    I just bought a 2014 with 118,000 miles. The dealership has all of the maintenance records...it was very well maintained. Brought it to my mechanic, and he said that the engine was so clean that you could eat off it, and it has zero rust anywhere on it! The inside is meticulously clean too!
    I love it!!

    I pulled my travel trailer across country in this. It was def over the 9000lb capacity and it did awesome. It never let me down. I still own it and it has 200k miles and the A/C finally gave out. First real issue I've had with it since I bought it used 5 years ago.

    • @MotorMikeMedia
      @MotorMikeMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it is over 9,000 lbs. I miss spoke and said the estimated torque figures after the changes they made to it to fix some of the errors of the early 5.4L, but when it was done, it made more power and torque. Once they made some fixes on it It was pretty reliable and was around for a while until it was replaced by the coyote 5.0L V8. Good catch! 👍 Thanks for watching!

    • @fsb_-bf3th
      @fsb_-bf3th 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MotorMikeMediain expeditions it wasn’t replaced by the 5.0 coyote. In the f150 yes by 2010 or 2011. In the expeditions it was replaced by the 3.5.

    • @MotorMikeMedia
      @MotorMikeMedia  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @fsb_-bf3th The Ford F-150 got the coyote 5.0L, and the expedition got the 3.5L V6. So you could say that technically, the 5 4 V8 got replaced by a 5.0 V8 in some vehicles and the 3.5 V6 in others

    I have a 2011. I had a small spot of rust from dirt that built up in the rocker panel that was easy to fix. If you dont keep up on the oil changes the engine can run rough in idle. I changed the spark plugs and the driver door window regulator. The CD has given me issues as well. Other than that I have had no maintenance. Overall the truck is quite rust resistant and its been reliable with no electronic issues.

    I have found that blend door problems can be mostly stopped by not turning the temperature all the way to hot or cold. This way the motor stays off the end of its travel to lessen the load on the motor. Seems to work in my 2014 Expedition. My old 77 Lincoln had vacuum operated blend doors that never failed. But now we have electronic blend doors that fail a lot. 🙄

    I'm looking at a 2013 SSV that's a former paramedic vehicle. Rockers are gone and will be replaced and the tailgate has a wrap with corrosion under it. Has 183k KMs on it (Canada). $8500 cdn. Being ssv everything is heavy duty. Not looking at it as a people hauler more like a pick up. My Land Rover LR3 is nice but there's not a lot I could find to replace it.

      It is getting harder harder to find a good reliable large SUV at a affordable price. The Land Rover LR3 is a great SUV but As long as a vehicle has been maintained properly.

    My family started off with a 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie baur trim model up until early 2021 Rust had eaten the Frame but the motor was still strong and healthy for having 240k miles, soon after we got a 2010 Ford Expedition limited in 2022 with 132k miles for $7,000 on Marketplace, it had its issues mainly the sun-roof not working and ball joints but other then that the motor is strong and healthy along with the comforts and ease it is to fold the seats, I had just replaced the factory radio/Navigation last night to a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX with a maestro Rr paired to keep steering wheel controls and rear dvd, it also has wireless CarPlay which is what I needed for this upcoming summer I only got the stereo for $70 dollars on Facebook so it was a no brainer to install it loving it so far 👏🏽

    The rest of the stuff you are talking about. Like the electrical issues with a a.c. vent flaps and the heated and cooling seats.
    That I have experienced plus the damn electric front drivers and passenger side windows.
    The wires/cables that are connected to the window frames.
    Keep breaking and I have tried to mickey mouse them back together again.
    Only to have them fail a few months later.

    • @MotorMikeMedia

      Yeah, these vehicles can be pretty expensive to maintain. It's sad that a lot of electrical issues AC vent flaps driver passenger windows and seats. And all that stuff have so many problems from the factbrief as they get older and only it's worse. They just ride so well when things do work. They can be good vehicles if you got some extra money and / or time to put in them.

    Actually the 5.4 3v (found in these expeditions) doesn’t have a spark plug detonation issue. That was a 5.4 2v problem. Ford “fixed” the spark plug detonation issue in the 5.4 3v but fixing that problem brought on a new one. The spark plug tends to get stuck in the engine when replacing them. So basically if you don’t ever replace your spark plugs you won’t ever encounter this problem.

      Very nice! Yes, unfortunately, nowadays with cars being so expensive. It is not really worth buying a brand new car. Onless it is something you absolutely want. And you plan on keeping it until it dies. Finding use vehicles that have Bin maintain properly and still in your shape. It can't be hard to find, but it's so much worth all the savings you can get.

    2:35 the 3.5 ecoboost could tow more than the old v8. I can tell you have never towed with an ecoboost before.

    • @MotorMikeMedia
      @MotorMikeMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are right I misspoken in my head I had the information for the 2.7 EcoBoost not the 3.5 for towing Yes a 3.5 will out blow the 5.4 Triton as well as the 5.0 coyote the 3.5 is a beast I misspoken but thank you very much for catching it I'm a big fan of EcoBoost as well as the current coyote engine

  • @blackericdenice

    If I bought one. I would put a 2.7 ecoboost v6 engine in there.

    • @MotorMikeMedia
      @MotorMikeMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That'd be a cool engine swap 👍

    I’m looking at a 2013 with 155,000 miles for 12,500 is it worth it?

    • @MotorMikeMedia

      If the body is rust free and nice and interior is clean. Everything's working electronically on the as well as the four by four working with a strong running engine. Yes, it is worth it if it's clean and strong running. If it's rough or needs a lot of work, then no.

    I've heard the 2nd generation was the best. The one with the smaller engine. Any opinions?

    • @MotorMikeMedia
      @MotorMikeMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the second generation and the smaller engine are more reliable vehicles 👍

    • @MotorMikeMedia
      @MotorMikeMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah l these vehicles do become very costly to maintain the older they get and do have quite a few problems or gremlins that can pop up. Like you said sometimes you need to know when to cut your losses

    1 owner 08...main bearing knock appeared out of nowhere idling this week..93k mi
    so much about this I cant stand...had better reliability , knee room from a 10 yr older Silverado.
    13 F150 Lariat even more problem prone. Try to give all mfrs a chance but these are just pos not what they used to be

    Nice review. I have a 2010 Limited EL. We love it. There are a few things that are annoying, however.
    Also, the rear entertainment only plays DVDs, not Blu-rays. The front screen can also play DVDs, but not while driving obviously, and not for the back screen. I have also had to fix the ground wire for the heated/ac seats. I also have the annoying clicking from the blend door (just recently).
    I don't have the rust issue though, other than the small paint peel on the front hood, and a very tiny spot on the back tailgate. My running board motors just went out on my as well.

      @MotorMikeMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much. Yeah, you're right, thank you. Good catch 👍 They do have there problems that can be annoying, but usually, the rest of the vehicle makes up for it.
