9 Pro owner here, glad I picked this in spite of the negative reviews, performance is a beast, cameras are good enough for most daily use scenarios, and the software is cleaner than recent OOS iterations (I love this how there are stock Google apps for Phone. Clock, and Calculator installed).
As for the form factor, I upgraded from a OnePlus 3, so this feels smaller compared to that mainly coz of the narrower body.
And the fingerprint scanner position also worked out perfectly for me, I understand why some people might hate it, but for me coming from a physical home button placed right at the bottom of my OP 3, it was a perfect transition.
Honestly, OOS is so great now that I haven't felt the need to install Nova launcher this time.
The only beef I have with this phone is the average battery life. I, like Jared here, have set the display to FHD+/120Hz/Adaptive brightness too, but have never got anything like the 7+ hrs SOT (I only keep WiFi and BT on throughout the day for my Fitbit to work properly).
Most of the times, it'll range between 5-6 hrs, occasionally going 6+ hrs, but still fairly average.
Although the 65W charger more than makes up for it and I am good to go in 20 min (I keep the charge between 15-83% for preserving battery usually).
PS - Oh, and I've got the Pine Green colour, best one IMO, really love the matte finish and doesn't attract any fingerprints 😉

    • @thelucanz1432

It's still heating up but not to a overheating state at least for me, i watch a lot of video witch on this phone is really good, and not taking photos or selfies or filming daily i just watch media and chat. It gets a warm sure but at least not overheated yet

    • @a.Hopeful
      @a.Hopeful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Karan-ol2lh For me, I didn't get the camera related heating warnings even once, but then again, I live in India and haven't really been outside these past few months due to the Covid surge here. By the time I did go outside, they had pushed an update which probably solved that issue.
I did get a heating warning once when I was outside in the Sun and had everything on (Data, BT, GPS), but it was a very hot day (42C/110F), so it could be that.
Over-all I'm quite happy, and there's actually a great video by Danny Winget on TH-cam where he compares the camera between the launch software and with the updates pushed you should watch if you're considering it. It's a whole world apart and makes you wonder whether it's really better to wait a few months before buying a phone.

Bought 9 pro on 1st of April. As my first OnePlus smartphone. Here is my experience.
This phone was a bug monster.
    Had many big bugs.
Phone used to crash and restart suddenly.
    Also used to freeze sometimes.
With normal social media browsing it used get over heat.
After two months of uses. And 5 updates.
Most of the problems are gone.
    It doesn't overheat as before.
    Camera is decent.
Performance is great tried asphalt 9 legend ,nfs , and call of duty at max setting working great.
Edited 4k videos on VN app didn't faced any lag. Photo editing is flowless as well used lightroom and snapseed.
    Now it's preety stable smartphone.

I find this with a lot of Chinese brands. They push out so many devices that they rush the firmware, slopping a barely working one with a lot of bugs that is slowly ironed out within a month or two.
I mean I've had the same with apple but not to this degree. A phone shouldn't be dropping radios out of the gate. That to me is inexcusable.

To me the OnePlus 9 pro is the best Android phone you can buy in the US. I've had both the 9 pro and S21 ultra and bottom line for me is the 9 pro is my go to by a long shot. The one area the 9 pro falls short is the telephoto lens ( S21 Ultra is insane). 9 pro has better faster cleaner software, much better design and feel in the hand and camera gives me consistently better photos. Oh and I can charge it up in 30 mins. Great review!

No one is complaining about iphones glossy finish even though they have taken away chargers, headphones, headphone jacks, and what not. And speaking of camera, I can take better images with this phone than iphone any given day. I dont know why people like ihpones's orangie pinkish low hilight images. Iphone blows out hilights every time, it got better with iphone 11 but still not good enough, not to mention the lens glare with every pic where lights hitting the lens.

I've been using the phone for a year now and i think this is the most accurate review about it. The screen + software optimization makes the use of the phone a true delight, the main shooter and ultrawide give incredible results, i specially enjoy the colors and out of focus of the imx789, night photography is also outstanding with a lot of options. As a downside, telephoto and selfie cameras are very average, the tele shows a lot of grain and weird colors, the selfie camera is the same as the Nord series or any other midrange phone. Battery life could be better too, i use it in 1080 res, 120hz and 4G only and i get around 4 hours of screen on time, which is enough for me but not for everyone.

