Side note: everyone always talks about his vocals, and rightfully so, but can we take a minute to truly appreciate his skill in all of those instruments? The cello and violin parts are really quite technical (as I'm sure are the others, but I'm not as familiar with those instruments)

As a fellow Irishman this makes stupidly feckin happy! My dad, rest his soul, got me the Xbox at launch and Halo came with it and little did I know that this game would start my 20 years and counting journey with this beautiful universe. You did it justice bud!

That last note ( E1 in the backing vocals) a subharmonic note probably, can we just take a moment to appreciate it...... never actually heard him sing that low..... it is clear that he is getting even better. Absolutely amazing!!!
Glad someone else noticed it! I thought my ears were playing tricks lol. Yea, this was either subs or a growl, but he HAS actually hit that low once before that I can recall, using subs that he was still practicing with. Think it was on his tictok that he mentioned it :)

I actually played Halo in high school orchestra, so this reminded me a lot of that, then the drop with the extra instruments was fantastic and perfect

As this went, I kept thinking that with the cello, violin, and winds, what can really be done to make the Halo theme more Irish? And then the bodhran kicked in and the bouzouki joined and the vocals were taken over by the tin whistle, and it all made sense.
I just discovered Colm a few days ago. Playing all his tracks on repeat 24/7. Just outstanding music. And this is just...phenomenal.

I find it interesting that he didn't even have to make the song sound more Irish by adding more bits. The song just naturally sounds like that when he uses Irish instruments.
When ever I watch a cover that has ANYTHING to do with Halo, I turn it on, and close my eyes. If I get the chills, I know its a winner. Took about 35 seconds to start, and then 50 when the cello came in, we had a winner!
Unironically, the first song I attempted to play when I got my first tin whistle. And now it’s been upscaled into epicness

@@jonahcraven8669 I get that it doesn’t have many familiar tracks, mainly due to it being a new era in Halo and primarily taking place on a Shield World rather than a Halo ring, but the tracks still retain the mysterious and beautiful aspects that capture the wonder of it all as well as the epic aspects of Halo soundtracks like with 117 and Arrival.

I remember in the making of Halo 2 Anniversary video, the composer for the remade soundtrack Tom Salta mentioned that the Halo theme, specifically the big violin part, sounded like an Irish Jig. Super cool to hear this played with traditional instruments.
Damn, some of those bass notes are ridiculous. As a tenor myself, some of them sound almost an octave below my absolute-lowest F#. Beautiful arrangement.
