I see 13 Hours is leaving some regions soon, so catch it while you can. Also, let me know which picks I got right, and what other war movies do you recommend?
10. Narvik 9. The Outpost 8. Beasts of no nation 7. 13 hours 6. The Bombardment 5. Mostly 4. The Forgotten Battle 3. Hacksaw Ridge 2. The Siege of Jadotville 1. All Quiet on The Western Front
Lone survivor with mark wahlberg was not that much of a good movie…. No story bulding and no attachement to the caracter…. I was waiting for a intense emotional movie and more psycological than juste people tracking them with no technique, just shooting. Mark played well same as all the other actor but the story wasnt good at all
I love the first 15 minutes of this movie. Then it all goes down hill. There are so many choices made to get the movie going, that it's highly annoying quite fast, and the worst thing is that it lasts. It REALLY want it to be good, but then you're just punched in the face. It could've been SOOO good!
As an Irishman, I am extremely proud of the heroes of Jadotville. Due to the fact of them surrendering ( completely out of water and ammo) , they were vilified and not afforded their due recognition unitil 21st century
Norwegian here. UN veteran of Lebanon and Bosnia. I watch that movie with immense pride for the Irish, but also for all UN soldiers that stepped up when needed.
A couple more recommendations if I may : - 12 Strong - The Covenant - The Lone Survivor Thanks for the list, have to check out a few. The Outpost, 13 Hours & Hacksaw Ridge are OUTSTANDING RIVETTING & AMAZING!!!!
Last night (i.e 2nd May, 2024) I watched "The Siege of Jadotville", it really is a great movie. As said in the movie, The Irish UN Peacekeepers had never fought in a battle or War, these was their first battle/war. Though out numbered, they weren't going to give up or die without a fight. The battle was very intense. I did learned a lesson from this movie, when you are out numbered, low on ammunition and under a lot of pressure, how you have to keep yourself calm and not doing something stupid like running here there without a clue during the battle.
It makes me wonder the reason why (you know who) is not in jail, and even bearing absolutely NO consequence of the Dept of State fiasco. Caveat: If I replace (you know who) with the name, youtube will delete my comment to protect its master.
Am a 77 yo Vietnam veteran. When l came home in 1968 l tried watching the original All Quiet. Could not get through it; too emotional. Year ago managed to watch new version. Watched entire movie. Both are great. Newer version is more violent. Not for kids IMHO 🇺🇸 🫡
I've seen the majority of these. Narvik, The Siege of Jadotville, and the Forgotten Battle were good, The Outpost also good, 13 Hours was great and I thought Mosul was fantastic. Will definitely watch The Bombardment and All Quiet on the Western Front (the 1929 original was amazing. I watched it as a kid, and wept buckets, but this looks a worthy successor). Hope that helps someone.
The new version of All quiet on the Western front is NOTHING like the 1929 version except the characters names and one scene. I was very disappointed. The film in itself is very good but why they claim it is based on the book is a mystery as It does not follow the book AT ALL in ANY way. Even the plot of the film is vastly different from the book as it concerns an over ambitious officer seeking glory with a last offensive in the last hours before the armistice ends hostilities. Nothing like the book at all
@@Asgard2208 It is a good film with a good story and the special effects are amazing. Just fek all to do with the original book and film that was banned in 1930s Germany PS Thanks for the reply
i liked that it didnt follow the original film and book as that has already been done before 👍 no need to do it twice is there, if you want something that followd the book, then watch the original, simple.
I agree with all of these movies and I recommend watching Stalingrad on TH-cam and its available right now, its one of the best WW2 movies and the details are absolutely amazing.
The Dutch films The Resistance Banker and Riphagan are worth watching along with the Australian Film Danger Close (if you watch Danger Close). Listen to the closing credits. The song at the end is extremely moving
Checkout the backstory, the battle of Long Tan is well worth studying. Delta company were very lucky, a lot of things that happened before the 18th August turned the tide in their favor.
Mosul & All Quiet on the Western Front are my top choice war movies on Netflix, no Outpost in the UK currently. Seen all the other movies listed too, which I would also recommend.
The outpost is number one for me. Great movie, very gritty and intense and seeing the medals of honor the soldiers get after the battle really makes you appreciate what they did especially seeing such a great depiction of their heroism.
Hacksaw Ridge was so incredibly good, and so was All quiet on the western front, I would greatly appreciate if you made lists also of movies outside of Netflix. Haven't seen the Forgotten Battle, gotta check it out.
thank you, personally as an Irishman the siege of Jadotville I highly recommend. For anyone bothered have a google about the story and aftermath as its only in the last couple of years the heroes were finally hailed as such.
13H are always in the way, when I actually want The Siege of Jadotville. For some reason it's what is pushed in your face instead of everything that's better. Narvik are easily the best here. But we're so used to hollywood action, that I suspect it's not gonna reach up with the most.
from this list, The Outpost is the only one I haven't seen and isn't currently available in the UK. War films I recommend are Tears of the Sun, The Last Full Measure, The War Below and '71.
Narvik is not a movie about resistance fighters - it is the story of the Norwegian Army fighting the German invaders. Resistance fighters is a term used to describe guerilla warfare. Hacksaw Ridge tells only a portion of Desmond Doss' story. While the movie concentrates on Doss' exploits on Okinawa, he had already proven himself having been decorated twice (Bronze Star with V device) for valor for landings in Guam and the Philippines. Both movies are still excellent and worth viewing.
Restrepo (2010) is well worth a watch. It is a Documentary that follows an Army unit assigned to the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan. For me, this is one you can only watch once.
Buddy, you missed almost every single one. You got Hacksaw Ridge, and 13 Hours, thank goodness, but missed Lone Survivor, Covenant, Tears of the Sun, Black Hawk Down, and Fury. All of which are true stories, or in the case of Fury, a true to life adeptaton
I see 13 Hours is leaving some regions soon, so catch it while you can.
Also, let me know which picks I got right, and what other war movies do you recommend?
Another war film i recomend is Jarhead and saving private ryan
an other film i recommend is:
Sandcastle gives a good look on the impact of someone that is done but still needs to fight.
Saving the private Ryan
Amazing film; haunting in the fact of it being a true story
Not on Netflix, but Black Hawk Down is one of my favorites of all time.
10. Narvik
9. The Outpost
8. Beasts of no nation
7. 13 hours
6. The Bombardment

