Thank you. I have had a deviated septum since childhood. My doctor mentioned it recently, which means it probably is getting worse. I had almost completely decided to pursue a surgical solution. Your video helped to convince me the other 1% of the way.

I really want to get a septoplasty so that I can breathe better through my nose but I can’t take a month off of work. Thanks!
From what I have read that's really down to your surgeon and what they recommend. For the first two weeks you really want to be resting...a week at very least. You will be tired because you can only mouth breath during the first week. Plane - up to your surgeon, pretty sure at least 2 weeks due to cabin pressure but you can ask all these questions of your ENT office before committing. With intense exercise they say anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks no intense workouts. I'm at week two and definitely wouldn't want to risk any intense exercise or risk of knocking my nose. I'm fairly paranoid about even my eye glasses sitting on my nose. But really it's up to your surgeon.

I am 6 weeks in and I am still getting clots. I am finding it hard to breathe and I am not able to do very much physical activity. Right now I am not thinking it was worth it as my face still hurts as well. Thank you for to video
You may have nasal valve collapse
Rinse your nose with salina spray multiple times a day to remove the clots!
@@yahyaelmi8435How do you know if it's a valve failure? I also had surgery on September 29 and only a turbinate reduction, but until now I can't sleep well and feel tight all the time
How is it now bro?
Where you had your surgery?
Thabk you so much
I’m stlll breathing through my mouth 3 weeks after septoplasty and turbinate reduction I’m doing the sinus rinses everyday too and my ears are popping all the time .How long does it take to recover ?I did this so I could sleep better and breathe at night through my nose I hope it wasn’t all a waste of time
Heard it can take up to 6 months to fully recover
How's ur health now bro plzz reply I m thinking about both of these surgery... Plzz tell about today's how's u recover
I recently had DNS done last week and now i have my splints and pack removed. i will definately see this thaqnkyou so mcuh
Has anybody done this surgery from NY ? Any recommendations on ENT surgeon ? None of you mentioned the cons of the surgery GODFORBID what if there are ?
So...not the best idea to go wrestling or any other contact sport for few months ? :/
I had mine done 3 weeks ago and I still feel some stuffiness in my nose on the side that was operated on but I do breathe from that side more often but I still feel clogged I don’t know if it’s because more boogers lol are coming out more frequently now or if I have to use the saline spray more frequently to rinse out that side more
Nasal oil drops or spray can also help; need to be used 3 to 4 times a day.
You can assess your success if your nose does not become blocked while sleeping.
It is difficult to compare results during sports, even healthy people who don't have this issue can feel same.
I’ve had the flu on and off for 5 months. My ears hurt a lot. My surgery was two months ago.
How did the doctor correct it. did he trim part of the nasal septum or inserted a columellar strut to hold the nose up. mine botched my nose
What about the numbness ? Is it still numb or when did it go away ‘
How many weeks should I wait to do workouts? Or gym..
Sinus surgery is safe or not my doctor recommended to surgery but my husband said this is not for your future don't do this I am so confused please tell me surgery is safe
Done mine yesterday, still got my silicone splint in it, hope to see an improvements soon
I just Got it done 3 days back ❤❤ recovery for me is fast as Iam taking the medicine
after how much time can a person after surgery start his workout or weight training
Just had mine done 3 days ago. Thanks for the advice and sharing your story!
Did the doctors say how long a person should be off work after the surgery?
@@mrmo8832 I was out of work for a week, and I think a week was the right amount
@@mrmo8832the doctor usually say 5 days off but personally I took a full week off after the surgery before going back to work. Because by day 3-4 you will feel like yourself again but you will be low of energy so you will have to get a lot of rest and take your multivitamins and take vitamin D to speed up the recovery process and energy levels
@@mrmo8832 I haven't had the surgery yet but the doctors I have seen have said a week, although I imagine that depends on a number of factors.
how's the recovery now..??
Plz tell me how u deal with blocked nose after surgery
Were you experienced headaches or frequent migraines headaches due to the DNS?
How long took to start with sports or exercise?
did you do nasal rinses starting the day after surgery? Not just saline spray but fill neti pot style rinses with the squeeze bottle. My Dr. had we do them like 10 times a day, I had no issues with clots or anything stuck in my nose.
Bro will septoplasty permanently fix my breathing? I am doing this surgery in few days wish me luck.
