    If you can't tell which one's the chickadee and which is the human, the chickadee starts with a grace note.

      @@bobstarzstarz4476 I've never been blessed with titmouse in hand but watched (with a smile) as they flitted about as the cute chickadees claimed my hand as their "turf". Winter of course...their little feet were cold in my bare hand. One hour drive from the Adirondacks in NNY.

      Indeed! Female chickadees make the "Broken Dee" call, especially when the time has come to lay their eggs. It's interesting to know the distinction between the male and female chickadees ☺️

    I love chickadees. They are not afraid of humans. They sometimes land on my head in the woods like flies. Lol

      Get out, really?? The ones near me are very cautious. I've been unsuccessfully trying to get them to feed out of my hand by staying stock still next to the bird feeder, not a ton of luck though haha!

    • @dangal9366
      @dangal9366 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Ela.elizabeth in the winter, i put a few hand full of seeds here and there on the snow. When I go out, birds are waiting for me. There is no food in the feeders. That is when I hand feed them. Its either my hand or wait. The first time I just stood there next to a tree with a bunch of them in there with seeds in my hand far from my body and close to the tree. Took no more then 6 or 7 minutes for one to land on my hand and just looked at me for 10 seconds. Lol after that first one, they just took turns one after the other. After that one morning, when ever I have my hand out, within 10 seconds one is in my hand. Keep in mind, this is only in the winder in a cold climat, and with no other food in my feeders or elsewhere.

    • @Ela.elizabeth

      @@dangal9366 That's awesome! I don't think I have a huge community I'd them, I can usually hear 3-4 around my home. Rarely see them, but they whistle with me, haha! Do they also feed from your hand in the summer? Any other kinds of birds that also hand feed? I have a lot of gold finches, cardinals and the occasional jay near me, and I've heard but not seen a nuthatch. Very distinctive call! Oh and a few red headed woodpeckers. They all seem much to wary to hand feed, especially the cardinals. They don't even like being looked at (the male, anyway, the female seems more sociable).

      @@Ela.elizabeth in the summer there is no chickadees where i live. I guess they migrant north. I mainly only have a lot of bluejays in the summer. They wait till im far away to eat my food. :) if there is no food, they come pecking on my windows. Haha

    For years, whenever I went to the Farmstead in North Dakota, I'd hear this song in the woods, but could never see the bird that sang it. I always called it THE FARM BIRD. I didn't learn the name of the bird until a few years ago when visiting my Brother in Tahoe. At least 40 years of wondering!

    Not even close,if you want to establish a conversation with a chickadee, you have to learn what a chickadee "DEE" means there's many for example certain dee call means I'm here this territory is mine or there's a treat around here and so and so just don't whistle like a...... because doesn't mean anything to the bird.

  • @al01100
    @al01100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    That's really not a good idea, birds don't sing because they're in a good mood. This vocalization is primarily about territory and mating. By mimicking a bird it is possible that you can scare them away, they could mistake it as a challenge from a larger advisary
