    This picnic outfit is SHEER PERFECTION…love the seersucker, love the pink, love the rickrack!
    I’ve been lurking and watching for a couple years (just subbed a bit ago) and I’m working my way through your older videos…you have given me tons of inspiration for my own vintage style spin!
    The hair, the nails, and your top are all just lovely on you! You have definitely inspired me to branch out to color and fun prints. I used to wear just black or grey or other dark colors. But dang girl you make those brights look so good that I can’t resist playing with them in my wardrobe!
    Looking forward to your next video :)

    Hello! I have ridden the struggle bus with pattern markings as well. I use frixon pens (the ones that erase with heat.) I poke a hole in the pattern at the apex of the dart and put a dot on the fabric. Then I put dots where at each end of the dart legs. I do this for all the pieces, then I can throw those paper pattern pieces to the ground! I use my ruler to connect the dots and pin out or baste the darts. This is the best solution for me, giving me the most control over my markings.

    • @JenniferElise
      @JenniferElise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I might have to check those out. The fine point markers are great but they bleed a little and I always stress that they won't come out in the wash but if those pens disappear with heat that would be perfect! THANKS!!! ❤️❤️❤️

    Cute! I made this recently too. I struggled with the sizing on the top and I made a muslin😛. Also, for me the biggest problem I had was the low neckline (even though I raised it slightly) I didn’t have a bra that didn’t peek out. I considered adding some lace but finagled the top into keeping my bra hidden.
    As for PDF patterns I hadn’t thought of the good points you made, very astute of you! Thank you.

    • @JenniferElise
      @JenniferElise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @JenniferElise
      @JenniferElise  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is right!!! I'm so happy to say she is expanding the range of sizes on her patterns. She just released an expansion and has another one planned (up to size 34 I think) Yes! I've made that pattern a couple times now and love it!

    I LOVE your use of the rick-rack trim here and am totally on board with your changes.
    I’m thinking, maybe add a crisper interfacing to the front, sew it closed and make the buttons and placket false, then maybe add a zip under the arm.
    This way you can get better shaping in front without pulling/gapping.
    The neckline is wide enough to get your head through, so if the side opens completely, you can get the rest of you in and out.👍🏻
    Ohhh! Hey, maybe you can add a peplum for a more formal look, too? Am loving this top❤️

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m trying to make this top as well and it has been giving me grief! I really love how you did the sleeves and the rick rack brings it all together!!!! Question..... Did you have to line your skirt as well? My fabric choice is looking like I’m going to have to and I’m not quite sure how to do it. Thanks again!!!! 😍❤️

    • @JenniferElise
      @JenniferElise  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's all worth it in the end though...this top is fabulous! I was able to get away without lining the skirt. What I would do is attach the skirt lining before you put on the waistband or insert the zipper. Attach the skirt at the hem with right sides together than flip it right side out when done stitching. What's nice is now you don't have to deal with a hem!

I did make some matching American Girl doll PJs using a pattern from Walmart. She's a 2018 Luciana doll and my daughter is literally named Luci Ana after my dad. Hi Jennifer. This is such a gorgeous make. I’m actually making a vintage resort revere collar shirt in a very similar pink and white stripe. Considering this fabric is pale in colour it’s really slimming and flattering especially at the waistline. I’m not sure if it’s the wider drop shoulder or the break up of the top and skirt. Perhaps keep the shoulders as they are and just add some shoulder pads to stop the drop on the shoulder. That top is so gorgeous on you would be perfect teamed with long waisted shorts or capri pants. I love your sewing videos. Wishing you a very “ Happy New Year “ kind regards Craig 🪡🧵🪡🧵🪡🧵

    I'm so glad I rewatched this video (after your Yeti Hand video of course!).
    I'm really wanting to get into actually sewing my own clothing. I've been lurking on FB groups and subscribed to so many sewing 'tubes, and I just haven't made the leap yet.
    As a plus-sized lady, I'm afraid I'll hate wearing woven cotton clothing to work (semi-casual office. I can get away with a cardigan, T-shirt, and khaki pants). However, I'm not quite brave enough to try sewing knits. Are woven cotton blouses comfortable to wear at a computer desk? I've gotten so used to stretchy, plus-sized, frumpy clothes! Do the waistbands dig into your skin? Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Jen!

    Re: going through the trash to find discarded slivers of pattern pieces - Oh yeah, been there - done that. So depressing.
