I'm 37, and my parents took myself and my 2 younger siblings to see the original on May 18th 1996. (8 days after its original release date. I was 9, sister was 7, and brother was 4). It was my parents anniversary, and soon after we got home from the theater, we had a tornado warning in our town in Northern IL. Nothing came of it, but I did see a tornado try to form, above my neighbors house across the street. After that day, my brother and I became obsessed with weather, our sister, more afraid tbh. Anyhow, this movie will forever have a place in my heart and is probably my all time favorite movie. With that said, I pray this one lives up to the original.
Saw Twisters tonight, and I was blown away!!! The special effects are incredible, there was emotion and heart, and the movie was doing its own thing despite being a direct sequel!
The original is one of the greatest movies of all time!! I owned it on VHS and it was the first DVD I purchased after I purchased my first DVD player. I hope this honors the original as well as Top Gun Maverick did Top Gun.
This is what got me to apply to film school at 18 and have an over 20-year career in the industry. I got to work with Bill twice and it was simply magical every day. I am so thankful this storyline is back.
I watched Twister 30 times, and each time I enjoyed it. Everything about that movie was perfect. Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman were great acts.
Twister brings back a ton of 90s nostalgia for me. Its the reason why I fell in love with weather and storm chasing. Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt were the best. Not to mention Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Dusty! RIP so many great actors. I hope this is a good sequel and honors the first movie!
No it doesn't. This is Hollyweird showing us they've run out of ideas and now they're going back to the old catalogues to remake or give unnecessary sequels to better/timeless films.
I'm just going to say this. The first movie, is iconic. It is the reason I have such a love for storms, and stormchasing. PLEASE DON'T RUIN THIS MOVIE!
I love to see Twister come back on TV every year. Reminds me that the hell of winter is over and spring is coming. Love me some thunderstorms with an occasional hint of tornado.
Ironically, The 1996 movie was never developed to be the masterpiece gem it is today. The producers thought that it would be just a fun B list movie for the 1996 summer. They weren't looking to set or break any records with it yet it became the 2nd highest grossing film of the that year.
Saw it in the cinema and watch it once every couple of months. They caught lightening in a bottle with twister, absolute classic, perfect cast, perfect soundtrack and for the time the CGI was spot on. Maybe they should try to make a fun B movie more often because not many natural disaster movies live up to this one

Actually the story in the first one was really really good. Ya it's hard to make a good story around chasing tornados, but they accomplished it in the 1996 one. Great movie. And great actors.
I could go for a remaster of the original, with improved CGI and adding clouds and lightning to the backgrounds of various shots that were filmed on clear days, but took place during severe storms in the actual film. For example, the whole flying cow sequence.

They should’ve just re-released twister back in the theaters, it would still make a killing like they did with Titanic when they re-released it, so that way people can get the true theater experience with it
I mean to be fair, whenever anything original does come out, it more often than not flops at the box office. General audiences don’t seem to show up for anything original with the exception of Christopher Nolan.
"It's already here." Such a great line. I loved how that scene built up the tension with little menacing moments, like the TV signal going out and the lightning increasing. Tornadoes at night are extra terrifying since in a sense they can sneak right up on you. Based on the quick clip, looks like the nighttime scene in the sequel will be at a rodeo? I have a feeling that means flying horses.
If this movie sucks, it won't affect the original. I'm just going in for a good time enjoying tornadoes rather than worrying about if it's as good as the first:)
I feel like this also is just a different feel to the original. There were flashes of drama towards the end, but this felt like a turn-your-brain-off Roland Emmerich disaster movie than a proper sequel.
Its so rare to see a tornado in bright lighting, the original captured that green hellish gloom that was the forerunner to a tornado, These CGI tornados almost feel cheap. But I am going to give it a chance
It was EPIC being played in the theatre!!!! I had to have seen TWISTER 15 + times!! It was $3.25 per ticket 🎫 and dropped to $2 after about a month. I saw it 4 times when it was first released, and hen when the ticket prices dropped to $2 , I saw it MANY more times LOL OH 1996... to be 14 again!! ❤
I saw it twice in theaters when I was 13 - it was playing at the exact same time as Independence Day, and I also saw that twice. When you were watching Independence Day you could hear bass and disaster noises from the tornadoes on the next screen over, and when you were watching Twister you could hear muffled explosions from alien attacks.
I have a small "movie theater" in my house. It is pretty epic on the BIG BIG screen with full surround sound. The opening scene alone is a masterclass in spatial audio. Easily one of the most bone chilling scenes ever! (especially late at night! haha)
Many people have expressed surprise that the original is still so beloved by people who were kids in the '90s. I think a big part of that is that on top of some really great character acting by several beloved actors, the original "Twister" was one of the first films ever to be released on DVD. It was often used in home theater retail spaces to sell people on big screen TVs and surround sound at home, which were also things, that had not been available before. It's testament to great sound design and VFX (for it's time). The original had a heavy hand in changing how we see movies in the modern era. I'm rooting for this film. I hope they wow us again.
They can try to wow me. Being a real storm chaser it's gonna be hard for Universal to win me over. Grew up with the original Twister & I will judge the new one carefully. I've kept my VHS behind glass after all this time.

