Given how that one water tower literally says "El Reno" on it is already sending chills down my spine; the El Reno tornado of 2013 is to this day the largest tornado ever recorded (2.5miles/4km wide), and killed three storm chasers during its life; two of them were a father-son duo.
I am not sure it has to top it really. It can be its own movie with this many years between. The issue will probably come from home blue screen versus practical effects they use. I hope it’s good and it’s own movie.

@acatic80 4 storm chasers (including all of the famous twistex team and one amateur storm chaser) lost their lives in an ef3 back in 2013 near el reno, oklahoma with winds over 295mph. the only recorded tornado to ever kill storm chasers. Pretty sure its either a tribute or an alternate scenario as the ef3 didn't actually hit any densely populated areas
They can call it two weeks fr next Thursday. Lol in all seriousness though, how would you even make that sequel? Gyllenhall wouldn't sign on nor would Rossum, and Quaid has gone off the deep end. So completely new cast, and only clean up as story, not sure I would want to see that.
The acting in this trailer is bottom of the barrel. Helen Hunt won an Oscar for god sakes and Universal was too stupid to hire her as the wise, old tornado hunter.
Finally an intelligent movie studio that forgoes woke DEI crap for something many Americans will line up to see...the movie is already setting box office records
I REALLY hope they bring back Helen Hunt to make a cameo. They can bring her back as the now widow of Bill. Still chasing/studying tornadoes, still wearing that white tank top with that necklace around her neck with Bill’s wedding ring, still as brave and awesome as ever. It would be perfect.
You could always check the IMDB to see if she shows up, but soft reboots don't need cameos. They brought back the "DORTHY" homage, so that's good enough.

I was a kid when they used our farm to park the cast trailers, movie vehicles, catering, etc. I absolutely remember that football. He had that thing all the time. Even threw me a few passes.
Doesn't surprise me one bit --- Bill Paxton was liked by everyone and a really classy fella --- still miss him a lot and what he brought to his characters!
Been there. Can confirm he loved to throw that football while on set. It's signed by him.
Given how that one water tower literally says "El Reno" on it is already sending chills down my spine; the El Reno tornado of 2013 is to this day the largest tornado ever recorded (2.5miles/4km wide), and killed three storm chasers during its life; two of them were a father-son duo.

@@thefourshowflip I'd say that the only similarities between the story is that the MC used to chase but stopped doing so and is doing it again unwillingly at first. Which appears to be for completely different reasons than the first movie. I the OG Bill stopped chasing because of his relationship with Jo falling apart and getting a job as a newscaster. In this one it appears that MC stopped chasing because of a chase gone horribly wrong and potentially someone on her team died but switched from a field role to an office role within the NWS.
