    I had the trees trimmed last week and one of the guys who was on the job was using this exact same saw. It was cutting so well and so quickly though wood I went out and asked him what saw it was. I'd never heard of this brand until last week. He told me that he had tried a number of saws on the job and this one was the best he's ever used. He said the sheath broke a couple of times but the way he was monkey climbing trees and using his gear I can see why. The sheath was plastic and probably not built for the hard use he was putting on it. Seeing him rip up my trees was the best endorsement for me and I am sold on it.

    I got the Samurai folding 9.5" blade , the Corona did ok but they are rust prone. See the you tube video by Project Farm test of many folding saw pruning blades. Silky came in middle of the road.

    Wranglestars got some great videos. You should especially check out the one where he grounds his bed. It’s a little different than all the others, but it’s the one all the kids are talking about. And that may be why you should never forget your hardhat when you’re out doing your forestry stuff. Seriously hope he’s OK. Love your videos too, Real world testing, clear and concise, and you never waste half the video showing me packaging and doodads that came with the product.Absolutely love the handle geometry of the saw. Thanks for another great review.

    It would be helpful to know what the replacement blade costs would be. I think the Boreal uses a standard bow saw blade that will be pretty cheap to replace.

    • @bushcraftone7240
      @bushcraftone7240 ปีที่แล้ว

      the ongoing costs to replace blades that they make not to be sharpened are counter productive for me, as i feel a rip off by the manufacturers
      now if they made their saw blades that can be sharpened, then i feel they justify the cost of purchase
      replacement bladess should only be for breakage or for fine thru course teeth for variety of purposes

  • @EarlyMist
    @EarlyMist 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I have the Silky Zubat (and F180 + Katanaboy) but ordered the Samurai anyway. It is half the price of the Zubat and I think the teeth are a bit less angled so it should fare better with accidental hard push cuts. I have broken two Silky blades (F180 and Super Accel) push cutting on the forward stroke, they are pretty unforgiving and Silkys warranty DOES NOT allow for replacements upon snappage. It is deemed 100% user error if you break a Silky blade. Check their warranty fine print!

    You compared folding to fixed? They aren’t even the same length! And you compared a totally different saw to the ichiban! The fixed silky saws are still better then that one though

  • @dannyschreckengost1973

    So, Aaron, I have a question. Would you go with the yellow F180 which has finer teeth or the red one you shown in the video which has larger teeth, I live closer to the east coast compared to you living in the Rockies, which one should I go with for camping trips?? We can run into hard woods and soft woods over here. More soft woods like pine. What's your thoughts?

    • @ethanellis4582

      No way is it less effort. The Corona is a good saw as well but the Bahco has smaller teeth so, it might not cut quite as fast but it's easier to do so. Plus it looks awesome aesthetically and is practically indestructible. Not so much for the Corona.

    Never heard of a Japanese saw that cuts on the push. Those look like standard Japanese teeth, designed for the pull cut.

    I could buy 4-5 of those for the cost of PIMPING Canadian Preppers Silky Saw.

    Just no... The silky Zubat is monumentally superior because of the steel its made of, hardened teeth, corrosion resistance and full tang handle. Basically, silky saws are the best.

    You can tell when someone really likes a saw or anything and when someone is promoting or selling a saw or any item it becomes better then anything out there. a lot of saws are fast if you use both hands how many one handed saws are fast. This guy is a joke and people actually listen to him. its a commercial not a video wow

    Well you get what you pay for. Silky vs. this the non folding silky is full tang. You're not comparing against the silky not folding. This isn't. Wanna risk your life on a piece of plastic breaking?

    Love my Ichabon... but if you don't treat it with lots of respect it will put you in the Emergency room for stitches. I just accidentally lightly tapped the side of my wrist with this puppy and it punctured an artery!