You're saying that like this is trying to overshadow the original, which is clearly not the case.
Same this movie made me love tornados and I was obsessed with them I did class projects on them I used to carry the VHS everywhere I went whenever dark clouds thunder and lightning and high winds were happening I was hoping for a tornado as cliche as it sounds and I still find tornados fascinating till this day
@@StandbySMI'm kinda curious as to how you arrived at this answer since most of it is shot for shot copy's of the scenes from the original movie.... Only thing that has changed is the characters
I remember after Bill passed away, all the storm chasiers came together to spell BP. RIP Bill we miss you!
It was a sad day.
I love the way big heavy vehicle flies away but the people are still running! 😂😂
They were outside of the suck zone.
Magic of movies😂
I laughed my ass off at that! Idiots think better fx = more realistic or better movie...then forget basic logic or physics. So we see people RUNNING in winds that are tearing a car apart-just feet away from them....
@@ethanhedger6136 I think this entire movie is a suck zone...
Thats the Way I like movies like this🎉
8.0 / 10 🍿
Good acting , good visuals , good location , good plot 🍿 medium budget
Brings back memories of the original Twister movie. Especially the sensors!
In my teenage years I lived for these kind of movies. I am so glad they bring back Twister. Please be good!!!
Run to Jesus!
Read and trust in His word, the Bible!

If you have defected from God then read these Scriptures: (Lost Sheep, Luke 15:1-7 - Lost Coin, 15:8-10 - Lost Son, 15:11-32 - Rich Man and Lazarus, 16:19-31) Jesus is calling you back home, read His word, believe and repent. Saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone!.
The world is racing toward "AMAGEDDON" !!! And people need to get right with the Lord!
If you have not read the books of (Daniel chapters 7-12), (Ezekiel chapters 37-39) (Matthew chapters 24:1-51 + 25:1-30), (1 Thessalonians chapters 1-5), (2 Thessalonians chapters1-3) and (Revelation chapters 6-19), now would be a good time. They will explain a lot about what is going on right now!
These books will cover the "Wars" about to come, the Rapture, World judgement, hence the Tribulation and the Great Tribulation! These books will also be the most ominous and scary for the unbelievers and the most exciting and uplifting for those who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!

(John 14:6 > Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.)
It is my hope and prayer that people would repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ before all these things take place, because it is going to be very, very scary if you do not and you decide to wait and see what happens!

