  • Follow along on this video as we show how to install a Detroit Speed & Engineering QUADRALINK REAR SUSPENSION kit on the 1969 Pontiac Firebird in the shop. This car that doesn't have any of the rear sheet metal on it making the installation a little bit easier to see and explain. This kit is good for a 1967-1969 Pontiac Firebirds and Chevy Camaros in the F-body line. I also install the DSE trunk closeout brackets that give additional exhaust clearance around the fuel tank since mini tubs were installed on this car along with the Quadralink kit.

    Awesomeness!! The beauty of this build is its visually documented and nothing is skimped on. I think the value of the car when finished will be up there too. Thanks Rick.

    Thanks man just listening to you and watching how you modify and support is teaching me a lot. I have a 74 Camaro that I've been working on for a couple years. I know I can't get on it too hard because everybody says you'll twist it so I want to put a real cage in itand frame rails. I cut out the floor plan to drop in the fuel cell. It already had a big old rust hole in it after watching this I'm going to modify it strengthen it up. Thanks again.

    I agree.......... triple check everything. It only takes twice as long to triple check stuff. Funny sometimes what you find the third check. Just like stuff you can't quite get in your head at the end of a long day, the next morning is a simple solution. Nice work and great information on building any car.

    Nice job! I did all these installs on my 68 Camaro after the quarters and the way you are doing it looks way better, easier access.
    I’m about to do the fuel pump access panel that Detroit Speed has that is also high quality , that would also be easier for you before you close those in those quarters, great planning , looking forward to your next videos.

    • @carthageclassiccars
      @carthageclassiccars  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think I am going to add the fuel pump access panel. Is there a reason you need the fuel pump access panel besides to access to it without dropping the fuel tank? Do you plan on accessing the fuel pump that much? I see a lot of guys installing them but I figured I don't think I need that.

    you have some great content for DIY guys trying to do real restoration. The problem is, that your subscriptions are really low, even after many projects and massive amounts of recorded footage. So the solution is to put together a single car start to finish restoration video. Take all the footage from one car and only put the work bits on, no talking, and just let the work do the talking. If you don't have time to do it, find someone who can. The results have been great on other work-based channels. All timelapse is great. It is pure entertainment for the guys that just want the satisfaction without all the detailed descriptions. One or two of those videos and you will see a jump in views and subs.

    • @carthageclassiccars
      @carthageclassiccars  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks a lot and you are 100% right on your advice. I will try and maybe take some time and try that on one of the projects in the shop that I don't plan on doing a full build on in detail. I do mostly focus on just the guys building themselves and the entertainment value for others is hard to follow. Thank you for the feedback and advice!

  • @TheLooper0
    @TheLooper0 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    No, getting to the fuel pump is the main reason but if you think how much trouble it would be to have to drain the tank and drop it when you do need to get to it, but to each his own, not really necessary .

    • @carthageclassiccars
      @carthageclassiccars  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cool thanks, I think I might leave that out hopefully banking if I do an in tank pump it doesn't mess up. Famous last words and I might regret that decision down the road

    What id the car was backhalfed and the stock floor is gone?

    • @carthageclassiccars
      @carthageclassiccars  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the car is backhalfed and no stock floor, if you wanted the detroit speed quadralink I would recommend putting in the factory floor, frame rails and everything else back in the car. If you don't do that I would stick with the back half 4 link assuming thats already in the car.
