Joey is probably one of my all time favourite drummers ever. He is so amazing and inspiring. I learned how to play Wait and Bleed on the drums, and I'm hoping I can learn to play Eyeless next. RIP Joey, my drum god
I’m definitely not a drummer at all so I’m not talking shit at all, just gonna point out that in Eyeless when he hits the snare twice in quick succession he does it again right after. It’s around the 0:17 mark of your video. Either way, badass!
I didn’t know a single THING about JJ until a few days ago. I grew up as an ‘80’s thrash diehard and looked at “nu metal” as “not good enough”. It is very clear I didn’t give SK a close enough look. I lumped in SK with bands like Static-X, Coal Chamber, MManson etc. The only ‘90’s metal bands I was diwn with were Fear Factory, Sepultura (both of which are really late 80’s), Dimmu Borgir, Machine Head, Meshuggah, bands that had extreme technical chops (in my narrow-minded opinion at the time). Boy was I wrong about SK, though. As for Mr. Jordison, rest his soul, what an incredibly fan-friendly scholar and gentleman he was. I’ve done a deep-dive on him and am amazed at how humble, genuine, and authentically caring he was to his fans. He was truly a sweet gentleman and I am so sad for his family, friends, and LEGION of fans. Great tribute, Samus (Metroid fan? Love the name). Sub’d 🤘
Give Static-X another chance homie. They’re not everyone’s thing, but IMO they’re the perfect example of sometimes less is more. Wayne wanted to create groovy, danceable metal and he succeeded. The one I linked is the song I’d say that goes the hardest by them. The drums fucking RIP th-cam.com/video/JZ6na9UWdpg/w-d-xo.html
@@ya-boy-joshy He didn't just have speed. He technicality, control, dynamics, and many more attributes in his drumming. He literally bought some techniques and styles of drumming in Slipknot's genre from other genre's of metal that no one else (or very few) did at the time. This closed that gap between sub-genres in metal and in my opinion, opened up many doors and pathways for other bands to follow. You're comment of "He just has speed" really screams, I know nothing about drums, music and definitely don't play drums (or any instrument). Also, why do you have to be so disrespectful man? This community is about supporting each other, especially when someone passes away (no matter how famous they are). Don't be so hateful. We don't need that crap here.

Joey is a true legend RIP. I'm happy to see you play some of his work in his Honor.
RIP to one legendary and almighty drummer, aka Joey Jordison.
Both Eeyore and Get This, are massively under appreciated! Brilliant tracks and super aggressive drumming. Great musician and responsible for getting Slipknot to where they are. Without him and Clown, the band would never have gotten to the level they now find themselves. Joey, is a genuine rock legend
The Blister Exists is giving me gojira vibes. Love you vids samus
Joey is probably one of my all time favourite drummers ever. He is so amazing and inspiring. I learned how to play Wait and Bleed on the drums, and I'm hoping I can learn to play Eyeless next. RIP Joey, my drum god
LOVE the Roadrunner United mention. Incredible album. A largely forgot masterpiece imo.
Sub’d 🤘
Fuckin-A.... great read.
i warms my hear when ppl discover joey and share about it! ❤
samus is his actual name
@@6.thedollar415 soooooo..... metroid fan by default. Haha
Give Static-X another chance homie. They’re not everyone’s thing, but IMO they’re the perfect example of sometimes less is more. Wayne wanted to create groovy, danceable metal and he succeeded. The one I linked is the song I’d say that goes the hardest by them. The drums fucking RIP

66Samus has such an authentic personality I sometimes forget he is a kick ass drummer. That's just a bonus.
Thank you, no seriously thank you for doing my favorite drummer Justice!!!
The world won’t be the same without him. R.I.P. Joey.
It will
he was an overrated hack
@@ya-boy-joshy E D G Y af, bro why are you here if you can’t be respectful
@@tabsss9520 cause its true. lmao Joey was a shit drummer all he had was speed
We don't need that crap here.
after almost 17 years of playing the drums i can whole heartily say, i will never be able play like this. but you know what? i'm fine with that 😂 awesome playing, i subbed
Honerable Mention:
That Drum fill in “Only One” before the final chorus.
That whole song has great drumming.
so dope that you added annihilation into the list! joey was my idol as a drummer kid growing up. RIP bud.
F yeah brother this was SO good, I miss Joey a lot but I try to think not that I'm sad he's dead but I'M GLAD HE'S LIVED. And that I'VE lived during the same time as such an iconic drummer.
That part in The Blister Exists is my favorite beat Joey ever did. Something about it, I just love.
Also... Thanks for including Roadrunner United! I feel that project isn't talked about enough.
Same here
Hearing eyeless and surfacing like this is a reminder of how awesome knots debut album was!
Its one of my top 5 albums regardless of genre because when I first played it top to bottom I had never heard anything like it, the bombastic sound of a 9 man band, scratching, sampling and Corey's voice was amazing.
It was so intense and tribal for example the end of (sic) when their all screaming sic!
As a guitarist, Slipknot was probably the first band that I listened to almost entirely for the drums. The first time I put in their 1st album and (sic) came on, I was blown the motherfuck away. I was like, "How the fuck is he even doing any of that, much less all of it at once?!"
When I was a teenager, Joey was always the drummer I'd pick when me and my friends would make fantasy band drafts.
I rewatch this like once a week because it keeps coming up in my suggested and I appreciate it more every time.
R.I.P. to the King. Joey will always be our #1. ❤
Joey was a blessing for the metal world...
I know nothing about drums, yet I'm sat here singing along to all these beats. Epic. Rip joey 🤟
Who else literally heard "here comes the pain" at 2:29

God I love those roadrunner tracks 🤌
