This was one of my favorite scenes of ROTS, but I felt cheated with the way Mace and Palpatine fought. Then I saw the deleted scene of how it was meant to go down and I got even more upset! They should've left the fight scene with the stunt doubles, it would have made the movie that much more epic as it was pretty much the end of the Republic and the Jedi era. It should've went down in a blaze of glory!

Samuel L Jackson did and Nick Gillard said that he did the fight movements really well. If both actors had perfected it, this probably could've been top 3 lightsaber fight in the original 6 movies.
Every time i think any how quickly the 3 masters were dispatcher, I just think to myself "were y'all really needed here? I feel like Mace could went solo and achieved the same result with 3 lives spared."

People who claim that Sidious was toying with Windu and deliberately threw the fight are probably right, but they overlook the other side of that coin - that Windu at the same time was not trying to kill Sidious during the duel, only to disarm and apprehend him. He only intended to kill Sidious after Sidious unleashed his Force lightning on him, during which time Windu realized Sidious was far too powerful (both politically and with the Force) and dangerous to keep alive.
While I could see Sidious toying with lots of Jedi, I don't think he toyed with Mace. I think he underestimated Mace and Vapaad and ironically, had Anakin not arrived, Mace probably would have killed him then and there. It does make you wonder why the Force even needed a "Chosen One." That said, Mace was right. Anakin was indeed Sidious's shatterpoint, it just took 20 years for it to come to fruition.

Its all bs Palpatine is good damn good but he had no true guaranteed way first to guarantee Anakin makes it in time at all, and second to guarantee he chooses him over Windu and the jedi order itself in the end, even without I believe Lucas on record official confirmation right? even without that though I have zero doubt of the true context of this fight and that Windu had flat out defeated in an epic legendary duel arguably the most dangerous and powerful dark side force user/Sith Lord in could be 500 could be 1000+ years! Windu was a mere seconds away from being the literal Legendary/hero of the entire galaxy and the man who single handily not only prevented the galaxy from being turned into an empire under a sith lord, but protected the entire jedi order Itself from, absolute total unconditional annihilation/purging. It is just so dang tragic and such a absurdly important moment in that universes history that the moment cannot be under or overstated. he beat him fair and square and Palpatine's knew it to.

The Chancellor's office is located in the Republic Executive complex, which is the domed building in front of the mushroom shaped Senate building. Well that's an alternative to this fight scene which is much more cooler as they use other actors for the fight scenes so the fight looks much better and Palpatine looks much more formidable while dueling leading the easy defeat of the other Jedi Masters. You should search it up I promise it exists. The only reason the fight wasn't in the final product of Episode 3 was because George Lucas wanted the actual actors of the characters to fight instead changing the fight to what we ended up getting

The one thing I disliked about the novelization here was that we did not get a look into Palpatine's mind...I would really like to know what his honest asseement of Vaapad was! The very Republic he fought for with his life an fallen by his mistake in his duel with Palpatine. This is what most of us don't get! The moment, Anakin came into that room. It took away Mace concentration and focus on Palpatine. If Anakin doesn't show up, Mace was would have never got off balance or let up against Palpatine. Mace Vaapad and shatterpoint were the tipping point in Mace favor! Anakin showing up, it threw everything off. He would never asked Anakin to destroy Palpatine because, it was your destiny! Anakin would have fulfilled his destiny by telling Mace, Palpatine was the Sith Lord which would have led to the defeat of Palpatine. The Jedi would have changed severely if Mace had struck down Palpatine. How could they not? The Sith and Palpatine came to power right under their noses. Who to say, there wasn't others out their affiliated with Palpatine as plan B, C and etc?

