  • In this video we take a look at the RVS-155W backup camera system from Rear View Safety. This is an easy to use digital wireless video camera and Monitor Kit for your RV or large vehicle.
This camera has been updated and you can find information on the new camera here. www.rearviewsa...
The camera mount has been extended so the camera now has a greater range of motion and can be angled further up as well!
The RVS 155W is a complete wireless backup camera kit that utilizes a digital wireless transmission technology to transmit a crystal clear image from up to 100 feet behind the monitor.
The system includes the camera, monitor, suction cup mount, and wires and hardware to connect them. We found installation very easy as only the power wires needed to be connected.
The camera and monitor seem well built. The camera is waterproof and has night vision IR lights so it can see in complete darkness.
Overall we really like the system. It works very well as a backup camera to help menuvering in tight spaces, and is very nice when going down the highway to see once your past someone and make sure noone is behind you.
The only issues we had with the system is a few times at highway speeds we saw the camera stutter a little bit and at night the monitor is much to bright even on the lowest brightness setting.
The camera connects very quickly and is so easy to use. Overall we have been very happy with the RVS-155W and would recommend it to anyone looking to add extra sight and security to their RV or large vehicle.

Thanks for the helpful review. The manual that came with the RVS-155W left a lot to be desired.

This has been so helpful. We had a backup camera installed when we bought our used motorhome. I don't know if I accidentally push a button, but it was reversing the image. My husband would be directing me from the drivers side, but the camera showed him on the passenger side. I see from you video I must have one of those "Mir/nor" buttons. Thanks for your help.

The studder is caused by frame rate buffering overload. Since you are moving at hi-way speeds any great amount of change in the pixels in the frame caused by fast motion of any object, it will cause digital cameras to studder. You see, the way they "save" band width on digital camera transmissions is by transmitting only the pixels that have changed, and it can only do this so fast. So you will see this in digital transmissions in sports events on LCD screens, they will studder too if the screen refresh rate is too low. This is why people buy 240 Mhz LCD TVs in stead of 120 Mhz refresh rate LCD TVs, so they can see the sporting events without studdering. Since this camera transfers Frames through digital transmissions, you are seeing studder because of the cumulative changes in pixels per frame that have to be transmitted to update the image in the monitor up front. If the camera and monitor where on a higher frequency, the total through put would be greater and there would be no studder. Like when you use 5 Ghz on a Home WIFI system instead of 2.4 Ghz, it has a greater through put because it can transmit higher amounts of data for the same bandwidth of one channel because it talks twice as fast as the lower frequency. Hope this helps. Cheers and as always God bless.

I bet buffering is part of it but it seems to be a signal issue. It has a signal indications and when its strong there is no stutter. The stutter is also full frame, not parts or individual pixels. It is possible that a higher frequency would work better but you would need a considerably higher transmitters power. Overall the problem is intermittent and does not occur very often so we are still very happy with this camera.

Congrats getting the screws through the bracket into the camera. Several hours no luck on my part.

Nice video very helpful and informative. I now just need to find someone locally that does reviews and have them install 2 side cameras and 1 rear view camera. My 82 short bus would benefit greatly considering I can not see anything at all right now from the rear or either side.
    Thanks again for the review.

Yes Rear View Safety has a kit that has 4 wireless cameras. 1 rear, 2 side and a front. Of course you can place them wherever you want, and all four will show up on the split view screen monitor.

i just hooked mine up basically the same way..got it working only after hooking it up backwards and nearly melting the black wire..im sure the orientation of the antennas the same will help, but i wonder, i do get some staticking out of the signal, while stationary in the yard, and my voltage at the RV lights was reading about 11.51. it should go up with the truck running at highway speed. and the seller did provide an extension antenna that we can run out the truck window and place on the roof.. thx
