Usually I'd agree with that sentiment, but considering that this is a system that Toyota has been using in their RAV4 for several years I'd assume its okay.
Not sure if anyone cares too much, BUT for some reason Mazda did NOT fit the cx50 with front or rear parking sensors or a 360 camera on the Hybrid variant specifically. Not sure why but just in case that wasn’t mentioned.
I feel like most drivers are fully alert and awake with good vision and full neck rotation capabilities, whats a 360 camera for? Seems like it’s just an extra cost.
It's to push people towards buying the turbo premium plus, which makes more money for Mazda. I'm sure Mazda loses some money by using a Toyota hybrid vs their own in house engine.

I'm looking forward to driving impressions. I went from a 2015 Mazda 3 to 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid. The main reason being that Mazda was ignoring smaller, more affordable hybrids and refusing to bring Skyactiv-X to North America. There were things I missed about the Mazda including the Bose sound, interior quality and soft touch materials, and especially the rotary control for the infotainment. That would lock out the touch screen during Android Auto so you could only use the rotary control, but I'm one of those few that hates touch screens in cars. They're so hard to use blindly or in motion. The rotary control is one of the things I miss the most next to not having a car payment. The mileage is fantastic on the 5th Gen hybrids. I'm surprised Mazda got that. I thought they were getting the 4th Gen system. I'll have to see what's out there when my lease is up in a few years. If Mazda puts Toyota's hybrid system from the Corolla Cross in a CX-30, that will be high on my list. I do have one question that was hard to tell from the video: When the back seats fold down, is there a cliff between them and the rear cargo area? Or does it fold mostly flat? Thanks.

Super hyped for this. And once they unveil their own hybrid system and put it in the Mazda3 and others, they will have quite the lineup.
Does this still have a torsion beam? Would it kill Mazda to use the multilink setup from CX5?
I’ve read the Forester Hybrid will be using the 5th gen system along with a new Boxer engine and still have their Symmetrical AWD ?
Whats the difference between Toyota's 4th and 5th generation hybrid systems?
mpg and hp ....efficiency 5th Gen in the new Camry is 232 hp in awd mpg is +2
nickel-metal hydride battery vs lithium-ion battery
Kirk.. Love your channel. Suggest you not use the extreme wide angle camera to show the exterior car views. Better to have a "normal" lens (50-70mm on a full frame camera) that does not distort the car dimensions on screen.
Nice. Toyozda should be built to last and fun to drive. Be nice to find out if it is quieter than RAV4.
Are the seats comfortable? I've heard they are not.
Why does the CX-50 hybrid have 7.8 inches of ground clearance compared to the CX-50 gas model with 8.6 inches?
The battery pack is in the floor. The hybrid is also about two inches taller and has thicker black plastic all around the hide the raised ride height.
Thank you.
@@FeLiX13sLaVeI think you’re thinking of the full electric CX-50 sold in China. The hybrid is not taller and does not have extra cladding. The battery is under the rear seat not in the floor.
@@YZJB no, I'm not thinking of the EV CX-30 sold in China. There isn't an EV CX-50 either. The hybrid CX-50 is about two inches taller than the non-hybrid variants. Check Mazda's website.
@@FeLiX13sLaVe apologies, I was thinking of the CX-30 EV sold in China.
The omission of parking sensors on top trim is crazy. Other than that looks like a solid car.
I just hope it doesn't have the high voltage cable corrosion problem like the rav4 😢
I would be curious to know much more about that E-AWD system - How does it work in slippery conditions of Snowy roads, etc. Not Trailbusting, but on the typical City / Suburban /highway streets & roads. It has a ter than the typical Toyota interiors. As a Retiree driving for the most part locally, this is worthy of a good look as my next car . By using the Tried and true Toyota Hybrid system, it exudes confidence as a New model for Mazda. Too Bad that Mazda has not elected to bring the CX-60 used in Europe to the US / Canada - that appears to be a Perfect Fit for me!! A 2 Row SUV serves Empty Nesters very well. FWIW, I'm on a lease extension for my 22 MDX Advance which I truly enjoy, except for the MPGs and their awful TTIP Touch Pad. A new 25 MDX is being priced way too high ! The new 25 RDX (which I test drove - very Sporty and handled extremely well) Keeps the TTIP !!! What is Acura Thinking??? They went with a their Touch Screen on the MDX but not on the RDX??
I might get this one😉
Thank you for review
I live in Canada and dealerships still didn't get the hybrid here.
I was waiting for hybrid and really wanted one, but Canadian prices just killing us.
I did my math and decided to go with none hybrid Mazda cx50 GT none turbo 2024 with discounts.
Monthly payments comparable to hybrid around $140 less
So this approximately what i would save on gas if I there using hybrid.
Ooh a felt lined license plate holder!
Corrolla hybrid still the best value on the market
BEST sub $40k SUV
it's above 40..43 with destination
@@mikej238 You are making a fool out of yourself, stop lying. The video cleary shows $41k INCLUDING destination for the HIGHEST trim, there are obviously less expensive trims.
I would love a test on the self lane centering comparison of Toyota vs this.