He went _out_ the window with a blast of Force lighting! *He lost in every way it is possible to lose!* He was controlled by Sidious completely. Almost every step Window made, was ordained by Palpatine. Mace Windu was the perfect puppet to push Anakin over the edge. And he played his part brilliantly.
I still wonder how the emperor could lose this battle, after all it was a draw between him and yoda, and was yoda not the strongest of all jedi? this kind of confused me about the power of both the emperor and yoda.
Palpatine probably enjoyed having all that space and room to fling stuff at Yoda and mess with environment, plus hundreds of clones and guards on their way to back him up etc he was able to fight dirty Mace and crew cornered him in his office without backup, and there's nothing in that room to help him really when Mace is tapping into darkside and focused as hell until sandwalker shows up I always saw Mace and Yoda as equals, from them being the only ones in the series to eat force lightning for breakfast and actually survive it 😂🎉
Mace wasnt anywhere as powerful as either Sidious or Yoda but he was using Sidious's power against him So for Palpatine it was like fighting himself and Mace Windu at once, Vaapad was just that strong
What's really amazing about this to- well one of what like 15 absurdly legendary moments that changed history forever all in the span of a single night- is that Mace Windu was literally seconds away from becoming the biggest modern day living legend among Jedi and beyond them even, the biggest legendary hero of the present time/era, and a winner in a epic once every who knows 500-1000+ years ish type of duel/1 vs 1 battle/fight against the single most powerfull ith Lord in generations arguably/probably, and Windu was seconds away from not only accomplishing and becoming all of these amazing heroic legendary admirable traits and single handily saving the entire Republic and the entire Jedi order as a whole, seconds away! I really believe aside from Anakin young prime handsome confident powerful heck pre prime even youthful agile fast etc aside from all of those traits and qualities of him being literally burned away in a volcanic inferno destroying his mind soul and body- 2nd after only that the tragedy of Mace Windu being so so sooooooooooooo close to becoming the single greatest living legend/hero of the modern times across the galaxy to have technically won the duel against the most difficult opponent humanly and even abnormally /sub humanly possible and being mere seconds away from total objective undeniable can tbe undone pure absolute victory! only for it to be sliced away and him with no realization it was coming likely to have it all crash down ironically likewise in a matter of mere seconds! I mean to be that dang close so so soooooo absurdly close to absolute total objective heroic legendary victory against evil and the most powerful nemesis possible in the galaxy of the time, and then to have it all shattered and torn and ripped and of course"slced" away in a matter of seconds by a fellow jedi Knight who he just moments before due to Annakin telling and confiding in him immediately about Palpatine's true identity, and likely finally believing that Anakin was indeed a true Jedi and potential soon to be lifelong friend fellow Jedi master and etc- for him to be the one that ends all of that and takes all of that from Windu in heck less then 5-8 seconds is undeniably one ogf the most tragic moments and outcomes in modern cinema/general sci fi/ and obviously genera; star wars history straight up. Its just so insane to see it happen and realize just how important this one single moment is for all of galactic history literally the fate of the entire galaxy and beyond in a single Man a single Jedis hands and he had it won he had won only to have it stolen and sliced and taken away just indescribably tragic I really believe close not quite equal but pretty damn close very very close to as tragic as what happened to Anakin after the Kenobi duel/fight.
There is no way Mace could have won this fight no matter what advantages or training he had. Like Yoda the best he could have hoped for was a draw. Only the Chosen One could have destroyed the Sith and like it or not Anakin was the only candidate the Jedi knew of. If Anakin had not been there Sidious would not have held back. It's likely Anakin's eventual presence prolonged Windu's life for a few moments as there were points in the duel where Sidious could have dispatched him swiftly but he was waiting for better timing.
Windu defeated Sidious in lightsaber combat and would have killed him if that whinny little bitch traitor Anakin didn't betray him and the whole galaxy. It would have been perfect if Mace would have seen it coming and cut off Anakin's arm as he swung down to also take off Sidious head. Then use the force to throw Anakin across the room knocking him out. Then Anakin would be kicked out of the Jedi order and he and Padme would have had their twins and lived out their lives on Naboo. That is how the story should have gone.

Mace Windu was the perfect puppet to push Anakin over the edge. And he played his part brilliantly.