It will definitely improve your breathing. All the best man!
@@ArhamSheikhthanks
How did it go?
@@Muhammad_mujatabaupdate?
I choked at the tweezers! 😂😅
Arham thank you for the great videos about your septoplasty! My question for you is, how long before it would be safe to fly after having that surgery? My job requires being on multiple flights per week, and having to lift heavy objects during that time.
Hello, very good info. I have done my noose just one month ago. My question for you if you are kind to answer , is: after how long did you breathe much better ?
Yes i also have the same question, i have done septoplasty one month ago and i am still feeling some breathlessness.
Can you please tell me which method your doctor use to reduce your turbinate
Did you pass your exams?
I’m 2 days in with the splints in my nose. This helped
Bro how to use medicine after surgery 😢
Waste of time money and health.
If you not having a severe issue.
Do not have this procedure.
What did you have done?
Can you please tel me those sticks were disolv one
I just had it yesterday
Have my at the end of February. Looking forward to the end result.
@syedadeebahmed how are you feeling? I’m 6 days post op and the stents came out yesterday. I’m still super congested and it’s hard to sleep at night.
How are you now?
I’m only 20 years old and I’m so scared about this surgery that doctors told me 😰😭.
I'm 20, I did it when I was 19. It's 100% worth it. I don't have stuffy nose anymore. Just one week of feeling frustrated.
0:56 OMG thank you man, you save my life.
how long before you could workout again Im a runner and swimmer supposed to get surgery in two weeks
i think atleast 2-4 weeks
Thank you. Now i'm getting confidence ❤
Definitely worth it. Wish i had done it earlier. Wasted years of my life with headache and depression
I am worried and scared or have anxiety and depression because of thinking about surgery. My doctor said to do it. Please give me an honest opinion if should go through it or not worth it?
My nose is tilted a little left side if i do this surgery will this also shape my nose straight from outside?
same question
if anyone is at the end of their recovery and you think this was not worth it... please dont do that to yourself.
Good to know! I had my surgery about 9 days ago, stents removed and still finding one nostril isn't as clear as the other but I know it's only early days and could take weeks if not months to fully recover
@@davidwicksmusic just be careful with yourself i kept hitting my nose and doing stuff i finally couldnt handle it and had to blow my nose... thankfully in the end i havent damaged it i was sick the other day and vomiting with blood gushing out my nose thankfully i didnt damage it. but my surgeon told me to come to his office the next day because he wanted his eyes on my situation. he pulled out the rest of the packing and man let me tell you i can breathe its amazing. when i woke up this morning i layed in bed and slept in and it felt so beautiful to just breathe and feel the air going through my wide open nostrils. now ive got into my day and its clogged ive done some rinsing and im sure swelling is coming back but i can tell when i am fully healed it will be what ive been hoping for all long... this surgery has 80% success. i lost taste and smell in covid and its been damaged since... ive even got some of that back.... unexcepted so happy i did this.
@@acrock21 I feel like I might still have some packing or gauze up my left nostril, it just feels blocked further up and no amount of flushing seems to clear it as much as the other nostril. It's still way better than it was but I think I'll go and get it checked out as it feels painful as well.
Glad you're going well. I am also very happy with the improvement but I feel my left nostril is still not fully clear
How many days were you congested post surgery?
Around 2 weeks and then the blood clots as said in the vid
How long did you wear the bandage?
3 days
Same 3 day after post surgery i got discharge i wash my nose 3 times a day with the stuff that the doctor give me little clot comes out every times but had a ichy ness every time at my nose.
How's ur journey about recovery plzz suggest a way to do God sake plzz reply
Does septoplasty change the shape of the nose? Plz tell me
No it doesnt
if your septum is deviated, that i often also visible from outside. your nose will straighten, when they straighten the septum
I had the surgery 2 days ago
It's painfull
I can't sleep because of pain i feel like my nose gonna explode

@@sadra7791 I just saw my ENT two days ago. He said ahh you still have bandages up there and I said...splints too right? And he said no that's actually bandage, use nose oil to soften and it will come out over time.
It felt so hard I thought there were splints. If you have extreme pain tell your ENT as there might be other issues going on maybe with a nerve. I think some of mine when I had it was actually referred jaw pain from having my mouth open all the time because I get that at the dentists as well and neck pain from using propped up pillows.