Absolutely great movie, brutal that they did not support them back home
Jadotville was incredible and cnt believe how bad they treated those soldiers
Jadotville is one of best movies I have watched. Love it!
Everyone should watch All Quiet on the Western Front.
I agree! Fantastic movie
I disagree 😂
Yep. Its a great anti war movie. Though dont watch it for historical accuracy
Gotta finish it
I agree
13 hours is insane!!!
Beast of No Nation is excellent and heart breaking. Believe me, although it's not about US marines or 2nd World War, it's a must see war movie.
Tears in the sun
Black hawk down
Lone survivor
american sniper, hurt locker, act of valor
Black Hawk Down was super good.
Tears of the sun…. Legendary movie
The outpost
Tropic thunder....

The greatest collection of war films of all time.
Also The Zookeeper’s Wife , Women in War and The Heroes of Telemark.
13 Hours will always be my favorite❤

Used the bullets twice!
All quite on western front is my favourite.
Fury is another one to check out if you haven't already one of my favourites
Fury is Brad Pitts best work, IMHO. Can you imagine the shit that went down behind the cameras with that prima donna cast.
My favourite war films are 1) Zulu, 2) The Outpost 3) Lone Survivor 4) Blackhawk Down.
All are must watch movies!
I want to add black hawk down it's very good movie 100% recommended ❤❤
