Poisoned, shot, and drowned, I love how they actually worked Yusipov's account of his death into the scene around the fight! His dance-fighting was beautiful, my one critique was that the 1812 Overture felt unearned at this point and I'd have rather something like the Russian dance from Nutcracker or Vysotsky's Capricious Horses, or something else dramatically Russian and balletic playing.
You're totally right, or just play the remixed version of Rasputin. I feel like although 1812 overture is great, it's been a bit overused in Hollywood.
The Overture was absolutey beautiful, only wish they didnt have to stretch it at the end... Russian Dance might have been a good option too, but its just too short. Still happy to hear Tchaikovsky in a mainstream film like this one.
The only thing true about that movie is that the British secret service had something to do with Rasputin's death. Because Rasputin had an influence on the czar's wife and was against the war, envious and nationalistic nobles and members of the duma, and the British secret service conspired against him. Felix Felixovich Yusopov lured him into his house. There he was brutally beaten up and shot by the cowardly and sneaky conspirators.
Rasputin REALLY should have been the main villain. He was fascinating to watch whenever he was on screen. I don't even remember the name of the main villain. Even when they revealed who he was, I had no idea who they were referring to until they did the flashback.
The main villain was just a generic big bad that plagues most major modern cinema. While Rasputin literally stole the show every seen he was was in, and was considerably more intimidating. They even advertised him as the main villain in the films trailers. Just for him to be a henchmen who gets killed off in the first third of the movie…….
I kept thinking the main villain was somehow going to be David Tennant because of much the scottish accent sounded so similar to his own voice in tone and pitch. Actually David Tennant being the main villain would've been a major upgrade.
I know I'm late, but my working theory is that Rasputin WAS meant to be the main villain. The whole first half of the movie is building up to the showdown between the two, the fight is incredible, and it resolves in a way fit for the end of a movie. However, due to Brad Allen passing away, R.I.P, they weren't able to get all of the scenes they needed for a full movie, and then moved on to the B-Plot of Conrad's death and the sacry evil guy. The whole second half of the movie felt rushed in my eyes, and I think that would explain why, they didn't have much time and needed to finish the movie on TOP of coming up with a new plot to pad out runtime. Sad to see it go this way but thankfully we still got to see this great character and amazing fight scene, even if it's short lived
What I love even more about Rasputin's dance/fighting is that the dance part uses traditional Russian folk dances, which surprisingly require male dancers to be solid/strong but graceful. All the jumps, spinning on the knees, dancing on the toes, and twirling are key examples.
@aleksandre tavartkiladze Hm, you're right. I just remember seeing people incorporate these moves into folk dances when I visited, so maybe the lines bled a little bit culturally.

@@joew9690 actually while the fighting wasn’t exactly a thing, pretty much all the events leading up to the US joining the war were accurate. The war did start after the Ferdinand’s driver made a wrong turn and got him killed, the Russians did pull out of the war, the Zimmerman telegram was indeed a thing and I wouldn’t be surprised if the US president was blackmailed at some point. And Ras did indeed get poisoned before being stabbed and then subsequently shot. So they got that right.
I don't get people's problems with this movie, I enjoyed it very much even more so than the previous Kingsman instalments, this fight sequence with Rasputin looks epic.
For me it felt like they tried to wrap two or three movies into one which is why the pacing was very much all over the place. I still liked the movie well enough. The cast was great all around, the action scenes were top notch as always when it comes to Kingsman, and it did leave me wanting to see more from these characters if they ever do a follow up after the sequel to The Golden Circle finally comes out. My one big complaint is the villain. Really just an "evil for evil's sake" type of character. His motivations felt very unclear and how he managed to amas such a Spectre level organisation genuinely boggles the mind. Rasputin was great though. It was also great to see a genuinely well written father/mentor in Ralph Feines' character, who's flawed but ultimately a good man trying to do what's right for his son. Something of a rarity in modern Hollywood films these days.
@@Skulduggery_TV he wasn’t evil just to be evil, he was a Scottish man who was furious over England stealing their land, food, and leaving their people to die. That’s a good enough reason tbh.
I love how the movie as a whole, incorporated the historical events. It integrated the historical events so well into an otherwise fantastical storyline. I feel like it paid more attention to history than most period films do
This fight scene is not only an incredible feat of film from the choreographer, the late and great Bradly James Allen, but for the actors Dijmon Hounsou and Rhys Ifans as well. Bradly James Allen was a stuntman and was trained personally by Jackie Chan himself. And if you know anything about Jackie Chan he is a grueling perfectionist and his style of fight scenes operates on a very specific, swift, and almost madcap rhythm. Not a lot of actors are able to keep up with it. Plus Jackie Chan's style of choreography calls for actors actually getting hit with very few quick cuts to hide it. The fact that Dijmon and Rhys were able to pull it off so well speaks a great deal about their abilities. Also kudos to the camera crew for keeping everything fully in frame with wide shots and great lighting so we can actually see what's happening in the fight!
Bro, that was awesome! The choreographer needs an award for making this! I love how classical music is being played during this fight scene, which I feel like you rarely see happen. And I love how some of their moves are in synch to the music, including when Rasputin opens his mouth at 1:30, which makes it look like he's doing some sort of opera voice.

