    Both within 100 km from Rome, reachable by walking on the Via Francigena, Montefiascone and Viterbo are two pearls. The first one on a higher position by the beautiful Lake Bolsena, has been a very important center of the State of the Church. The second one, which has also hosted the headquarters of the Papal States, has an incredibly broad and well maintained Medieval city center. Just to give you a little hint if you're the average tourist who skips from Rome to Florence...you're missing out.

    • @WhatashameMaryJane
      @WhatashameMaryJane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't even try to understand the physics. The materials used are indeed relatively very light, but how they manage to keep such a high structure straight along very narrow and sloped streets is incredible.

    Living nella Tuscia Viterbese, 1km from the Via Francigena, I can appreciate how you have really caught the spirit and beauty of the place, an area of this wonderful peninsula so overlooked because of its vicinity to Rome but there again this can also be said for so much of Italy.
    I'm really looking forward to your other videos on this ancient and too often forgotten pilgrim route, stretching from Canterbury to Rome and onwards down to Puglia.
    What a wonderful channel.

    A fantastic video Mary!... I think you really put all your considerable talents to use here, and made a video that captures the mood and the historical context of this area, and the festival that makes it special!.
    Even just putting aside your own special human characteristics, and presentation style... this video stands on it's own, as a great pleasure to view!.
    The festival ritual itself, is something very awe inspiring!, and I'm glad I had the chance to experience what it was all about... Thank you MJ!.

    Mio padre mi ha trasmesso la passione per questi "documentari", se avesse visto questo se ne sarebbe innamorato. So quanto lavoro ci vuole. Mio padre lo girava già con l'idea di come lo avrebbe montato, ma la ppst produzione richiefeva comunque tanto lavoro. Ma aldilà di questo aspetto tecnico, è incredibile come ti sei offerta alla telecamera ed hai bucato lo schermo! Immagino che per farlo hai dovuto lavorare tantissimo anche su te stessa. Sei la bellissima protagonista del video, figlia mia, accattivante, magnetica, mai invadente, le meraviglie della natura viste con i tuoi occhi diventano irresistibili. Continua così, manda il materiale alla RAI, secondo me c'è bisogno di te in questo piattume intellettuale. Grazie, grazie per le emozioni che hai regalato.

    Hi Jane , some time ago i started watching your videos.
    Though like them, but when I see videos of Italy, I am just falling in love with your Country. Italy is really an Amazing Country. In one of your video i had mentioned about my art. I have personally seen some part of Italy while travelling from Zurich to Marcillie in France. And was really stunned by the Scenic beauty. Couple of days ago you had replied in the comment section that one day May be your Country organize my exhibition. Some emotional attachment in my artistic Journey is also that my first ever exhibition was dedicated to our Prime Minister Mr Rajiv Gandhi ( was dead in a militant conspiracy). But for his exhibition his wife Sonia Gandhi inaugurated my exhibition. And she is from Italy. This exhibition was 28 years ago.

      Hi John, Rome cannot be visited in a few days, absolutely not, and neither by remaining tied to a tourist group and an imposed itinerary, free to turn and choose and it is so for all the Italian Cities, Towns and Villages, History, panoramas that differ only after a few kilometers, the people the food, yes the food, which also varies and often profoundly (cooking recipes) passing from municipality to municipality, in short, it takes time and desire to discover, for an accurate visit to enjoy the wonders of 'Italy. Lazio, for example, is sold badly for tourism speaking, there is the wonderful and unique Rome, of course, and then the rest just as splendid and interesting, it is almost hidden, not very publicized, as for example other Italian Regions do, a sort of semi concealment in the eyes of anyone, especially foreign tourists but also Italians.