All glory, honour, power, and praise be to the Lord our God, Jesus Christ. Amen!
RIP Bill Paxton
Bill paxton made the twister movie good .Now we have to ruin it .
“Game over man, game over.” 🥺
Phillip Seymour Hoffman
@@scsclassics I hope not, but yeah probably
RIP character writing
Definitely enjoyed this one, I'm a sucker for tornado movies.
I hope the movie lives up to the expectation cause twister was a masterpiece. One of the finest tornado movies to ever made in world cinemas
They should’ve just re-released twister back in the theaters, it would still make a killing like they did with Titanic when they re-released it, so that way people can get the true theater experience with it
Hey Hollywood, come up with new ideas.... This one has been done and done perfectly the first time. RIP Bill Paxton
I guess they're out of ideas 😅
I mean to be fair, whenever anything original does come out, it more often than not flops at the box office. General audiences don’t seem to show up for anything original with the exception of Christopher Nolan.
This could be way better... RIP Bill Paxton but the first one was pretty bad..
His son has a cameo in it to honour is dad bill and fully supports the movie
Ill never forget the Drive In scene of the original. It was terrifying but epic and exciting at the same time
"It was something else."
@@CJ-oq6xs "Second horse!" "I gotta go we got horses!"
R.I.P Bill Paxton twister one was a classic.I remember seeing it as a little kid back in the day, hopefully this film is just as good as the first.
Also RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman ❤
I hope so but I have a feeling this is going to go to route of get woke and go broke very very quickly.
Twister is hands down one of my all time favorite movies they better not mess this up...
Have faith in them. They will mess it up. It's Hollywood in the 2020's. A place ridiculously lacking creativity and talent.
💯 🎯
@Genious. Good! All the good movie ideas have already been taken. Nothing wrong with doing remakes :)
If this movie sucks, it won't affect the original. I'm just going in for a good time enjoying tornadoes rather than worrying about if it's as good as the first:)
It’s not the same! Ha
The visual in the original was what set it apart. This feels very safe.
Glad someone noticed. The original just can't be beat, ever!
nor should it be. This still looks like a fun watch at least.@@IronMan-tk8uc
@@IronMan-tk8uc exactly!!

Oh god!
I really hope the original Twister gets a theater release. I want to experience it in theaters!!!
It was crazy. I went there when I turned 10 when it first came out lol.
Damn that would be cool
(especially late at night! haha)
Finally another tornado film for us tornado geeks to enjoy! IT'S THE WONDER OF NATURE BABY!
HELL YEAH!!! God I love that scene!!!! “THE WONDER OF BATURE BABY….” (Dunnadundunnadun)
dont you mean 'the suck zone"?😂

My whole obsession of tornadoes started with twister. Finally seing the sequel is just a miracle
Me too!! First time my mom brought it home for me, I watched it like 10 times back to back!!
Rip bill Paxton & dusty I hope this movie does justice in both of your memories
Many people have expressed surprise that the original is still so beloved by people who were kids in the '90s. I think a big part of that is that on top of some really great character acting by several beloved actors, the original "Twister" was one of the first films ever to be released on DVD. It was often used in home theater retail spaces to sell people on big screen TVs and surround sound at home, which were also things, that had not been available before. It's testament to great sound design and VFX (for it's time). The original had a heavy hand in changing how we see movies in the modern era. I'm rooting for this film. I hope they wow us again.
I am one of those 90s kids. I saw it in theaters it was epic as hell.
They can try to wow me. Being a real storm chaser it's gonna be hard for Universal to win me over. Grew up with the original Twister & I will judge the new one carefully. I've kept my VHS behind glass after all this time.
It wasn’t just one of the first movies on DVD, it was the first DVD ever (and was ironically also the last HD-DVD ever made).
Van Halen's Respect the Wind was beautiful. I hope this movie recaptures that amazing soundtrack.
It won't. Twister had one of the best and most diverse soundtracks I've ever seen. Van Halen, Shania Twain, Goo Goo Dolls, Rusted Root, Stevie Nicks...this new one will suck I'm sure.
That is an epic song, and yes, the whole soundtrack is good.
Yep Just like Top Gun! The Maverick movie soundtrack sucked @@James-if3kc
Classic EVH I sure hope the movie music is better than the annoying noises in this B grade trailer.....
Van Halen’s Humans Being was 🌪️🌪️🌪️
This won't even come close to being as iconic as the original.
Nope.
Facts!
the trailer looks like a cheap fan fiction movie
Yeah I wondered at first if it was real.@@filipdudek5092
@@filipdudek5092 Yes, exactly! It's like someone came up with a parody trailer for a sequel but nope.. It's completely real. Hollywood needs to stop with this crappy nostalgia bait. There are millions of stories out of there just waiting to become films, stop with this crap.