Excellent acting and choreography, the classical music and yelling and Rasputin's feral expressions. Looks like a good old action movie with modern twists to it, imma make sure to check this out when it hits the theaters over here
The fact that 2 guards tried killing rasputin by poison, he didnt die. Then they shot him and dumped him and freezing lake yet claimed to see him swim. Makes this scene kinda accurate
There's credability in the myth too based on biology. The poison was arsenic, which in high doses is fatal. However, the cake that it was baked in was poisoned BEFORE it was baked, the process losing some of it's potency. Being shot is also fatal, but falling into cold water causes the body to go into shock and slow the heartrate down, thus pumping less blood, this making his wounds not as dangerous as they looked. Rasputin wasn't a wizard, he just knew his biology.
While nothing can top the church fight or galahads vs whiskey, this scene still looks awesome. I don't know if the crew for the first two came back, but if not, I think we're still in good hands.
I normally don't watch new modern things but damn! this fight scene is amazing, you can see every move and there is so much energy, the camera work is amazing.
This scene was the pinnacle of an already great movie. Rasputin is written as such a great villain, one would not believe it's based on a real person. He just looks like a character written from scratch. Absolutely phenomenal work by everyone involved.
""This man's just got to go", declared his enemies But the ladies begged, "Don't you try to do it, please" No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms Though he was a brute, they just fell into his arms Then one night some men of higher standing Set a trap, they're not to blame "Come to visit us", they kept demanding And he really came Ra ra Rasputin Lover of the Russian queen They put some poison into his wine Ra ra Rasputin Russia's greatest love machine He drank it all and said, "I feel fine" Ra ra Rasputin Lover of the Russian queen They didn't quit, they wanted his head Ra ra Rasputin Russia's greatest love machine And so they shot him 'til he was dead"
I saw this fight scene as an ad before a video and watched the entire thing to find out what it was from and no name came up! I knew that had to be Rasputin because of that crazed look in his eyes. This scene is absolutely breathtaking and very well done. I hope it picked up a few awards.
One thing I like is once Rasputin grab that silver coverage off the table. He begin using it in some what of a fashion sword and buckler. Very interesting tactic he went with such a improvise item.
If you think that's Rasputin's fight moves are weird or inaccurate, when he says "time to dance" he really starts dancing. That's dancing moves from Georgian National Dance called "Khandjluri", word by word it means "with daggers"

This movie looks like a ton of fun!!!! We need more movies like this....energetic...not too serious...fun....awesome choreography! I'm a fan of the Kingsman!!!!!! Can't wait for this one and more!
no more cos Brad

