We do that too- after each chapter book we read together or they read themselves, they have a sketch book and they sketch a picture. WE love to go back and look through all our old sketches and remember the stories we read!
You did awesome on your budget...The kids will love it and I find kids appreciate things so much more than if they are given anything and everything... Merry Christmas to you and your family all the best with your renovating and in 2021.
I am a Nana and I love giving lots of gifts to my grandchildren so I thrift for the things also and buy 1 or 2 items each. You do great with your budget.
Ok first of all I want to go shopping with you!!!! You make me totally want to redo my whole Christmas! We’ve always just had our kids make a list for Santa then we bust our budget trying to make it happen. It’s been on my heart for awhile to get back to basics...I really like how you got them one thing they really wanted, then just shopped for them AS THEIR MOM, knowing them and what they’ll love. I love that! I usually shop at our thrift stores too, but we did 90% of our shopping online this year...covid🙄...so I really didn’t go out much. I miss it though, and you’ve really inspired me to honor our budget in the future. Thank you so much for sharing and for being transparent about your budget!💕 Merry Christmas to you!
Thank you so much for your sweet words! I have had years where I went overboard too...but I have finally learned that it’s not necessary at all for a happy Christmas! I’m so glad this inspired you! That means a lot! ❤️ Merry Christmas!
Wow, you found some great deals! You really stretched that $50 for each kid.... I’m sure your kids were happy on Christmas morning...did your oldest read any of the Lord of the Rings stories yet? My son loved the Hobbit book and all of the movies... but he really struggled to read the original Lord of the Rings Trilogy... what’s funny was that he was obsessed with those 3 movies when he was 4/5 years old..., he wanted to watch them practically every day! I absolutely could not stand those movies...lol.. He’s 19 now but he still loves all of them.... My teen son has been dating his girlfriend for 2 years... and when everything shut down, she started spending a lot of time here... so... we’ve been picking up lots of games and puzzles at Goodwill (once it reopened)... they were all like $2 or $3... And my son works there (he gets a discount)... anyway, it’s kept us busy the past 10 months.. And I was able to find a few puzzles that made great Xmas presents from Goodwill... I think it’s ok to buy some used items as gifts.... over the years I bought lots of used video games from Game Stop and it was really easy to buy toys at garage sales or thrift stores when he was 2 to 5 years old? Eventually they hit an age where they notice that the items are not new...I don’t know why I never thought to buy used books... I think it’s because my husband belongs to some book club that has amazing prices, so we order from there...
My daughter hasn’t started the Lord of the Rings yet...our library finally opened up and she said she wants to check out books from the library now instead of reading what she owns. Lol 😂 I do think the size of that book is pretty intimidating too...but she said she wants to read it. That’s cool that your son works at Goodwill! I really think if our kids are taught that used is just as good as new, it won’t be a big deal even when they are older! My kids do love new stuff...but I really think I’ve taught them to love thrifting enough that they are happy with whatever and love a good deal as much as me! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
I mean it’s not for me what she’s doing but wish it was lol 😆 I apricate it’s her way of doing it everyone is different she’s doing what she think is right for her family and her kids she clearly loves her kids
Sock hack: Place them in like a under garment washing bag. They can each have one. I use this for my toddler’s socks and it’s so nice
Yes! That’s a great idea! Thank you 😊
