Leon being the strongest is debatable to me. He was introduced in gen 8, Synthia was introduced in gen 4. Is it really true?

He probably ran out of every other pokeball he had, since he does own Ultra Balls, given his pokemon are housed in them. And may not have had a Masterball since the only way canonically you can get one is through the lottery

Put Leon up against Red or Cynthia. I doubt he would remain undefeated for long. I'm guessing all the trainers in the Galar region just suck.
I mean in Pokemon Journey's there was world tournament with other Champions and its implied that Cynthia did participate but wasn't in the finals it was Leon vs Lance and Leon still won even with type disadvantage with Charizard vs Gyarados.
Leon also has lots of challenge in his region since in Galar, pokemon battling is alot more mainstream and that Raihan the second strongest, in his league card says that should he choose to move to a different region he could easily become champion in that region but chooses to stay in Galar to face Leon
@@Rageouz true, but thats anime, different storyline completely, different main pokemon, different intellect etc., and anime cynthia is weak compared to the games, after all the game cynthia can sweep caitlin whereas anime version struggled a bit

iris is like the actual embodiment of the “protagonist” in the series, like yes we get red and stuff but the time line of being a gym leader at 10 and champion by 12 is literally the game play storyline LMAO love her
In Gameplay her Team is sadly a bit weak.
Its fine if you use Hardmode, but what realy hurts is her Ai. Haxorus starts out whit Dragondance, you attack, it survives whit Sash, but instead of her sweeping you, she just wastes her Item by healing it. One of her strongest Pokemon and she just lets it die whitout accomplishing anything.

Red is the greatest Pokémon trainer of all time. If he hadn’t gone crazy and become a hermit he would have discovered even more powerful Pokémon and become unbeatable. He accomplished more as a 10 year old than any other trainer can boast

Red hasn't been canonically defeated either, not even by Gold, as their battle was a mystery.
He has been beaten by blue a lot of times actually
regi rebel but not as a champion though.
I had to beat him at some point in the battle tree for stamps, mega stones and ribbons.

The number 1 could’ve technically been the player in Sun/Moon since as the player, you’d be the only champion to have legendaries/level 100s on your team
But it has to be canon, and that's the player, so their team could be anything so it doesn't count

15:55 Leon isn’t known for having never lost in his ENTIRE LIFE, he’s only known for having never lost an official match. I don’t think Red canonically ever lost to a Gym Leader or E4 member, which I’d consider official matches. On top of that, Leon loses to the trainer he endorsed, being the SWSH protagonist, which I think is pretty embarrassing.
He lost to the hhss protag, and he lost to the protag in bw
Leon has straight up never lost a match until the player came, and he even became champ when he was 10 years old
Also Leon has Def lost matches before as of course he dosent have a flawless record although it's never stated he's ever lost, but as champion he never lost

I did not realize that all of Cynthia's Pokémon in Platinum had perfect IV's. Now I release why I struggled to beat her on top of her super well balanced and powerful Pokémon.
Lance's best asset isn't actually his Pokémon. It's his incredible Smooth talking abilities that allowed this humble Bird Keeper to be recognized as a master Dragon Tamer.
How he pulled that for so long is still a mystery to this day. But considering both him and Leon have a CHarizard, we may be onto something.
So, I guess the lesson here is never trust anyone who chosed Charmander as their starter. They can't be trusted.
Actually, the charmander was given by Red to Lance, and he accpeted it and tried to be nice to him.

14:45 the moves on cynthia's team cover 15/18 of the types, and her pokemon cover 11/18 types.
Cynthia having all her pokemon with perfect Iv's was something I didn't know. That explains soooooo much why she so uncomfortably powerful. I just recently went back and played platinum built my team specifically around her team and she still body me 4 times before I beat her. Mine you I been playing since 1st gen and quite knowledgeable on weaknesses and strengths.

With Leon since he is ‘undefeated’ you have to see who he has battled because the other trainers in Galar are meh at best. Where as everyone else but Alder and the Kalos champion have had to face off against actually strong characters, not to mention defeating Leon was a breeze. So Cynthia should definitely still be number 1

Totally. Leon was 100% overplayed; everyone sucks his ego so much thorought the game and it ends up being a dog that barks a lot and never bites. I love how Dobbs mentioned that XY were ranked lower because of the Exp Share and how Wallace and Alder suck more than him when Alder has a solid team and Wallace, while having a monotype, is on a generation where earning exp is hard. With evading most wild battles and most trainer battles, I got to him underleveled by 5-6 levels and still completely floored him.
Leon is definetely strong, but definetely not number 1 and not even top 5. I know his list is not objective, but if we would go objectively, considering everything AND their strongest appearance:

