Devaslanden meaning "Divided Lands" in a widely spoken language, the north being called Ankerland meaning"Land of Anguish" and the south Polkaavija meaning"Land of Music"

Great insights and inspiration for many young creators. Most people let their own insecurities stop them before they even start. You should add a course or two to your store.

Ah... my 'JP positive fix' - i spent too much time moving a lot of heavy snow this morning and now just eating pain killers and sitting on the couch - I love your videos - I make my 'living' now drawing and selling maps all over the world and you are part of the reason I can do this. Just sent a fantasy pirate map of Brisbane in the 1700's off to AUS. thanks - always a great boost to my day to get a new JP video to watch - always cheers me up

I cannot draw to save my life, but I took some help from this and another video of yours on maps and bam! Me and my wife have drawn ( a concept of ) our first map for one of our stories! Well, first part of it anyway. It's still incomplete and there's much more work to be done, but it's more a start than there ever has been. Thank you so much for this!

I watched two map making videos of yours last night, and at the end of the last one, I stopped watching videos, rummaged through my collection of unused journals, and drew a map.
What you said in this video is completely valid. I didn't even have a story or direction to what I was doing, but was able to just draw something that I ended up very pleased with (my wife really liked it too!)

This video got me to start drawing maps more. Thanks JP.
My favorite part of this video is at 5:00. There is a clear mistake with the bridge and the river and you don't even mention it. Why? Because it doesn't matter.
I find myself obsessing over small errors whenever I make anything, which keeps me from finishing it - and forget showing it to anyone else.
This whole map looks awesome. Your friends aren't going to care about mistakes, if they even notice them. They're more likely to be excited that you did something like this for the game.
And if they do care... get new friends LOL.

Here's an idea for the worldbuilding!
    THE CLEFTLANDS
These lands were once a single continent, that stretched from the frozen north, to the tropical south. However, the many nations of the continent could not live in peace - the northern kingdoms waged war with the southern city states for many centuries, and plunged the world into a dark age. The gods grew angry with the mortals who waged endless wars, so they sent the god of justice to put an end to the conflicts once and for all. The god of justice could not find a reasonable solution to the disputes, for they had grown too numerous, convoluted and intertwined with mutual faults, retributions and bad blood. So, he decided to sepparate them for good and sent his divine sword of justice to cleave the continent in twain - sepparating the northern from the southern lands. The lands split and earthquakes rumbled, awakening the fire of the earth deep within. A monstrous ravine of fire divided the continent, and the eastern and western seas rushed to fill in the gap - dowsing the subterranean fires and meeting in the middle. After the turmoil settled and the vapours cleared, a long strait remained, where the water boils to this day.
Hundreds of years later, the northern and the southern kingdoms are no longer at war and enjoy a fragile peace and growing trade among each other, across the western and eastern seas. However, no sailor has been known to attempt the Boiling Cleft for many decades, which is extremely perilous and trecherous, and some even say - populated by unspeakable monsters that lurk in the deep, and besotted with horrid predators that live on the crumbling cliffs around these forsaken lands.

I ask because my old set up for making math videos (an ancient webcam strapped to a microphone stand) is not working anymore. I'm looking for a camera set up that allows me to show an entire 8.5x11 inch sheet of paper (in portrait mode) while I solve the equation and talk.

      @@JPCoovert
This video ("I Made A Game!") doesn't have it, but since then all the videos so far have this background noise. Maybe it is because the volume capture is too high?
It is the kind of noise that younger people can hear. As time goes by everyone becomes less sensitive to certain frequencies of sound. So if you have some contact with someone younger you can ask them to help you test some settings on your microphone. Preferably with a headset. This way it is easier to notice.
If you want a more specific list:
"How To Make A Pixel Art World Map!"
"How To Write A Homebrew TTRPG Adventure!"
"How to Make Customized Hex Tiles!"
      "Worldbuilding with Hex Grid Maps!"
"How To Make A TTRPG Zine!"
"How to Draw A Detailed Dungeon Map (It's not hard!)" | *(Not so notable, but still there)*
"Is It Time To Stop Playing D&D?"
"How To Make A Fun One Shot TTRPG Adventure!"
"Making a One Page Dungeon - Free Download!"
"How to Make Dragons Even Cooler!" | *(Unlike the others, this is only a small cracking one. It still goes on throughout the video though)*
      "The Best D&D Gifts!"
"I'm Giving Away My Entire Shop!"
Apart from the one exception, they are all a continuous high pitch that stays throughout the entire video. Also, your intro has no such noise, since it is a separate video.

In as much time as they said I can't, they could have already laid out a map and be nearly done with it. Truly. JP is 100% on point here. My 3yr was drawing maps with some crayons right next to me years ago. This is not an isolating art direction. It is all inclusive. Any person with a surface and marking tool can map. Chaulk and stone, pen and paper, pasca markers and bristol board. The tools all meet the requirements. The rest is up to you. You can't do it if you never try to do it. No pressure of course. Its all what you want to do and get out of it. What are you mapping for I always say. You'll do great.
