    Awesome job! First, I was going to comment on your hair and say how nice it looked, before I even knew you cut it..Secondly, I love what you made for yourself and how awesome it was to see you turn a shirt and skirt into a dress. That looked sooo good!

    Love the idea of making a shirt & skirt in the same fabric to have the look of a shirtwaist dress, but have the versatility of separates! Also I am a clutz so having half the outfit wearable if a mishap causes a stain is great insurance on investment!

    So stinking cute! I’ve yet to sew anything with buttonholes…this pattern might just have to be my first attempt! I can’t get over how much it really does look like a dress when you used the matching fabric. Kinda reminds me of Gertie’s Scout dress.

    • @JenniferElise
      @JenniferElise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gorgeous peplum shirt, soooooooo flattering really slimming, neckline beautiful……. This pattern is so classy, it would look amazing in oriental fabric the shape is giving me Mitzi gaynor vibes in South Pacific. Loved the happy coat you made…. so glamorous. The hair too, that blunt nape shape being shorter makes your hair look fuller and thicker it really suits you. Another great sewing 🧵 video👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 kind regards Craig.

      @@JenniferEliseI know what you mean! I hadn’t been to a hairdresser for 2 years, during the recent pandemic. I was starting to do a very good impression of Repunzel 😬. Last November I had about 2 foot cut off, and it now sits at the top of my shoulder blades. I gave my hairdresser strict instructions on how to cut a vintage horseshoe haircut. Now I can style the Rita Hayworth curls 😄. Anyway, your hair looks very pretty! 🥰

    The good thing about transferring it is you don't have to worry about damaging the original pattern and you instantly know the pattern fits once your draft and mock up are done. I think you should turn the old mock up into a kimono or something light to cover your shoulders like a bolero

    Love this. I like how you did the collar. I don't like anything close to my neck either. I really enjoyed your videos!

    Love this! Also, your hair looks adorable! I do a long middy cut on mine, so it's pretty much above my shoulders most of the time now, and most of my life I've had super long hair, so I get ya on the suddenly my hair is short oh my! phase! ;) I'm getting excited because I'm going to be starting the process of bleaching my hair from black to pale so I can get gorgeous magenta hair also! ;) Can't wait! Really love your videos. Your directions are so clear, and as a plus size girl myself, it's nice learning how to size up.

    I LOVE how cute those tops turned out! They are definitely a combination of cute and comfort. I’ll have to check out peplum tops soon. Side note: do you have a good shirt waist dress for beginner sewists?

      Thanks! ❤️ You know I haven't sewed up a skirt waist dress yet but I know that Gertie has a pattern that would be great that's available for free on her Patreon page, its the Scout dress. I suggest it because she also has a sewing video on it as well. I'ts definitely on my list to sew :D

    Thank you for this. I'm getting back into sewing and I'm thinking this blouse is my first sewing project.
    Also, the blouse (or top) you're wearing in this video is lovely. Is it from a sewing pattern?

      Yay...I'm still obsessed with this pattern! The capris are from Di Brooks Outerlimitz. I have a few of her handmade items and they are amazing and pricing is so reasonable!

    Did you sew the shirt you are wearing in the video? If you did, what pattern is it from? It's so pretty. I mean the one you are wearing, not the one you are making.

    I love vintage fashion, but so much of it is form fitted or tucked in. I have a super high waist on a B shaped body, which means I have not one, but two tummy rolls and hold all my weight on top. Sigh. And since the top roll is larger than the bottom, belts or tucked in styles look horrible on me. Same with empire waist things. Basically everything makes me self conscious, but it's really hard to find anything that doesn't emphasize that I am basically an apple on stilts. Plus, since this isn't a very common body shape, there are no style tips out there. Another sigh. So, I will just admire your awesome fashion sense from afar.

      Hugs. I know finding the right style that works with our confidence can be difficult. I have a lot of stomach issues which can lead to bloating and discomfort so there are days I can't even look at something form fitting or even that has a waistband. On those days I tend to embrace fabulous caftans and more of a 60s A line dress shapes, things without a traditional waistband and not clinging. If you haven't already this could be a fun fashion avenue to explore. ❤️❤️❤️
