My only one so far was a 10.2 from up in Aquia, my first trip to the Potomac, that thing mangled my spinner bait and fought like nothing I had ever caught before, fun fish to catch !!!
If you like fishing for snakeheads with spinnerbaits, check out SS Custom Baits. They make lures specifically for snakeheads with heavier gauge wire and hooks.
ThomasHardenFishing sorry, just got home from my clubs tourney on the Potomac but yes, they are delicious, we had seen a couple over the weekend but didn’t catch any or I would have kept them 😂
swkelley thank you for the drop, I don’t fish the Potomac much at all, next year I will be there at least twice so it is something I may need to invest in, much appreciated !!!
Great fishin... do you know of any shore fishin spots that I can bring my teenage son at Potomac Creek? He wants to catch a snakehead bad, but we don't have a boat or kayak. Thanks
New to snakehead fishing and would really like to catch one this summer. I’m local to the area and was wondering which places you recommend to fish for them?
Snakeheads are an invasive species and are destroying the native fish. Maryland asks anglers to keep and kill snakeheads to help preserve the native species. Along with the blue and flathead catfish for it's illegal to release them back into the Potomac
1st off one of the best Potomac snakehead videos I’ve seen. 2nd looks like ima go pick me up a pack of salamanders…
Thanks! Tight lines out there!
What time of year do you have so much luck catching snakehead off of docks like that?
Man you was killin them out there. I have never been on the Potomac River to fish but I'm definitely going ASAP.
May is a good time of year to start catching them on the Potomac.
Just do all of us fisherman a favor and release them so they get bigger. Myself and friends do because they are so much fun to catch
Great video
Thanks!
Great vid TH
Thanks!

@@sonnygreen9698 you are most welcome! Check them out.
Amazing fishing!! I fish off a kayak and would love to get on so many fish! generally fish eastern MD.
I hear Blackwater in MD has a lot of snakeheads.
@@ThomasHardenFishing they sure do
@@billsmafiamatt6823 maybe I'll try there one day.
Man you guys was on a roll
These catches are not all the same day.
@@ThomasHardenFishing still nice catches

I don't know where you can find shoreline access to fish, but if you decide to book a trip visit my website.
Do you guys prefer Baitcasters or spinning reels for snakehead and what size rod and line?
I prefer baitcasters, but a lot of my clients don't use them, so I use spinning with them
@@ThomasHardenFishing how about the power of the rod ?
@@ianm6856 I use medium heavy on the spinning and heavy on my baitcaster

You can find them in any creek in the Potomac River, just throw a topwater all day until you find one.
Throw a top water?? I see that lizard tearing them up 😂😂
How long do you wait before you set the hook? Or is it as soon as you feel the bite. I just can’t seem to keep them pinned anytime I’m using t-rigs.
I wait for line to get tight. When they are finicky after the spawn, it can be hard to hook them.
@@ThomasHardenFishing thanks so much! I lost a couple in the past week and I wasn’t sure if I were to blame or my gear.
Which area is better, Quantico Creek, Occoquan River, Mattawoman or Dogue Creek?
Every year is different and it depends on what time of year. You can catch them in all those areas.
What kind of baits are you using for them? Im new to snakehead fishing and have only caught 1 on accident.
I have a lot of snakehead videos on my channel, check them out and you can see how we catch them on the Potomac River.
@@ThomasHardenFishing Thanks, ill take a look at them!
What fishing rod are you using
Which catch, I used multiple rods in the video
Which one best for snakeheads in Potomac
Nice
Thanks
Where in the Potomac are you?
All over the river, catches are from different days. I just put them into one video.
You fishing ikes tournament??
No. I would like to, but it is a schedule conflict with the VA Elite 70 tournament.
Do you guys release them or kill them? Its recommended you kill these things and eat them since they are invasive... not judging though...
Most client take them home for dinner, I do the same.
@@ThomasHardenFishing Good.
I couldn't kill anything that is so much fun to catch
@@mikefratz2938 My clients only kill to eat them.
Do you throw them back, they're supposed to be tasty.
No, they are real tasty.
People need to stop killing snakehead and release them back like my friends and I do. They are more fun than bass to catch for sure
Some people release them, some people eat them. Most my clients eat them.