Hi, I have been having difficulty sleeping for several months. My ENT said that I have a deviated septum and concha hypertrophy. The procedure will be septoplasty and turbinate reduction at the same time. It will be done using minimally invasive surgery. I'm really scared of ENS. Do you think it is safer if the procedure is done one at a time or both at the same time?
Did you get the surgery?
@@bjg394 Five days post-op, the doctor already took the splints out. I still cannot breathe normally; there's still congestion and a lot of mucus. The doctor warns me not to blow my nose. I think I'll take my time to recover.
@@Anakayamgoreng I get my stents out tomorrow, I had my surgery on the 11th last week. Most miserable experience of my life. I was hoping I'd finally be able to breathe normally when they came out....
How's your recovery journey plzz tell about this I really need ur opinion
@@aadityagahlot7347 my stents came out on Wednesday, today is Friday. It's such an odd feeling having my nose so wide open all the time. I tried doing cardio at the gym and the dry/cold air was a bit painful. I'm sleeping so much better though, I've even managed to start dreaming again. My nose is still raw and sensitive but I'm not having any congestion or a lot of mucous production like others have experienced. I had a septoplasty and a SUBMUCOSAL turbinate reduction. As far as I can tell, getting a submucosal turbinate reduction makes a big difference in your recovery compared to non submucosal. The week I spent with the stents in my nose was a horrible experience that I felt like it would never end. Now that I've got them out, I'm very happy with my results.
I had septoplasty and turbinate reduction 2 weeks ago I feel like I can still see the cartilage blocking my deviated side I hope it’s still early stages and swelling and it will go with time I don’t want to snore or mouth breathe anymore

Brother just a question
Who was the surgeon i had 2 surgeries with no success still looking for real surgeon who can do it the right way
Thanks
Mine was Johan Steineger in Oslo Rikshospital
Stop with the 40-50% and go see a functional doctor to get to the root cause of the inflammation and then address/work on that.
I went in for a second surgery 5 years after my original septoplasty and was sold (stupid me) on rf coblation. Now I have ENS and still get occasional sinus infections and upper and rear nasal congestion. Don’t mess with the turbinates.
Same,had 2 surgeries,my nose still blocked
@@HeeersEllery You would of had turbinate reduction with your septoplasty-also when you have turbinate reduction my ENT told me to never touch the middle turbinate as that will go down naturally just reduce left/right sides!

Think twice before turbunite reduction. Research on empty nose syndrome
Best of luck!
Is it real ? Have u also done this surgery?@@aryanchettri2251
Don't worry about empty nose syndrome because they no longer remove the turbinates fully.
Does it affects the appearance of the nose
No it doesn’t change the shape!
@@ArhamSheikh I'm confused. If it's deviated, shouldn't the shape change to the correct position? They say a doctor can re-set a broken nose within 2 weeks of injury. Wouldn't this be the same with a deviated septum injury that's 2 weeks old? Why would this be different it it's a surgery?
@@kazman_6899I am sure he is talking about the overall appearance of the nose, which in Septoplasty it does unless you get something else. During a septoplasty the surgeon goes and removes the deviated portion of the septum to open up the airway passage for the nostrils to breathe better.
@@kazman_6899for me I had a crooked nose and now mine is a lot more straight and even. I just got the surgery done a week ago today!
@@kazman_6899 If you have broken your nose before your 17, then you have to wait a few years as your nose changes over the years till that time!

I have a question; In Poland how many state exams are required while studding general medicine? I am a medical student from Ukraine. in Ukraine a general medical student has to take 3 state exams in order to get a medical degree.
Krok1 exam is after completing year 3. Krok2 exam is required after completing year 6. Does Poland have the same kind of system? please answer to my question.
I am really afraid to do that. I heard ENS is pretty common to occur after septoplasty & turbinate reduction
Went well with me!
ENS only happens if the middle turbinate is altered with a lot. My ENT said to me when he did mine he would only to touch the left + right side as middle will go down naturally-you never touch the middle part!
Not pretty common who told you that?
