Back in 1999, these things came out in big screen and even 24 years later Lego still hasen't nailed their complex look, great work with this smaller scale Droideka model and great use of the minifigure hands also.
You did a perfect job with this!!! So much detail in such a tiny scale. I love how it stands on its own. Great idea using the brown hand pieces for the tip of the head
FINALLY a droideka with a good ball mode, I’ve been waiting forever and not only have you managed the quality ball but also way better detail than most mocs ive seen
Oh yessss, perfect timing! I was just about to start hunting for the perfect Droideka at minifig scale, and boop, here you are dropping such a detailed lil' guy!!! Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
I remember building a really cool droideka I was super proud of but it was ridiculously overscaled which I didn't pay attention to at the time. It's amazing to see how many new parts Lego has created since then and how the Lego community immediately used them to create amazing new things!
Thanks!! I myself had an oversized model back in the day and I couldn’t agree more! New pieces just unlock new possibilities, and that’s why I love Lego, it’s constantly evolving!!
Loved it, but I believe that the shredder claw piece, 88811, works better for the droideka's eye stalks if attached upside down, and piece 892pb025 in place of the brown clips.
Incredible work here dude! I actually just ordered all the parts off of Brick and Pieces to build 4 of these for myself. We need more kind, and creative minds like yourself in the LEGO Star Wars community!
Thsnks!! I guess they’d have to figure out a different head since they can’t use Lego hands in official sets this way, but it’d still be like 80% there!
The hip piece is a new version other than the original, it was brought back and used again (to my knowledge) first for a Ninjago gimmick set for Lloyd, back when the first wave of dragons rising came out.
Love it! This is probably the best minifig scale droideka I’ve ever seen. If there’s one thing I think it’s missing, it would be the third “eye” prong under the two main ones, but I don’t really think there are many solutions to this that would work in this scale. Still, amazing work, thank you for sharing!
@@2bricks How about a vertical clip with a harry potter wand just before the head attachment 1x1 round stud, it'd extend the head forward a fair bit though. Not sure how well it'd work as I simply don't have those parts but you could always try replacing the 1x1 round stud with a clip on top stud and introduce the slight hump that the droideka tend to have just behind the head?
Wow, just wow! This is absolutely perfect! Now all we need is a shield, which I saw another MOC user made one by putting a blue lego canopy half sphere piece with the piece that connects the hip piece and the battle droid torso and puts in front of the droideka.
For the longest time, I never liked using mini fig hands but this design has made me lighten up to the idea. Though I would like to see a LEGO-approved version without hands.
I’d like that too! Lego should really introduce a piece that can fit the same uses that a minifig hand can, a clip with a short bar that can be used for detailing tiny spaceships and the like!
Really nice, probably best minifigure scale Droideka I've seen. Good job, I might replace all mine with this (once that part is available on bricks and pieces).
1:00 the best way to get that new piece (besides bricks&pieces/bricklink) is buying 40747 daffodils, since that set got 8 of them. it may not be the best flower set, but it is a relly great parts pack
Very creative, I wonder if Lego would use minifig hands for something other than hands. This would be an amount build that Lego should make for a future set
Just saw another youtuber "groovybones" take up the droideka too curious what you think of their assessment/design. The claw piece for the head I think was really, really interesting
Hey that’s great! The more the merrier! I considered the claw piece too but I ultimately didn’t like how it wasn’t able to fold up and how attention-grabby it was if that makes sense! Great job groovybones though!
Just a tiny tiny detail but I gut stuck on what you said (that you couldnt make the brown shoulders). My first Idea is just to use the stud with bar in reddish brown. It doesnt need to be Grey since the grey hand piece already provides this color in this general area.
The bottom part is perfection. The upper body and arms are also great, but i really dont like the use of hand pieces. They work better for the arms but those can also just be left off. But for the head i would have wished something more legal 😂 Still great mostly grest, like i said
Easy way to get the new grey "droidika hips" piece for a decent price is from the daffodils set currently on end of year sale on walmart if you order online. Its $9 and change (you get 8) and some spare parts which will probably be cheaper than a brick link order and "free lego!" c: (I know someone else mentioned that but its a STEAL rn for anyone watching end of 2024!)
I legit don't understand why LEGO never made a nice Droideka like that. They don't need many pieces, have actual play features unlike LEGO's that can't roll up and they look much better.
Very cool build, but that piece isn’t new. It was released with ninjago. There’s another great video on a custom droideka that uses it from months ago.
Thanks!! Oh yeah, sorry I meant it was new to me, like the first one I ever came across. I saw later that it was in fact already an existing part, as you say!
There is! They consider it to be a “sub part” and not legally usable for anything but being the hands of a minifig, which I’ve honestly long thought was a bit silly!
Well the instructions aren’t going anywhere, maybe as you gather more Lego sets over the years you can build one just out of your own collection! Or as new pieces become available build an even better one!
The amount of detail you can get in such a small build is impressive! Probably the best version of the Droideka at this scale! 😄
thank you!!!!

The fact that it can actually fold up into a pretty propper ball elevated this from good to GOAT. Major, MAJOR props on this one.

To what do we owe all this banger after banger content. That's the best minifig Droideka I've ever seen.

As a fellow "small builds" designer, I can appreciate the subtle details. Great video.

This might just be my new favorite Droideka design, very innovative sir, great job.

This Droideka is for me probably the best ever made

To be honest .. LEGO makes AWFUL Star Wars sets anymore ! They don’t care about scale at all ... remember the Mando N1 starfighter ? Hot garbage
@@thomasthemtman From all the sets you pick Mando N1? Wild.. its only flaws were the brigh yellow pieces tbf

It also has an antistud, which the translucent pieces don't always have.

I like how you used hands to do the “face”. Could you design a GONK droid? I tried but it’s surprisingly difficult to make it accurate.
It really is!! I’ve tried and failed more than once lol but one day I’ll crack it!
Halfway through I thought, jokingly, ok now make it roll up. AND YOU DID

For shoulder armor maybe do a brown 32828 and put a lbg stud with hole on the bar end above the clip?
That could definitely work!
incredible work!
Honestly the perfect droideka moc. One tiny nitpick, but it happens to be made with more than 2 pieces.
lol thanks
would you make a modification to the larger droideka so that it can become a ball without the legs coming off?
