Washington DC Striped Bass (Rockfish) Fishing on Artificials

Thanks for watching! I recently had a couple hours to head down to the Potomac River, in the heart of Washington DC, in an attempt to target some striped bass while they're upstream. This is about as far upstream as they'll get before they begin their migration back out to the Atlantic and up the coast to the Northeast. While most of the striped bass fishing I do is in Massachusetts, it's fun being able to target these guys for the short time that they're here!

Catfish are literally in every body of water in this area.

Catfish are bottom feeders. Strange though you caught one on a running lure? They are predatory and eat other fish not dirt.
The Potomac is one of the top sport fisheries in the country. In Virginia it's only second to Smith Mountain Lake. $$$ Bass tournaments aren't uncommon.
If the Potomac River is so polluted why are you and others catching these really nice healthy fish?
There is not one river in the US that isn't polluted especially near urban cities. No raw sewage is pumped into the river. Tournaments are held on the river at Blue Plains Sewage treatment Plant and the action is very good.
PCB's are a carcinogen look it up, they are the primary pollutants in the river, from corporations.
Consumption limits are recommended it can be looked up for certain fish. The results large mouth bass have more of this pollutant than any other fish, even cats "there bottom feeders?" That's exactly where the PCB's settle to. The Potomac River has come a long way since President Nixon signed the Clean Water Act in 1974. Trump got rid of it though so we'll see if that has a negative effect.
I know it's cute and yuppie to malign the Potomac when your friends are watching but you put your hands in that nasty water why? Fact is Potomac River fishing is safe and good for recreational fun.

@@matteopantangelli9477 try to keep contact with your jig, pop it as soon as you feel it touch bottom. If it drags bottom it’s a guaranteed snag

Blue catfish are an invasive fish and should not be released, they are eating native fish and blue crabs that are already declining in numbers
