Amazing video as always John! I would LOVE to see a “basics of cooking/baking” series from you. Im only 21 yrs old and everything I’ve learned about cooking has been from your channel and your book, so I think it would be a really cool idea to sum up different things like basic knife skills, how to sauté, how to marinate, etc. in a series for some of the younger people who watch you! Just an idea :)❤
Well, I have to say, you picked the perfect chef to learn from. Keep turning out these delicious recipes. I’m 67 and his cooking skills are top notch and I’m relearning some new ways of cooking older recipes, too. There is another channel that I follow that has great recipes that are wonderful, too. youtube.com/@WyseGuide
He is the best teacher on the internet. Everything is delicious and if I have any doubts about a recipe from his amazing book, I can usually find a video to follow or, at least, a video that will coach me through a particular step. Love this man!
Amazing stuff brother just a quick tip for everyone. It is a little harder to remove based on the temperature of the shrimp but there is a digestive track along the front underside as well If you wish to remove it.
"5 or so garlic" chop 10! Yes please! I clean the underneath too. Dont know what that part is, but it has to go. Lol another amazing recipe. Thank you John!
Saw this video just before I started to make shrimp and grits. Wow, these spices really took that dish up a notch or two. Thanks for your videos. I learn so much.
im VERY new to cooking and dont know half the basics of things. i used your video/recipe for my first time making shrimp and BOY WAS IT GOOD. my friends that i served loved it and were sad when it was all gone. definitely gonna save this one to my new recipe storage 😁
my dream is to win a contest where you get to join John at his kitchen island while we sip a glass of wine while he cooks something delicious... like this shrimp! thank you, John, for another awesome looking recipe, can't wait to try it out
Wonderful John as always! You seem so easy to talk to and get along with. Even with all the nice things and all the wonderful people that God has blessed you with to have in your life as you live your life, you just seem to be and remain so humble, grateful, and appreciative. I would love it if you could add bloopers at the end of your videos. They're always so fun to watch. And...I'd love to see more videos of you and your family cooking together. Those videos are always so fun to watch as well. Thanks for the amazingly entertaining videos, the time you spend creating them, the wonderful recipes, and that beautiful smile.
This was the most delicious fucking shrimp i’ve ever had in my life, i used less oil (fewer calories) and used chili powder instead. I don’t ever comment on videos but this deserves it. Thank you preppy kitchen.
Made these, they taste so dang good id make them again. I did add herbs and onion and garlic powder and chicken powder and it makes the recipe even better than it already is.
I love your videos John! As an older person who is leaving can food & making my own, you have not only made me a better cook, but oh my gosh your recipes are the best! 😋 I have tried some others from social media only to have to throw it all out because it was absolutely disgusting! 🤢 That cost money. 💰 Your recipes are right ON THE MONEY! I haven’t gotten your cookbook yet. I’m hoping Santa will send to me this year!😃
Oh my gosh!!!! I love your videos ❤️ you certainly have taught me a lot in the kitchen and there's such a difference. Thank you John for sharing your recipe videos. You're the OG in the kitchen 🫶
Being Asian, it’s neat seeing how other prep shrimp. Super clean. We leave everything on, even the head. After cooking we love sucking out the brains… so much flavor😂
What a coincidence that earlier today I was watching your Shrimp Tacos video because I'm planning on making some tomorrow, and then see you recently posted this!
Chef John! Can you make a video of your awesome spice drawer! Not only it has the variety, but the organization is superb! Are these in alphabetical order? Allspice, Basil, Cumin..... !!!!! just curious!
OMG!! Your Kitchen, that stove, your spice drawer, Lol 😆I know this recipe has to be fire just by looking at it. Thank you. I will attempt this tomorrow. Are you a Chef? Goodness!
I've been watching your videos for quite some time and have made many of your food recipes, including the pastries of course. 😊 Everything comes out delicious! I love all your video's. Please keep them coming.
That whole pan is about one serving for me. The rest of you can have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Also, remove the tails before cooking so when it comes to eating, you can wolf down one after the other with a fork. Supper time.
When did your kids turn 6 years old? Wow, does time go by fast. Wish we could see an update on them. Precious souls. Before you know it, you’ll be going to their graduations. 😳 your spice drawer is to die for. Heck, your whole kitchen is! Could you do an update on your garden?
It's Fiery!😅 Thank you for the recipe! First time, trying it today❤ It's delicious but 🔥 I like sweet, if you have a receipe on how to make shrimp that is sweet or advice for me, that would be great! My dad will like it though, because he likes Spicy food! Though the top of his head which is bald starts dripping down, with sweat!😂 My mom and I start laughing when we go out to eat, especially at Rainforest he likes the shrimp jumbolaya.
Hello John, why on earth would people leave the tails on (except for shrimp cocktail, when you are dipping)? There's nothing more disgusting than, in a fancy restaurant, having to remove the tails, or, if you have kids, having them getting their fingers all greasy and saucy. I remove the tails as a courtesy to my family and guests, and save the shells to make broth when I make paella or risotto. But your recipe is wonderful! I love the addition of the lemon zest and juice. I also add a little hot sauce (my favorite brand is Cajun Sunshine) and serve the shrimp with baguette slices for dipping in the sauce. Yum! Thanks for the recipe!
Have you used supermarket, farm raised shrimp? That’s what I get. When it was available I bought Geisha brand but I only see Stop & Shop brand now, not as good. You take a chance, I’ve had ok, low in flavor to AMONiA shrimp 🤮. Shrimp scampi, almost minus wine. I love the color with the good Paprika. Thanks, John, this is a keeper!
Maybe I’m doing something wrong. When adding the garlic covered shrimp to the oil in a “medium high” pan the garlic immediately starts to burn. I’m used to adding the garlic and butter last.
I'm a professional chef and I've got to tell you this is probably the best instructional video on cooking shrimp that I've ever seen.
I agree, I just made this today and let me tell you, I don't think it could have went smoother or tasted any better.
I am a professional cat and I agree
I identify as a male and I agree Wait…I am a male. Duh. All of John’s videos are very well done!❤

AND HE HAS A WHOLE DRAWER OF SPRINKLES TOO
I cooked this for my husband yesterday, and he really liked it. ❤😊
Excellent recipe. I do similar methods, but I believe lemon zest makes it super delicious! I will do that from now! Thanks for variety!
Amazing stuff brother just a quick tip for everyone. It is a little harder to remove based on the temperature of the shrimp but there is a digestive track along the front underside as well If you wish to remove it.
I typically avoid cooking shrimp because I’m just so bad at it. I made your recipe last night and OMG it was so bomb and so easy. Thanks John ❤

I made it Asian style with sesame seeds and sirarcha sauce kind of chipotle style with rice and beans, it was so good. garlic unites cultures
