I feel like so many girls go through a "self improvement" phase in mid-later 20s because of (or at least partially because of) disappointing dating/relationship experiences, and I just have to put this here: you don't have to be perfect in order to have a reasonable and fulfilling relationship. Self improvement or whatever is best when the motivation is not tied up in how you come across to other people, but is actually truly for the self.

    • @sarahderksen4945
      @sarahderksen4945 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah I also think it's a natural response to make ourselves feel better because break-ups and dating can obv make you insecure

The amount of obsessing and lists I made.. Organising every single thing I own, endless things I could change about my looks, my health, 100s of cool hobbys.. Ways to act, of course perfectly morally right and somehow more attractive and cool 🙄 Makes me want to be single and celibate so I can focus more on those things because they take time and effort- but why strive for perfection when in the end thats not the only way to be happy and being with another human being that I love does make me happy and feels more real than trying to conform to some clean girl aesthetic superwoman 😅

Her video aesthetic is second to none. I have asked her directly in another comment here how she does it so beautifully, and so I really hope she replies. In any case, can you offer any advice on how she produces this aesthetic in her videos, e.g. the camera, colour grading (I'm an amateur, so I called this tint), lens, etc?

Hopefully, she is friends with a local who is deeply aware of everything in India. Like, someone who knows the country inside out. Someone who knows where to go, how to go. Going there solo without a plan or a trusted guide/friend is not advisable. Saying this as an Indian, respectfully. Like, it's not a bad country, per se. The metro cities are nice like Bangalore, New Delhi and Mumbai but still, solo travel is not recommended.

    Hi Leah,
I recently learned that Organic Basics has been owned by Delta Galil since 2022. Delta Galil, an Israeli textiles company, operates branches in settlements in the occupied West Bank. I found out about this through Zoe Suen, a fashion journalist who has been vocal about the Israeli occupation.
I sincerely hope you'll reconsider your choices when it comes to sponsorships. It's disappointing to see a brand focused on sustainability being associated with a company that supports a nation involved in significant harm to both people and the environment (especially with the ongoing bombings of civilians🤬🤯)

I hope you enjoy your adventure when you go and see the best of what India has to offer! :) And have a great trip to Switzerland!❤

    loved the lil update!
it's always lovely to see you embrace life as the adventure it is! i've been having fun building queer platonic relationships and expanding beyond what society teaches us! viewing life and the people in it as one giant collaboration + building process has been so exciting as someone who was feeling confined with the notion of a nuclear family and your partner being the sole person you're meant to collaborate and build with!
i love how you're keeping that adventurous spirit alive but still looking for a home base (samesies!) i know some people who don't settle and just travel which is perfectly fine but i feel you on wanting some stability! i guess it's all about embracing the season knowing that it might change years down the line and you'll start again hehe

Thank you for the very nice and creative video! I've been following your channel for a long time and I think you are really good at making viewers feel the connections with you.
I have a six years younger brother and I always wonder his perspective of what it's like having a six years older sister. I've wanted to have an older sibling for that reason but since you're six years older than me watching you and listening to your life stories gives me the idea of what it's like having an older sister. Watching your video feels like catching up with an older sister (I respect) coming back home after a while and listening to all her cool stories. 😄 I don't know if this is what my brother is experiencing but at least you're amazing to make a viewer feel that way! And don't worry about not having been able to stay in China.
I'm sorry things didn't work out immediately between you and your dad. Long lost family reconnection is already challenging as is (I had the same story when living at my dad's place for my first 2 years in Taiwan, after a very complicated relationship full of resentment/fear/anger with him ever since my childhood, but as both adults, we could somehow reconnect a bit more maturely in his last few years), but doing so in China, which, in and of itself, already has a very unique pile of challenges, both socio-economically and politically, to adapt to for someone who has grown up in the West on top of it all, c'est une autre paire de manche, comme on dit en Français... And it's definitely not for the faint of the heart !
So no shame if you felt overwhelmed and are now trying to do so little by little, as much as you can take it at once.
As for actually finding a home base, I realized the longer I live in 2 different places (at least), the harder it is to truly take roots anywhere. When you're in one place, you always think of the other, how boring is the one you're at, and what it's missing compared to the other one ..and of course, it works the other way around !
So I'm guessing for a globe trotter like you, it must feel that, but times 10 ! Always keeping in mind all the places you've been through, living in your own little multiverse.
Careful of not staying on the road for too long, coz the older you get, the harder it is to take roots.
Good luck finding any place you can call home later. For me, the answer I found after years of questioning myself "where is home ?" Is the simplest one : Where my feet are.
But of course, I guess it will also massively depend on if you actually find a lifelong partner to live with and build a family with. Then, travelling will become downright impossible for at least 5-6 years, so yeah, better choose carefully.
Good thing you're now opening yourself to find someone serious.
And yes, I also find it's absolutely better to try and meet people in real life through friends rather than online. I've seen the nascence of online dating about 20 years ago, and all these years, the concept itself never attracted me. I've only seen all its already bad aspects getting more and more degenerate throughout the years. All these swipes left & right, only toying with pixels portraits at the fingertips, without even glancing at their profile bios, no longer humans in the flesh, but just piles of jpegs... There's nothing humane in the process, and it sends a very dangerous signal to the brain that "yeah, I've got infinite choice, so like a videogame, I can browse ad vitam eternam for a few years before finding THE one with the biggest score !"
Well, nope. Life is not a videogame, and it doesn't work like that.
I've heard studies saying that gen Z has so grown up their whole lives talking to people through social media and their phones, that the art of actually go to talk irl to an actual potential dating partner seems to be a completely lost art for the entire generation... And I find that truly sad.
I mean, I was not necessarily the best at it myself, but at least, during my time, it was still very much how everyone operated, and when it was smooth, there was some serious tingling happening in the spine and in the atmosphere. And it was glorious when it happened.
(I personally had the most success in getting girls contacts in bookstores instead of bars and clubs... Go figure).
So, it's good to hear you want to keep the looking for romance in the real world. I expected nothing less from the wholesome romantic you are ^^.
Anyway, I've been ranting for long enough, sorry for your eyes. It's just that it's been a minute since last time I could chat with you, and I'm just blurting out months (if not decades) of thoughts and experience.
Take good care of you, wherever on the planet you end up at, be it India, New York, China, Japan, France, or why the heck not Taiwan once again (I'm still gleefully looking forward to see one day your Taiwan chronicles, even though I'm not necessarily expecting it, it's already an old story, at this point, and life moves forward for everyone).
Tous mes voeux de bonheur pour toi, belle demoiselle !

U must visit the state of Rajasthan (land of kings) . And winters are best to travel in this part of India. Here the forts , the sand dunes (jeep safari is a must), the food , music and culture , the stories and the legends and so much more.

Please please if you visit India, visit the north east part, you will not regret it. It's like a different country compared to other parts of India, and also way way way safer for women. You will love the nature, the people, the hospitality, the culture. I swear it's a whole different vibes there.