I still wonder how the emperor could lose this battle, after all it was a draw between him and yoda, and was yoda not the strongest of all jedi? this kind of confused me about the power of both the emperor and yoda.
Palpatine probably enjoyed having all that space and room to fling stuff at Yoda and mess with environment, plus hundreds of clones and guards on their way to back him up etc he was able to fight dirty
Mace and crew cornered him in his office without backup, and there's nothing in that room to help him really when Mace is tapping into darkside and focused as hell until sandwalker shows up
I always saw Mace and Yoda as equals, from them being the only ones in the series to eat force lightning for breakfast and actually survive it 😂🎉
If you're a Yoda fan, I would take the fact that Palp immediately tried to leave the room when he showed up. When Mace showed up he wanted the smoke 😂

Mace wasnt anywhere as powerful as either Sidious or Yoda but he was using Sidious's power against him
So for Palpatine it was like fighting himself and Mace Windu at once, Vaapad was just that strong

What's really amazing about this to- well one of what like 15 absurdly legendary moments that changed history forever all in the span of a single night- is that Mace Windu was literally seconds away from becoming the biggest modern day living legend among Jedi and beyond them even, the biggest legendary hero of the present time/era, and a winner in a epic once every who knows 500-1000+ years ish type of duel/1 vs 1 battle/fight against the single most powerfull ith Lord in generations arguably/probably, and Windu was seconds away from not only accomplishing and becoming all of these amazing heroic legendary admirable traits and single handily saving the entire Republic and the entire Jedi order as a whole, seconds away! I really believe aside from Anakin young prime handsome confident powerful heck pre prime even youthful agile fast etc aside from all of those traits and qualities of him being literally burned away in a volcanic inferno destroying his mind soul and body- 2nd after only that the tragedy of Mace Windu being so so sooooooooooooo close to becoming the single greatest living legend/hero of the modern times across the galaxy to have technically won the duel against the most difficult opponent humanly and even abnormally /sub humanly possible and being mere seconds away from total objective undeniable can tbe undone pure absolute victory! only for it to be sliced away and him with no realization it was coming likely to have it all crash down ironically likewise in a matter of mere seconds! I mean to be that dang close so so soooooo absurdly close to absolute total objective heroic legendary victory against evil and the most powerful nemesis possible in the galaxy of the time, and then to have it all shattered and torn and ripped and of course"slced" away in a matter of seconds by a fellow jedi Knight who he just moments before due to Annakin telling and confiding in him immediately about Palpatine's true identity, and likely finally believing that Anakin was indeed a true Jedi and potential soon to be lifelong friend fellow Jedi master and etc- for him to be the one that ends all of that and takes all of that from Windu in heck less then 5-8 seconds is undeniably one ogf the most tragic moments and outcomes in modern cinema/general sci fi/ and obviously genera; star wars history straight up. Its just so insane to see it happen and realize just how important this one single moment is for all of galactic history literally the fate of the entire galaxy and beyond in a single Man a single Jedis hands and he had it won he had won only to have it stolen and sliced and taken away just indescribably tragic I really believe close not quite equal but pretty damn close very very close to as tragic as what happened to Anakin after the Kenobi duel/fight.
There is no way Mace could have won this fight no matter what advantages or training he had. Like Yoda the best he could have hoped for was a draw. Only the Chosen One could have destroyed the Sith and like it or not Anakin was the only candidate the Jedi knew of. If Anakin had not been there Sidious would not have held back. It's likely Anakin's eventual presence prolonged Windu's life for a few moments as there were points in the duel where Sidious could have dispatched him swiftly but he was waiting for better timing.

Windu defeated Sidious in lightsaber combat and would have killed him if that whinny little bitch traitor Anakin didn't betray him and the whole galaxy. It would have been perfect if Mace would have seen it coming and cut off Anakin's arm as he swung down to also take off Sidious head. Then use the force to throw Anakin across the room knocking him out. Then Anakin would be kicked out of the Jedi order and he and Padme would have had their twins and lived out their lives on Naboo. That is how the story should have gone.