And far from historical truth ...yeaaaahhhh
About that…
@@joew9690 actually while the fighting wasn’t exactly a thing, pretty much all the events leading up to the US joining the war were accurate.
@Texel76 he talks about actuall facts done in real life and they added in to a movie which nobody cares right?
When the fight is so good you forget who your rooting for
Rasputin?
That part...!
🤣 I was rooting for Rasputin too!
Ra Ra Ra-Rasputin....you know the rest.
The fight is inspired by Georgian choreography
I don't get people's problems with this movie, I enjoyed it very much even more so than the previous Kingsman instalments, this fight sequence with Rasputin looks epic.
i think the story felt a bit disjointed in the begining but the action scenes were outstanding
this and even the final sword fight too
For me it felt like they tried to wrap two or three movies into one which is why the pacing was very much all over the place.
I enjoyed the movie although the pace was slow at times and the dialogue awkward in certain moments
@@Skulduggery_TV he wasn’t evil just to be evil, he was a Scottish man who was furious over England stealing their land, food, and leaving their people to die. That’s a good enough reason tbh.
the themes were great in this movie.

👏🏽👏🏽💯💯
Brad Allen was the Choreographer for this Scene? Holy crap
That very famous piece of music is Tchaikovski's "1812 Overture"
It's Georgian dance 😉
💯💯👏🏽👏🏽
What a sick twisted crazy man!

This man is literally dancing...he ain't takin' them seriously...😂
This is one of the best if not the best fight sequence I’ve ever watched, choreography, music, swordplay...magnificent
I love the use of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture here as well as Rasputin doing some trepak ballet dance moves.

I think Orlando's limp was more psychological, Rasputin saw that and made Orlando believe it.
@@christophergirardi8145
Which would make a lot of sense IRL. Although not at all adressed in the film.
Orlando, suffered the wound at the same time as the death of his wife.
And he was struggling with a debilitating fear for the safety of his son, likely amped up by his guilt of not being able to save the wife.
Then the loss of his son, which broke him. And would probably have left him a listless drunk for the rest of his days, had Polly not given him some tough love.
So there was probably quite some unresolved emotional trauma there.
1:22 that’s so cool
Yeah i know is so sick that and all Thais moves

The Fight style is Georgian oldest fighting art, and it is based on Georgian national dance. The main Choreographer and stuntman is Georgian also, his full name is Lasha Mdzinarashvili.
"Alright, Mr. Rhys Ifans. We need you to play a crazy, ninja acrobat Rasputin who kicks the crap out of some dude with a dinner plate, while Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture plays in the background."
"...This is the best day of my life."
And a hand who sells his daughter to a king to start a civil war…
who the fuck choreographed that fight lol😂😂😂😂 so epic and crazy was well represented
Brad Allen did the action direction on all the Kingsmen movies. He also recently did the action direction for Shang Chi, but sadly he died before it released. The guy was a behind the scenes legend. We lost a huge talent :(

@@SSD_Penumbra still crazy
Damn! Rasputin's got some moves 😱
Great fight scene. Part fight, part folk dancing, part ballet. All performed with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture as background music.
no it wasn't
Considering rasputin did romance with so many women, what he said about his balls is very accurate.
Criminally underrated movie.
While nothing can top the church fight or galahads vs whiskey, this scene still looks awesome. I don't know if the crew for the first two came back, but if not, I think we're still in good hands.
I say this fight scene beats anything from the second film!

I normally don't watch new modern things but damn! this fight scene is amazing, you can see every move and there is so much energy, the camera work is amazing.
yes you do
This scene was the pinnacle of an already great movie. Rasputin is written as such a great villain, one would not believe it's based on a real person. He just looks like a character written from scratch. Absolutely phenomenal work by everyone involved.
whoever slapped 1812 overture on it should have a raise
""This man's just got to go", declared his enemies
But the ladies begged, "Don't you try to do it, please"

One thing I like is once Rasputin grab that silver coverage off the table. He begin using it in some what of a fashion sword and buckler. Very interesting tactic he went with such a improvise item.
"Well, thank God dinner is being served" is the most ridiculously dry English comeback in all of fictional history...
