  • This video was requested by a subscriber. I compare the Convoy S2+ with CSLNM1.TG and the Wurkkos FC12 with SFT40.
Apologies for the unfocused beamshots, I forgot to manually focus, but it's still good enough to tell what's going on.

ordered my S2+ CSLNM1a couple days ago so it's really cool to see beam shots and how well it endures before ramping down. Also got a S2+ copper in SFT40 and 915a and I'm really looking forward to trying/comparing all the emitters (thanks to convoy's low pricing). Next up I really want to try a SST20 and SST40.
Once I find my favourite emitter, I'll get it in a S6 as apparently it has a slightly deeper reflector for more throw (love throwers).
Thanks for the tinker tech recommendation, picked up a Samsung 30Q and 35E to test out once the lights arrive (hopefully they won't take too long).
Keep up the awesome work, you have made diving into Convoy a much less daunting process than when I was looking at all the options to begin with👍

Hi Patrick, I'm glad these videos have made it easier for you to work out what to get etc. Convoy lights are great for trying out different LED configuration and making custom lights, modding them on the cheap. Thanks for your support !

You're fortunate to have bought an earlier version of the FC12, Darren. While it's not exactly making it to the news headlines, Wurkkos did a sloppy job when it revamped the later production units with the Tactical mode instead of the smooth ramping mode. The current batches with the non-ramping UI have this driver bug that causes the flashlight to randomly brick, until the side switch is depressed for a few seconds while the tail switch is depressed to complete the circuit.
I've read that Wurkkos doesn't want to admit this as it probably didn't want to deal with a messy and massive product recall. 🔦😠 Personally I've experienced this freeze about six or seven times. Mashing the tail switch may trigger this problem while the light is set to the low output (it only has Low/Med/Hi, not inclusive of Turbo) and it doesn't happen all the time. I'm still trying to recreate the situation that causes the driver to temporarily jam without much success. 😞
Nevertheless, having the new FC12 fail to shine when you want expect it to (like in an emergency situation) doesn't exactly make it a reliable torch. Receiving an FC12 with a lemon of a tail switch mechanism is one thing, but saddled with a buggy driver firmware is another thing altogether. Even the Anduril 2 based flashlights have never failed me, unless I had inadvertently put in them in momentary mode (5C) with no way to exit, except to reset the flashlight.
I'll leave the FC12 behind and take along my bigger TD04 if I wanted 100% reliability all the time. 🤔

Oh damn, I didn't realise there were issues with their current version. I used to have two but gave one away. Both still going strong. I carry around convoy lights most often :D

More great beam comparison shots, thank you. Its clear I need to get my hands on the new FC12 wit the SFT40 LED, nice little thrower.

Glad it was helpful! Yeah, the FC12 is just an all round great package for what you pay. It's as close to tactical you can get for a budget price.

I love the fc12, it’s one of the best reasonably priced and sized edc lights and it looks fantastic imo. The s2+ is also great and like you showed, the runtime with the osram emitters is really good. The s2+ in mao finish with the 18350 tube is also a great looking light, the black version does look a bit generic but nothing wrong with that either. It’s definitely a great time to be a flashlight enthusiast.
Did you see the recent video from marc gossling modding his wuben x1 from the 70.2 to the 70.3 hi emitters? I know you really like your x1 and that looks like an awesome mod.

Hi Thomas, it bewilders me how these companies can make any money putting together these light..for the price of lunch over here. Yes I saw Marc's video, that would be a great mod to increase the throw of the light. However I am happy with how mine performs as a floody pocket rocket.

Is the fc12 silver in color or gun metal grey?

It's 'champagne' colour - I'd say a bit more silverish.

Will fc12 cross compatible with s2+ 18350 tube?it will be great having shorter battery option and having in body charger

I don't have one of those but I think it would be. Because the tailcap of the FC12 fits on an S2+

The SFT40 is pretty good on the S2+ for the size
