    Brilliant! Started using the White Grand a couple of weeks ago, and I really like the sound in my in ear monitor, we’re still tweaking the house sound. More recently, added the reverb, and that was really a bonus in our space. Based on this video, I’ll get with our sound guy and talk about the Eq levels. We already have strong bass, so definitely not needed there. I’ll give the soft piano a try, I was using a different live setting for underplaying talking, but this sounds much better! Keep up the great hints!

    13:35, this where a lot keyboard players miss it, and I mean a lot, what he’s talking about here,
    It’s using the right chord progression, it’s knowing how to play these chords effectively not just majors, you have to incorporate minors, because it touches the soul realm, understanding when to use space between these chords to let it breathe out a mood and presence, this kind of anointed skill comes through the musicians diligence and understanding that every note struck is touching a nerve in someone’s spirit, you are just not going through the motions at this point, practicing alone with the Holy Spirit will bring out this skill, the space and breathing is a must, very few in the church have it, most players overplay, too busy, play over the speakers voice, being an anointed musician is being humble and knowing when to execute!
    Blessings.☝️

    I use a nord stage 3 HP 76 at my church, and the mane piano sound that I use on it, is the white grand. this has got to be my favorit piano sound that nord has right now. I also have been messing with a lot of EQ and effects to get it to sound good in both the front of house and my in ears. I layor synth pads and organs on top of it.

I'm involved in worship music as well and just bought the Nord Stage 3 and I'm finding that your videos are extremely helpful! After hearing your 'white grand' I'm going to follow your tutorial and substitute for the royal....could hear the significant difference from your youtubes...hands down, white grand is beautiful...and I can't wait to hear the string res!

    I roll off some bass on just about all the keyboard sounds on the Nord. I find the Nord sounds are all very full for solo piano playing, but in a group or other styles I find rolling off some bass helps a lot. I usually don't EQ in any highs, but when I want to a touch I will use the Bright option in the reverb section. As for my main choice of piano sound I like the Studio Grand 2 it has less bass, a lot of note definition, and shorter tail on the notes which helps keep things clean when playing fast. When I do want a big piano sound I will use the White Piano.

    Thanks much! So helpful! I bought a Nord piano 5 and play in church. I’m wishing I had sprung for the stage 3 because I use the pads and strings often and it seems that those sounds, and without much organ, is missing some options that I miss. May consider changing. I love the piano sounds on this piano 5, though!

    This all sounds great in stereo, but many churches have mono only system. How does this keyboard handle the stereo sample phasing mono distortion issue when putting out mono only? Excellent video by the way.

    • @johnnulf624
      @johnnulf624 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a mono button on the stage 3. I don’t know the technical side of how it sums it together, but I’m assuming they take phasing and distortion into account. Having said that, the Nord sounds way better in stereo to me and the people I A/B it with. Even in a sound system in a large room, even when you’re not in the middle of the room.

    I have all the Nord piano sounds on my Yamaha Montage. I still prefer CFX piano on Yamaha over all the Nord piano voices.
    My favorite from Nord , is also White Grand. It has a very nice laid back sound. Love it! I use it, just not as much as CFX.

  • @LenBautista

    If we record the Nord Stage 4 into your chosen DAW using MIDI (not audio), and we switch between programs while recording, such as moving from program A16 to A17, A18, and then back to A17, will these program changes be recorded by the DAW? Can we expect the MIDI playback to reflect these program changes as well? If this is the case, it seems we should manually set the program to A16 (our initial program) before starting MIDI playback. If this isn't possible, then we would need to record the audio instead of MIDI when using program switching. This would mean that we cannot easily edit the MIDI data to make adjustments later. Thanks for the content!

    Just got a used stage 3 and getting into it. I am enjoying the process of learning the ins and outs of this keyboard. I have noticed that the piano sounds are much lower than the organ and synth sounds. Is this my imagination, or is there a way to get a louder sound on the piano section? By the way, I am playing in an R&B band and I have added some brass section sounds on to the synth engine for that purpose, but I would like to know how to make the piano more present. Thanks in advance.

  • @JesusIsLord411

    Note: the strings resonance only works when you have a large piano sample loaded (not a SML/small file)...

    • @DSoundman
      @DSoundman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that’s a great tip!

    • @johnnulf624
      @johnnulf624 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Medium files have damper resonance but only in the middle range. Large gets you damper resonance across the whole keyboard and XL gets you full keyboard mapping as opposed to some samples being stretched across keys. Just want to clear that up for anyone reading. All the file sizes use the same compression so the quality of the samples does not vary.

  • @metanoiacoaching
    @metanoiacoaching 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice tips! String resonance is actually not about the notes "around the area you're playing", but the harmonics above (an octave, an octave and a fifth, etc.). Demo: hold down a key without playing the note, press the damper pedal and then hit the note one octave below the first key: you'll hear the note you're holding down. More info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonic
    And your followers might be interested to hear that it works on the middle range if you load a Medium (Med) piano sound and on the entire range if you load a Large (Lrg) or ExtraLarge (XL) sound. (You will simply not be able to turn it on on a Small (Sml) piano sound.)

    Do you prefer semi waterfall keys or hammer weighted on the Nord?

    • @DSoundman
      @DSoundman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For piano playing, I prefer fully weighted, but for organs and EPs, I prefer semi. I went with the semi on the Nord Stage 3 because I play a combination and felt it was the best option for me. When playing the piano, I do miss weighted, but since Nord recently fixed the external midi velocity curve, I now just plug my hammer 88 pro into the Nord and use that to play the pianos!

    @Dsoundman quick question before I order my Nord piano. Do you have regrets getting the Nord stage 3 piano and why didn’t you get the 88 key?…

    • @DSoundman
      @DSoundman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once in a while I do wish I had the 88, but then I play the organ and am glad I have the physical drawbars! Those drawbars and the waterfall semi weighted keys are the reason I got the Compact version. Just makes it a little more all around versatile for organ and synth playing.

    • @alfedoruiz6668
      @alfedoruiz6668 2 ปีที่แล้ว