You can disable the auto macro. Did it first when opened the camera. Also I dont even like the macro mode, telephoto gives a lot better result. Also the new camera update is pretty good. But it takes time to learn how much you need to adjust exposure before taking a shot. But when you learn what the software does the colors are unbelievable in most cases. Never seen such colors in any mobile shots. And I have already learned how the colors work so even with the UW I get all that color science. Telephoto on the other hand is still pretty meh. But I know it will be better in months to come. The only problem is that the electronic stabilizer is way too sensitive and getting that perfect shot can be fairly difficulty. But with updates it should be balanced as well. But from my perspective this is one of the top cameras there is. I mean ffs you have a screen that produce 10 billion different colors and a Hasselblad camera adjustments. I just personally love it.

The Hasselblad label certainly draws you in, shocked at your revelations. The camera is the most important feature for me. Which is why I bought a Huawei P40 Pro when they came out. A few months later when the iPhone 12 Pro Max arrived, suddenly Google got in a huff and my most important apps stopped functioning. Gotta love that free market protectionism! So I got the iPhone, its cameras are good, but disappointing when you’ve used Huawei. Shame the camera isn’t more Hassel, I would have had a very serious look at buying one.

I have the OnePlus 8 right now and so far it's been a stellar phone! Far better than the LG K20 Plus I had for three years. The minute I experienced the 90 Hz refresh rate, I was mind blown! I will note that when I first got it, I had Android 10 and that gave me zero issues. Android 11 made my screen colors look warmer on the lock screen and there are a couple of hiccups here and there when I use split screen. Also whenever I type, you can see the warm colors turn colder which I think looks better. I wanna see how far this phone can carry me but if I'm being honest, I'm eyeing the OnePlus 8T for the 65W charging and 120 Hz as well as the flat screen.

  • @robinlagelius

I am so on the fence on this one, in particular because of the camera's heavy lean into the blues. I seems this aspect has been improved in recent updates, but the pictures people are taking still seem a bit colder than I would like. I am choosing between this phone and the pro 8. What makes me most interested in this phone is the performance coupled with the fast charge time. It doesn't help the deliberation process that the 8 pro is on sales in a lot of places right now (like veery on sale), haha.

  • @floatypiet

I treated myself to the upgrade from the Oneplus 7T, which was also very good. Only the camera couldn't quite keep up with the flagships. The last software updates also made camera software a bit worse, at least it seemed like that to me!
The Oneplus 9 Pro is once again a real pleasure. The 120Hz display just slips away, Warp Charge is just awesome, the many little software gimmicks that make OxygenOS so great - so well thought out! And then the new camera! WOW - finally I am photographing what I see with my eyes! Maybe even a little nicer! This first step - working with Hasselblad on color calibration - did Oneplus good! I am simply thrilled with this device!

I just bought this phone (S20 FE 5g was the only alternative as other Samsung phones in EU are using Exynos) - I don't like rounded corners but they disappear with a proper case, it was also easy to buy a uv glue based screen protector (but I'd still like flat screen). I love the quick charge (comparing with my last Samsung and 15W) but miss SD card reader (my previous phones always had it). I still have to get used to new camera but for now it looks good. I've switched launcher to Nova Pro as first screen with news feed was really annoying (and I didn't find a way to remove it). I'm also happy to get rid of Samsung ecosystem with lots of duplicated and unnecessary apps and services.

I agree 100% with your review. Am also using this phone for more than 70days! I could have said that this is just simply awesome at the price range but I kinda got really annoyed with some bugs in the latest OxygenOS11, especially the gallery application and default launcher. The situation here is my piece is taking around 3/4 seconds to load up the entire icons and widgets in my home screen. It's a drastic thing we could expect from a 12GB variant phone! And also slightly disappointed with the battery draining and stuffs. But as you mentioned we can simply cut of the draining level of we compromise on refresh rate , brightness and also switching on that power saver mode.

