    Thank you for this video. It made me subscribe. What a fun weekend. I love Friuli. I'm an American whose mother is from Cormons. We've had great times in Cormons, Grado, Cividale, and all over this area. I'm fascinated by the Roman findings in Aquiliea. So much to see. In a couple years I will be spending most of my time there and I can't wait.

    I thank you very much for this wonderful video which took me back Home...now I am so damn full of nostalgia because of you! It is moving to see how strongly you are attached to your Home as well the enthusiasm that you are successfully spreading. I understand it: We really learn to know and love our homeland only after we have left it. Actually, I have the feeling that leaving Home is a necessary process for developing a true and expecially conscious affection for it. I think of Fryderyk Chopin and his beloved native Poland, which he left at the age of 20 to return nevermore. And he was in his heart a true Pole! The fact that your family is very Friulian is an identitary issue which plays a significant role too: In Friuli you relly feel at Home, and not only geographically, but also culturally. This is beautiful :)

    Hi Mary, I left a comment earlier, but for some reason it seems I'm still having some issues, and it doesn't seem to have stayed. Anyway, this time I'll try and keep it short, just in case it doesn't work.
    Loved the video, and I can see why you were missing Friuli so much, it's a really beautiful area!.
    I was impressed by how good the audio was, at the first concert you attended, but when it came to the Motta concert (yes I recognized, and liked it!), it didn't come across quite so well.
    It was a bit of an ambitious day for you, and the mountain trek was such a nice walk, that it's a shame you had to hurry back.
    I hope you enjoyed it as much as it looked from here, it seemed a pretty awesome day!.
    As for that concert venue, I couldn't imagine a much better setting... just perfect for a summer nights festival! (really amazing architecture!).
    Say hello to your Mom and Dad from me, from a cool wet wintery New Zealand!.

      Hey Andrew, I suggest always copying your comment to the clipboard before hitting "publish". That's what I got used to do and it works great.
      Because of Covid regulations I had to stay in my sector at the concerts and in both cases I had very bad audio because I was on the sides.
      I'm very sorry for your comment issue, I know it can be very frustrating...

    As an Italian from Trieste and now living near Gorizia, I really appreciated that you didn't share the name of the place you've been near Tolmezzo.... the Palar creek is a total mess now that it's too well known in the region, some years ago it was a peaceful and quiet place -.-'
    The magic of Friuli is that you can find awesome places even in your backyard, more or less ;)
    Anyways, you kinda opened my eyes: coming from the citylife to the Friulian flatland i felt like in a big vines and crops desert, but it has a lot to give, I think I just need to explore a bit more of it ;)

    • @WhatashameMaryJane
      @WhatashameMaryJane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the thing with more isolated places vs crowded ones: you need to put the effort in researching and getting to know the territory before you discover the hidden gems. This is also why I didn't want to share the exact location, because I want the people to make the effort to discover hidden gems theirselves, otherwise they don't even feel as such to them in the first place.

    How I feel you. I understand that steps make the surface of the pathway more "stable", especially when it rains, but... Oh gosh, those things can kill the muscles of your legs 🙈
    OK, I keep watching the rest of the video 😁👍🏻
    EDIT: about people thinking life is boring outside the big cities, that's more of a "teenage" idea, that might remain in the mind of people up to their late 20's. I believe that, once you turn 30, something happens to your mindset (on average) and you start appreciating different things. Just like the "eternal fight" between seaside and mountains, in summer, when going to the sea is "cool" and going to the mountains is "boring". It all depends on who you are and, I believe, on your age as well.
    As you said, you too used to believe that Friuli was boring, but can you tell, now that you've grown up a bit more, how many things, that you used to think, now feel weird and "stupid" to you? 🙂

    • @WhatashameMaryJane
      @WhatashameMaryJane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I constantly meet people in their thirties, forties and fifties who live in cities because they claim to need easy access to culture and they're ready to pay the price that big city life requires for that. I don't think it "all" depends on the age.

    Bellissimo il momento dell'ospitata in famiglia, ma "cinematograficamente" mi ha colpito il passaggio tra 19:51 e 20:45 ; il paesaggio, l'arrivo in villa, poi l'attacco della canzone con tu che cammini lungo l'inqudratura... Sembra un film!