7. Alder
6. Lance
5. Red
4. Steven
3. Blue
2. Iris
1. Cynthia
I know ranking Cynthia first is always an overstatement for most, but she's just that strong. Garchomp was way too busted and her team was made with the best of the best, specially on Platinum. Leon is mildly inconvenient to fight, AT BEST.
@@kutami2951 I feel like Leon is harder than you're giving him credit for. Sure, he's in an easy game and isn't nearly as tough ad other champions, but I wouldn't put him 8th. He's got a somewhat evenly spread team (despite his multiple Dragon Types) and his Pokemon are kind of strong. Aegislash, Haxorus, Intelleon/Cinderace (this doesn't apply to Rillaboom), etc.
@@spookyspukii if you chose Rillaboom or Inteleon, half of his team is beaten by water, if you choose Cinderace, half his team is beaten by rock types. Even without the interchangeable weak-to-starter Pokemon and the starters, his team is still easily bodied with a fast ghost/dark or ice type.
He is almost as weak as mono-type champions, by virtue of having a lot of Pokemon that share common weaknesses. Also, anyone who has a Pokemon as weak as Charizard as their titular Pokemon doesn't deserve respect.

I'm surprised that Red and Cynthia weren't at the top, with how much trouble they both gave me when I was a kid. It took me almost half a year to beat Cynthia on my first playthrough of Pearl back in 2008, and Red was almost like a brick wall to me in Soulsilver for a long time when I was a kid as well.

Red will always been my favorite champion. I seriously believe that Red would beat Champion Cynthia. Because if they did do a battle between those 2 you know they'll just have Red win anyways because he's the Original Champion. Another thing too is someone brought up a good point about Red winning against Cynthia is the fact that Red pokemon are like from lvls 72 to almost lvl 90. Cynthia Garchomp would get pummeled by either Lapras or Blastoise because 1 im pretty sure Lapras can use Ice Beam and 2 Blastoise i think also has a Ice Move possibly either blizzard or Ice punch and there's a possibility that Garchomp can get frozen in its tracks by those 2.

@@MrcreeperDXD777 that's true, but when it comes to Red, he's one of the only Champions associated with a Legendary, that being Mewtwo(+ Legendary Birds & Mew to some extent) and to have actually caught it. The only other Champion to do so being Ethan with Suicine. Now Cynthia is associated with Palkia, Dialga, Giratina and Arceus but I don't think she's caught any of them. So I(keyword- I) ALWAYS consider Red's Mewtwo in his team. Ty for reading.

I agree with the list but I Personally would have put red over Cynthia since we have no clue if he’s ever been defeated before, unless we consider the origins anime canon, where he had lost to blue and Giovanni but no only that if we do take in anime consideration leon just whooped lances cheeks in the second to latest episode of the Pokémon anime.

Cynthia is still the best champ imo. The top 3 are really inter - changeable. It basically depends on how you look at it tbh

But there's a difference between a little difficulty like a 5/10, and then a "OhMyGod my Comatose father just beat Pokemon!" -47/10 that has been the last few games. Where you can beat anyone with absolute ease without ever having to do.. Anything. Doing the bare ass minimum in UsUm got me to level 60+ by the time I got to the Elite 4.. And I swept them with my starter.
@@Ropalme1914 Ultra Necrozma wasn't hard, it was just a weird insanely high spike. I don't think most people were expecting something with already high stats to get a +2 boost to everything.. That wasn't difficulty, that was just annoying. Difficulty is strategy, statuses, fancy moves.. Not just giving something +2 to all and then letting it blast through everything.
@@Ropalme1914 If you did the bare minimum through the game and didn't seek out extra battles or grind in the tall grass, you'd be lucky to meet the Elite 4 at level. If you do the bare minimum in any of the new games, you'll likely be 10 above. Definitely not a spike. At least nowhere near compared to that joke of a battle with Necrozma.
Just remember, if a trainer is undefeated, it could simply be because they haven't fought a tough enough opponent yet. That's why I think that Leon, while still difficult to compare and might potentially still be in the top 5, isn't the best.

I think you've done alder "dirty", you didn't go over how good is his team, I mean losing to more people doesn't mean he's weaker, Ash's charizard has a pretty high lost rate, yet it's one of the 4 strongest mon ash has(I'm not counting sm because I didn't watch it yet) so the vice versa could exist
His Team gets bodied by Rock types and fire types. Only 2 of his Pokémon aren’t weak to those types, Druddigon and Bouffalant. If you have a Fire-Fighting type Pokémon with stone edge, you just need an Ice type for that Druddigon

He also opens the battle tower where he uses a full competitive team, and also fight other gym leaders often and has never lost, even battles for fun.

I had such a hard time defeating Cynthia. And i think i one shot everything in Leons team.
The only problem I had with his team was Dragapult I was underlevelled and one hit most of his team and by Underlevelled I mean at level 60

I remember hearing that the design for Cynthia came from Liv Kristine, the lead singer of Leaves Eyes. What makes that interesting was during DPs production, Leaves Eyes had reached their peak of popularity in Europe.
Fun fact about me, Iris was my first Pokemon game win ever. In Black 2 I barely won because her one Pokemon used dig on my Zoraoark, however you spell it, with a Rocky Helmet it held to barely squeak out a win.