The camera overal i like , the ultra wide is indeed a great one , nice crisp shots , ... I am an hairdresser and nowadays we need to get pictures from our customour hair for social media and stuff , thats where this phone camera goes wrong ... when i look at those "hair" pictures they almost look pixelated especialy in the gallery app . i paid 999 euro for this phone so that i was not expecting :(. All in all a realy good phone but i need those "hair" shots and its not getting it done for me . and thats a real bummer for me after paying that price.

I bought the OnePlus 9 pro for the camera, basically. My last OnePlus device was the OnePlus One, and the OS drove me fucking nuts and I couldn't go back. But answer me this: if you are not an apple fan and refuse to use Samsung (cough Fuck Knox cough), what phone would you choose then? That was my predicament. My prior phone to this was an LG V40, and those cameras severely disappointed me. Hopefully this phone won't!

People hate on this op9pro is from
    1. US price . I think in place where op9pro cost same or near 100$ difference samsung and iphone are better but in many countries where op9pro is 500$+ less then samsung and 800$ + less then iphone people still hating it after comparing those is kinda stupid when difference is 10%-15% better but price is 50% - 80% difference...
    2. Change in head management of OnePlus ... And big member leaving it .. yeah that did cause huge problem for company and it's slow down many things which lead to problems but I feel OP has been trying to resolve this and I hope they will regain there work force soon... But overall there response and patch up are good they are trying...

Not gonna lie, really want to buy the 9 Pro, with only one issue holding me back. So far I've owned the OP 1, 2, and 6T, and I've had this issue with all of them - when i want to record a video for IG stories the video is terribly slow, and my video looks like a slideshow/PP Presentation, rather than a smooth video. Any advice anyone? I can fix this issue by buying a bitten off apple, but I really wanna stick to Android. Please help por favor.

Jared it seems like a very good phone but I would personally go with Find X3 Pro or in my case just keep the X2 Pro. I just can't justify spending a lot of money for any OnePlus or Xiaomi for that matter as they don't have the premium brand status.

I literally bought the S21 Ultra and OP9Pro to decide between them. S21 camera is much better, but it's so much heavier and so uncomfortable compared to this phone. This may be my favorite phone to hold, ergonomically. Plus this pine green color is absolutely gorgeous and the finish is grippy enough, yet fingerprint-proof. Returned the S21 Ultra, and haven't looked back.

Verdict : the 9 pro is really a good deal for its money ( i got mine 740€)

I've had mine for 3 days now. My last OnePlus device was the 8pro (which I didn't like). Still think the 7 Pro is their best device, ever.
Enjoying the 9 pro so far and battery is better than expected. Hate that I paid so much for a phone but hey, what's life about lol. Performance is fucking spot on. Camera is good enough for us normal PPL and I have a fine eye.

But after seeing a few comments like yours I feel like Upgrading to the Oneplus 9 regular will be a great experience and it was once my dream phone to own because of the lack of bloat ware compared to a Samsung, I have a good feeling I’m going to enjoy my first Oneplus phone

In my humble opinion portrait pictures is the biggest downside of this camera. Portrait pics taken with GCam are much better: sharper, look more natural and not like oil paintings when you make pics bigger. I am not saying you'll take much better pics with gcam overall but when it comes to this type of photo then yes the difference is night and day.
In general I do consider this camera pretty good although there's still room too improve.

Gonna switch from a p30 pro to a 9 pro because plus one is similar to huawei.
To be honest huawei was the best phone ever.
Tried to replace it with a 12 pro max sent it back could not get used to the crappy apple slow touch response on the screen or the hollow sound from tapping on the screen or the back.
Tried a s21 ultra but hated the cheap feel and the massive amount of crappy compulsory software pre installed.
    So sent that back also.
Now hoping one plus is the way forward.

Great review and a really big thumbs up for the quality and variety of the Cam shots, sooo much better than the average crap we always get on a review o7 dude, can I just say to everyone moaning about colour changes on lenses.... Get over it, learn to edit in snapseed or lightroom, when you see great pics Anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE by a photographer, as much work goes into editing as goes into planning the shot. Those of us who are Canon, know that Fuji, Nikon etc will have a different tone to the shots, not bad , not good just different, equally 5 different 4 grand lenses will all have their unique qualities, you learn them, and you edit accordingly.
