Lol
Get rid of that sunroof crap, and you'll gain a couple inches of headroom. Way too many vehicles with sunroofs as almost a standard now...get rid of it, one less place for leaks in the future too.
No
GMC is better looking inside and out but not a fair comparison since the Yukon is sort of a “tweener” between the Tahoe and Escalade. This Yukon would lose the same comparison to the Navigator. Don’t the Expedition’s middle row seats manually recline which can solve the head room issue?
NO WAY am I paying $25,000 dollars more for the GMC, just for a few more features !!
Have myself a 23 king ranch, best vehicle ever. Chebby is well just makes you think of creepy joe and from everyone i know they never keep their chebbies long cuz they start having electrical issues but they tell me they change every 2-3 years cuz they want a different color😂
Great video guys, I like the comparison videos. I prefer the Yukon Denali , but both are nice rigs for a family
Reliability has left the chat
Jeep Wagoneer FTW
should of compared the lincoln version i believe that would be the navigator better comparison.
I think the Navigator compares to the Cadillac Escalade.
