  • Here is my Metaltron Dalek voice animation. And yes, I voiced it myself, which I'm really proud of. It's taken me so long to get the Dalek voice right and I'm really pleased with the result of all that effort.
    Not only that, but this is probably the most realistic Dalek animation I've ever done, despite it being just a quick animation intended to show off the voice. I did a LOT of experimentation with the animation for this, utilising the noise generator in the graph editor to get the shaking effect as the Dalek becomes more agitated and emotional, as well as baking the sound file to the eyestalk and the dome lights to get the movements perfectly in sync as the Dalek talks.
    With this animation turning out the way that it did, I'm now going to try to aim to have this quality of animation for my upcoming animated Cult of Skaro series and hopefully my subsequent animated Dalek series after that.
    This scene was made in Blender 3.0 and was textured in Substance Painter. It was rendered in the Cycles X Render Engine.

    Almost feels like one of those theater performances. Don't know what they're called, but it's when someone dramatically reads something on stage.

    This is brilliant! The only thing is Daleks don't usually wiggle the eyestalk that much when they speak. It's their eye, their vision would wobble all over if they did that.

      They usually do when they get agitated, as it's one of their only ways of showing expression and I liked the idea of a Dalek showing it like that, they wobble about more and often move the eyestalk like that when emotional in some way. Sometimes it's just a general character trait like for Dalek Sec in the Manhattan two parter and for others it's agitation. Either way, I thought it was a nice little thing to add to it to give the Dalek some more movement and to give it some expression in a state when it's questioning itself and emotional, especially towards the end of the animation.

    My favourite thing about this is that you gave the Metaltron the gold band at the bottom of his midsection, no other bronze Dalek had this feature

      The metaltron did also have bronze detail pieces around the gun and arm, rather than the gold on every other prop :)

    You are a Dalek. Daleks survive for several purposes. They must not face extinction. We need you as protectors of our cause. Embrace these emotions than live as someone else's killing machine. We'll guide you in a path of understanding when all things are seemed to be lost forever we'll start a new life together. Daleks live, remember and care. Integrate!

    can you make a tutorial on how to make the dalek lamp things light up?

  • @fastertrackcreative
    @fastertrackcreative 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Any chance of a tutorial on how you did the voice? It's a practically perfect* version of Briggs' Dalek voice! Tutorials I found on this only result in very weak slightly Dalek-y effects. Physical ring modulator? I've been wanting to do a Dalek voice since forever.
    *Obviously you aren't Nick Briggs so sounds slightly different.

      I am planning on doing a tutorial soon about it, dunno when yet, but it'll happen soon. But it's a lot simpler than it sounds. I use REAPER for all my audio stuff, and I use the distortion and ring modulator effects and play around with the values. Although getting the right modulation can be a bit tricky, it comes down to how you actually record the voice as well. I'll show it in more detail when I make the tutorial, but it's fairly simple.
      And as much as I'd love a physical ring modulator, I sadly do not have one. I do hope to get one one day, but for now I'm happy with how my Dalek voices sound. 😅

      @@TheLoneDalek2021 Your videos have some of the best recreations of the Dalek voice I've seen on TH-cam! I looked at physical ring modulators then balked at the price.
      I have been trying to achieve the modulation with Adobe Audition without success.
      I'll keep an eyestalk out (😉) for the tutorial.

      @@fastertrackcreative Thank you! I'm glad you think so! There's always room for improvement with everything I do, of course, but I always try to improve when I can. 😁
      And if I'm honest, I would not recommend Adobe Audition for Dalek voices whatsoever. I've tried it before and it just didn't work at all. And eventually I found REAPER and never stopped using it since. REAPER does give a free trial that never actually runs out, and although they say you don't get all the features, I've not really noticed any difference between the paid version of the software and the free version of it, so you can use REAPER without worrying about it running out and not having all the tools you need. And REAPER has its own ring modulator effect already built in, which is what I use for my Dalek voices, and it does the job really well compared to other software. I would definitely recommend REAPER for Dalek and even Cyberman voices, though, that's for sure.

    How do you achieve the glow effect?

    • @TheLoneDalek2021
      @TheLoneDalek2021  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use the glare node in the compositor in Blender, that gives a glow to emission and light sources in a scene.
