It's because he fucks up the timing and doesn't play like the album version. People likes shiting on him even more since that napster thing.You liking Metallicas drums depends on how you like to hear drums on a song .You said double bass but that doesn't says too much. Lars used triplets in kill em all than he started using double kick in ride the lightning.Lars *terrible double kick* if ı understood you correctly It's literally his playing style. Just like Joey jordison, dave Lombardo and etc. Every drummer has an unique style. Lars didnt ruin in fact his drumming made Metallica what they were today.its a part of Metallica. And if Lars wasnt their drummer then Metallica wouldnt be Metallica we know today lol. İf you don't like his style then i get İt. Because its personal after all. But İf We Are speaking on technical terms.... He is not a bad drummer lol. He is not the best but he is fine.

      The beat isn't too different besides the hertas in the bass drum. Otherwise, it's a 4/4 groove with a resolving foot pattern over three bars

      @@dimitripapadinikolaus To my understanding, he was fired, but it's difficult to say for sure without knowing the whole story. Though I think that the motorcycle accident Chris was involved in back in 2017 is one of the big factors behind it, since he wasn't able to tour with the band. For all we know, it was a mutual agreement, but the official statement on LoG's FB page tells another story as far as I'm concerned.

    Ahhhh man...great drumming but I was actually expecting 11 different styles here! We basically on had 3 rock/metal/thrash but only one really...all metal! Was expecting jazz/blues/metal/rockabilly/pop...should work on that one next!

      Nah man it's more like when a band had several drummers over the years playing in the style that the band's music requires/ is known for. Then he'll put the best known drummer next to it. Like when he put Rudd and McBrain although both of their bands had many drummers before them.

    I once saw Adrian Erlandsson play an entire hour long "The Haunted" set and then 10 minutes later a 90 minute "At The Gates" set. He looked like he was going to die the whole time but he didn't miss a single fucking beat.
    Guy is an absolute machine.

      I don't think people pay as much attention to Danny as they think they do - part of the reason why Tool is so successful is that, in spite of being pretty heavy prog, they still break into 4/4 jams in a LOT of their songs. Kinda like what Nine Inch Nails is to industrial.

    Could easily take a whole version of this, this is quite the jam. I usually quite enjoy when the rhythm guitar and percussion are locked in on those kicks but the variety of all the styles, as disparate as they may be, really give the song a more flowing, maybe even quasi-narrative, structure that really sounds good. Fantastic work!
